Lol ok.  The "crisis" that was literally impossible to avoid which the media politicized to help the Dems.  As evidenced by what is occurring now with Biden.

This is still the best thread on the EMB:

"What's next for the Republican Party?"

--Democrat 1:. Gibberish

--Democrat 2: Gibberish

--Former Libertarian-turned-leftist:. Gibberish

--Democrat 3: "derp blue wave"

Whats really next for the Republican party:. Likely winning the house in '22 and definitely winning the presidency in '24 because people will realize what I said first is true.

There. Now close this stupid thread.  Liberals already have 28 threads to complain about Trump

I think its obvious to most people that Trump is a grifter, con man who is selfish and entirely transactional in his dealings.  He is mostly bluster, with very little substance.   He doesn't really understand how governance works and in fact had no experience (nay, no interest) in governing, and it showed when push came to shove.

It's not that the crisis was avoidable -- they rarely are.  The issue is showing genuine leadership; showing empathy; bringing the country together -- not criticizing your own experts; not abdicating responsibility to individual states and just being an a-hole.   Look, when the dirt is hitting the fan, do you really want Trump in your foxhole?  He won't jump on that grenade for you, that's for sure.   Instead, he'll throw it closer to you, and then blame somebody else.   Or lie about who did it.

There are many reasons he lost the election -- but crying about mail-in ballots is just saying that Trump's base is sooo stupid, they let some selfish old man make decisions for them.  Really?   Like I would have listened to Biden or anyone who said don't use mail-in ballots.  I do what I want when it comes to voting options -- I have voted mail-in ("absentee") for the last 3 presidential elections, regardless of what anyone says.  Cause I don't like lines -- I will never vote in person again, if at all possible to avoid it.   It wouldn't matter to me what anyone says about them.

I can't imagine someone who was like -- yeah, I really was going to use mail-in, but Trump changed my mind.  What an idiot if they did.

I'm sure Trump's chaotic incompetence demonstrated by his 4 years in office beefed up the vote for the other side (its not just his own votes were depressed due to mail-ins).

No, that is MY OPINION. I have no pro-Trump narrative, knucklehead.

He voted by mail but told his people it was not safe, it was rigged. During a pandemic. He told them the election was corrupt before a vote was cast. He depressed his own vote.

You are free to disagree without being an idiot, maybe? Are you?

Trump's comments on voting didn't help -- but I can't imagine people just blindly follow whatever that oaf says when it comes to the voting mechanism they use.   I think there are many reasons he lost -- the biggest one being that the 4 chaotic years of his presidency, including an impeachment, demonstrated he didn't belong there.

You say Trump depressed his own vote -- I say his incredible lack of competence brought out more voters on the other side.  Or perhaps a little of both.

I have her on Trump's short list for 2024 running mate along with the 90 year old NSDAP they just arrested in Germany. Sure the NSDAP guy has more street cred with republicans, but they're probably already making T-shirts out of what she said in that clip and picking her gives the gop the token woman  on the ticket to try to prove they aren't all just white dudes.  We have white chicks in our party too!

She knows her audience, watch her donations jump.

Dude, you misunderstand.  I'm on your side -- I hate Trump.  However, I think Trump's own follies over his 4 years in office brought out the vote on the other side, more than some moron in Arkansas deciding to not vote by mail, based on Trump disparaging mail-in voting.   The turn-out was high on both sides.  In other words, Trump being Trump caused him to lose -- not mail-in ballots.

I'm mocking Mike. He once famously said his 401k was flat under Obama and then went through the roof under Trump. I told him then that it's silly to ascribe that much credit or blame for market performance to a president but he continued to pound his chest, so now that the shoe is on the other foot, I'm directing all his rhetoric back to him.

Oh right, the Libertarians who think the POTUS drives the stock market.  those guys...

I treated with seriousness. I am sorry for that. Go back to flinging left wing poo and pretending you are holier than the people flinging right wing poo.

I don't fling left poo.   I call out a grifter con man, bully, BS artist when I see it.   Someone who cynically lies about an election (to this day has not conceded - but he knows he lost and says so in private) and riles up his supporters so they attack the very heart of our democracy while Congress is in session  -----  is not someone you should even THINK about supporting if you care about democracy.   And that's just to name 2 horrible things he did there are many more.

Sorry, there is no one comparable to him on the right or the left.   You don't see that?

If you think that is being holier -- I'm sorry. It's just the truth about Trump.   His supporters need to see that and deal with it.

