Technically Wentz is a dual threat QB...

I love him in ac/dc

Talks about mechanics and coaching a QB like coaching a middle LB. I'm sold.

A QB coach is the most important person in potentially turning Wentz around. The fact that they hired a QB coach who knew Hurts from 4 years old, recruited him out of HS, and has a history of working with dual threat QB's in college..............

I wouldn't read too much in to that though. So they hired a guy that once recruited Hurts out of HS? So he likes Hurts? OK I am sure a lot of coaches around the league like Hurts, doesn't mean they'd pick him over their starting QB. Everyone knows where I stand with Wentz but I don't think this moves spells the end for him in Philly, in fact I think their focus this year is going to be on turning him around.

That was the same thought that crossed my mind.

I don't think any of this matters for Wentz.  I think he is going to move on because of potential issue with the front office.  That leaves us stuck with Hurts and all of his limitations.

I don't think so. I think Carson's biggest issue was with Doug and the offensive scheme / play calling. I mean of course we don't know that but I believe that to be the case. I mean if Carson has really soured on the FO because of drafting Hurts then he deserves to be moved on.

Why does it have be about "drafting Hurts"?  You constantly point out the FO issues in every topic.  Is it possible that he shares those same concerns? Personally, I don't blame him...the fans are unrealistic, the Philly media sucks, Howie can't draft, the cap is a mess, Lurie potentially meddlesome with picks, Doug was in over his head, full rebuild...and there are probably even more real concerns behind the scenes.

I think he is gone and I don't blame him if he chooses to.

That same FO gave him a monster contract though! He will be back next year there is no doubt in my mind.

Not the UTE QB Coach.  He was the QB coach with Dan Mullen at Mississippi State and came over to UF with Mullen as OC/QB Coach as well.

He played at utah, then was QB coach at utah with Dennis erickson as the OC from 2010-2013 then went to Mississippi St with DAk then to Houston where he had Greg ward then to Florida.

That does not change the fact that there are ways to get out of here, if he no longer believes that they are competent or that the organization is headed in a viable direction.  Alot can change in the time, since he got that contract....obviously.  I am not in favor of him leaving, but I am not going to be surprised if it happens.

Unless we hear something from Wentz soon, I've got to believe he'll be gone if a deal can get done.

Don't hold your breath on that happening. Wentz has shown to be a quiet guy when he should be throwing water on the fire.

I like that, nice to hear these type of philosophies from the coaches to hear what they're looking for.

I don't see any way Wentz doesn't play next season. The Eagles aren't going to let him walk unless they can work out a deal where they get out from under the cap hit. Wentz has no choice but to play and play well. He has to show he can play at this level again or else his options diminish even further. It's in everyone's best interest he pulls up his big boy pants and has a respectful season.

That is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario.  We have no idea what Wentz is thinking.  He might want to wait to meet with the new coaches to see their plan, get a feel for if he thinks it's going to work.  He might get on board and be excited to put the work in and bounce back to have a good season.  He might not like what he hears and get a bad vibe and then discuss a trade.

But let's say he were to make a statement saying he doesn't want a trade to "throw water on the fire" and say he's excited to be here.  Then he meets with the new coaches and changes his mind, then people will criticize him anyway.  If he makes a politically correct statement that is vague and leaves the door open to leave, again he will be criticized.  And if he makes a statement that doesn't demand a trade but makes it clear he is a starting QB and wants to start, he will be criticized and people will say "see, he wants a trade."

It's a no-win situation.  Especially with the way Philly media runs with narratives and becomes judge, jury and executioner against these players.  Once they decide there's a story or controversy, they will find "sources" to back it up, or just make up speculation.  And fans eat it up.

Wentz is probably in a tree-stand somewhere deep in the backcountry bow-hunting with his buddies on a game preserve, more concerned about the type of broadhead to use and dippin' into his can of snuff for another chaw while waiting for daylight.

We'll see.  There were "reports" (unverified) that Howie was dictating to Doug who would dress and who would get reps, so Howie could validate his signings or draft picks.  Don't know if true.  But I hope that this next regime will shed some light on things.

In the article Johnson says : "Johnson's connection with Hurts dates back to when the Eagles QB was as young as four". This kinds of makes me wonder if the Eagles are done with Wentz and are placing their bets on developing Hurts. I am ok with that.

Another Wentz bashing thread

Hurts needs lots of development. That one thing is for sure.

That article will definitely feed the mob.

Wentz doesn't need to and shouldn't say a thing at this point. It's not going to help him to come out complaining if he wants out and if he stays (which is not up to him really) all we're going to (or should) get is the standard line of looking forward to working with the new coaches blah blah blah. The new coaches haven't even spoke yet so way should Wentz?

Every QB needs development, but what Hurts brings to the table that Wentz does not currently have, is composure and leadership. I am excited to see so many new young coaches being hired, with a mission to improve QB position.

This.  Because trading before 6/1 costs them even more money, get ready for a $19 mil cap hit and picking top ten again.

LOL. I get it that the media has painted a negative picture of Wentz for you.  But remember, whatever composure and leadership you perceive exists with Hurts (no proof), let's also admit that we actually witnessed his lack of accuracy, his fumbling problem, his inability to score once his schtick is figured out in the 2nd half, his inability to use progressions versus running, and his struggle to work outside of the hashes.   So YES, he needs lots of development to be an NFL QB.

The only people who really think Wentz NEEDS to talk are the egomaniacal fans who feel they are entitled to an answer....so they can shred every word, pause, and weight shift to further their narrative.
