I'm all for free tampons in schools as long as we can ban all these commercials about how fat girls need bigger ones... at least during dinnertime.

Wow, I never knew fat girls needed bigger tampons while they eat dinner. Live and learn.

They tend to quickly run out of napkins

So the guy DeSantis picked as his head speechwriter has ties to Nick Fuentes and is pretty much a MAGAt.

That, combined with the stupid authoritarian ish he’s pulled in Florida and what he said about Ukraine, will not make me vote for him for anything ever.

So I may not even vote in 24 because the Libertarians got completely taken over by morons, so I can’t even make it a three peat of third party voting.

When I go back to Ukraine I might as well just stay there.

Agreed. It’s not fair to @Redden.  The dude is just trying to eat dinner and relax after a hard day at work and those commercials are getting him all worked up.

Assuming we're talking about free tampons for biological females, I don't get what's woke about it. It's a hygiene product. Is stocking the bathroom with toilet paper considered "woke" now too?

Slippery slope.

A history lesson for Trumpers:

  • Trump vacated JCPOA, an agreement that limited Iran's use of nuclear, which led to the proliferation of nukes in Iran.
  • Trump negotiated with the Taliban to have US military leave Afghanistan, and have Taliban prisoners released.
  • Trump believed Putin over his own domestic intelligence about election interference.
  • Trump held up a weapons deal with Ukraine because he wanted Zelenskyy to smear a political opponent.
  • Trump said NATO is obsolete.
  • Trump withdrew from the Paris Agreement

Trump isn't the only reason things internationally are on edge, but he's a big reason why.

He was a disaster on foreign policy. DeSantis seems to have the same policies. Pence and Haley seem to be on the right side of foreign policy but they have no shot.

The JCPOA is honestly the most infuriating of all because it was so unnecessary.  It was literally just the collective right demanding that Trump tear up an agreement - that was working, was confirmed to be working and was keeping Iran from continuing to develop nukes - simply because they hated Obama.

Imagine wanting a rouge nation to obtain a nuclear weapon that could wipe a US city off the map out of spite for the other side of the political isle.  It's so insane that it's almost unbelievable.  But it happened and Trump followed through on it because he's just as irresponsible and dangerous as his followers.

It's truly the most clear example of the right wing echo chamber ginning up outrage, fomenting it for political gain and then unleashing it's results on the world to devastating effect that's ever happened and we'll be paying for it, potentially forever.  F'ing shameful.

It's so silly to watch MAGAts get so mad they're red in the face that: 1) Iran is so dangerous! 2) the Afghanistan withdraw was so messed up! 3) Russia is fighting in Ukraine! 4) NATO, our allies are weak!... When reason for all of this is in Trump's mitts! When they start to realize this, their solution is DeSantis, who is just a clone. It's like they never learn.

who cares about all of that, somebody said something mean about uncle don don.

See, DeSantis is for everything! You can't lose!

Remember Colors, with Ice Cube, and errbody was all, "colors!!!", but then there was still colors?

Quote

"I am Grace Linn,” she said. "I am a hundred years young. I’m here to protest our school’s district book-banning policy. My husband, Robert Nicoll, was killed in action in World War II at a very young age. He was only 26, defending our democracy, Constitution, and freedoms.”

Eight days before the Normandy invasion, the unit that her husband commanded was bombed and strafed by NSDAP planes, the Daily Beast reports. She was seven months pregnant when he was first declared missing in action. Three days after their daughter, Nicci, was born, she received a telegram saying he had died. Linn later received a picture that her husband had brought with him to Europe, but his remains could not be found.

"One of the freedoms that the NSDAPs crushed was the freedom to read the books they banned,” she said. "They stopped the free press and banned and burned books. The freedom to read, which is protected by the First Amendment, is our essential right and duty of our democracy. Even so, it is continually under attack by both the public and private groups who think they hold the truth.”

Seeing a handmade quilt being unfurled behind her, Linn explained its significance.

"In response to the book banning throughout our country and Martin County last year—during the time I was 99—I have created this quilt,” she said. "To remind all of us that these few of so many more books that are banned or targeted need to be proudly displayed and protected and read if you choose to.”

Linn did not mince words when it came to why she was there.

"Banning books and burning books are the same. Both are done for the same reason—fear of knowledge. Fear is not freedom. Fear is not liberty. Fear is control. My husband died as a father of freedom,” she said.

"I am a mother of liberty. Banned books need to be proudly displayed and protected from school boards like this. Thank you very much,” she concluded.

This 100 year old grandmother understands. Pity the GOP has no clue. They are all about making people afraid.

The biggest problem with American politics (and to a large extent UK politics as well), is that the right wing parties have been taken over by dangerous morons, who motivate a voter base who have been getting poorer and poorer since the mid-eighties with Tucker Carlson driven moral panics and unquestioning flag waving as the sole definition of patriotism, the current scare stories around drag acts and transgender people (that predate Nashville) is a case in point.

Meanwhile, the notional parties of the left have been taken over by careerist politicians with no bedrock beliefs or principles, who refuse to take a stand on any issue because they're doing alright out of the lobbyists and have no political ambition beyond getting re-elected until they're gibbering dementia patients like Feinstein.

They've compromised and fudged on everything while calling it ‘bi partisanship’ and ‘sensible politics’, simultaneously ratchetting ever rightwards on the political spectrum, so now the Democrats are essentially early 80's Republicans and people like Bernie who’s politics are where the historical centre left was, are presented as extreme left pseudo communists.

In 1968 American students were pretty much doing what the French are doing now in Paris, what followed was 50 years of conservative backlash, until we've reached the point where any sort of protest beyond gently marching with a placard, is blasted by every public figure regardless of what side of the argument they're on.

It doesn't matter who you vote for, if you're in the bottom 50% of American wealth, nobody who will ever be allowed near the levers of power is going to raise your living standards

I'm thinking about coming up with a creative name for my balls... but I want them to have individual identities.

Castor and Bollocks, maybe?

You need to use a period to end a sentence, not a comma.

Leave @Cochis_Calhoun alone... he's busy culturally appropriating the names of indigenous American persons.

Watch out, I think Sanjay_McGee is one of his clones