You sound exactly like them. I don't know why you keep wanting to convince me Trump is utter garbage. That is obvious.

You are still a partisan doodlebug with blinders on where the left is concerned, and an inability to smell your own BS.

Okay, but I'm simply attacking Trump.  Why are you all riled up about the left?    Look, all parties have BS - yes.  But nothing comes close to the Trump BS and his band of merry men and women.   Sure you may not like BLM and the like -- but BLM is a grassroots movement, not an elected official.

What has you so upset about the left?   And show me how it is even remotely comparable to what ELECTED republican office holders, like Trump did and are doing?

You started by attacking me, saying I am playing into a Trump narrative because I believe he sabotaged his own campaign.

Now you want to discuss right vs left and which is worse, like that is a worthy exercise.

You are a partisan nutbag, excusing your side for everything and assigning every evil visage to the other side's words and deeds.

I am sorry you are unable to see the suck on the side you defend. Perhaps some day, you will grow up.

Trump got 10 million+ more votes in 2020 than 2016. So I don't believe the Republicans anti-absentee ballot message hurt him much at all. He actually got more votes 4 years later.

But I think it fed into the false narrative the election was stolen. Trump voters went in-person to the polls. And if you stood in line at the places where Trump got his votes, and you looked around, you would think most people were voting for Trump too. They were fed lies that mail-in ballots wouldn't count, only the election day votes were guaranteed. Meanwhile, many Biden voters filled out absentee ballots, or went to early voting... There are places where mail-in votes went Biden 4-1 or 5-1 or even better over Trump. So if you believed those votes didn't count, you'd believe the election was skewed. Because you didn't see all those Biden voters standing in line at the polls on election day.

27 million more people voted in 2020. More people voted on both sides. A lot more.

Biden got 15 million+ more than Hillary.

Democrats voted by mail 2 or 3 times more than the GOP. My belief is had Trump NOT torpedoed his own vote by mail, and made people distrustful of the process, he would have won.

It is telling that MANY of the people charged in the insurrection did not vote. Those are clearly die-hard Trump supporters, yet they did not vote. They cared enough to show up at a rally, traveling from all over the nation, but did not vote, even by mail.

I knew Biden would get more votes than Hillary. Many voters in 2016 were convinced before the vote was even counted Hillary won, Trump had no chance. So people could have a good conscience they didn't cast a vote for Hillary and Trump still wouldn't be President. Trump voters took that personally and cast their vote anyway. We all know the rest, Trump won. With all the momentum Trump had in 2016, I wasn't sure there were more Trump votes to be gained in 2020. Yet he found some more.

Would Trump have even more votes in 2020 if Republicans didn't disparage absentee ballots? Yes. Enough to beat Biden to win the election? Possibly.

I am not sure those lowlifes would have voted any way.

2016 seemed like a low turnout year. Almost everyone I know hated both candidates. Even some of my family members who are die hard Trumpbots now, were lukewarm on him in 2016. I was living in NC at the time and the lines were so long, I almost didn't vote myself and I always vote in every election. (Yes, I'm aware that long lines doesn't gel with low turnout. However, this is North Carolina we are talking about where they don't want people to vote so they make it as inconvenient as humanely possible).

Anecdotally: What I remember about standing in line in 2016 to vote, is how many old, elderly people were there. Not many younger voters. Lines were not abnormally long... 2008 was a huge turnout.

The keep screaming that the Democrats are doing it, but they continue to get caught doing it.

Be specific -- why do you say that?  Seriously -- what have I said in response to you to indicate anything about the "left"?  You sound all riled up about the "left", yet Trump is "utter garbage".  So what's your alternative?

Sorry you took that as a personal "attack".  Wow -- sensitive much?  I don't have a side -- I'm anti-trump , not pro anybody else.  So not sure why you think otherwise.

So what's your alternative  -- if Trump sucks (and he is the right essentially these days), and the left sucks too in your opinion.  Where does that leave you?

If I am partisan at all, it is because I recognize existential threat the right is to democracy itself right now.  I mean seriously, spreading the big lie (and continuing to do so) and then the no conviction on impeachment for Jan. 6th and no bipartisan commission?  That's outrageous.    The ELECTED left does not do anything remotely close to undermining the very foundations of our democracy right now.

If I'm wrong -- say how?

I am not riled about about the left. I think you are a wing nut. I am more left than right. I am not looking for alternatives. You accused me of touting somebody's BS and I corrected you.

You keep trying to veer off track, seem to half think I am a Trump supporter, and frankly, typing that, I realize I am wasting my time.
