Hightower showed nothing last year. Sure, he’s fast but he can’t catch and he can’t track the ball. I’m not sure how you guys are counting on him making the roster over Fulgham. Fulgham disappeared at the end of the year but gave him best Jerry Rice impersonation for a few games.

Hightower is another example of Howie drafting a guy based on his 40 time.

Lol look at wr list...

no one has him over Fulgham. I have him over ward. Jason Avant stated that Hightower is the best Route running WR on the team by far last year. Also stated that the lack of touch on the ball led to a few drops. The drops on deep balls he attributed to lack of concentration. Yes, no perfect but he has more upside than Greg Ward.

Fair enough.

I mean look I like Ward but a upgrade in the slot would be nice.

Yep, Ward is a high floor i.e solid contributor but very low ceiling player given there is nothing dynamic about his game.

With where our team, there is no need for him to make the team over Hightower, Watkins or Fullgham. These three may amount to nothing but we are going nowhere this year and I’d rather find that out rather than have a slot WR who makes short catches and gets tackled immediately. If we were a contender, totally different story but we shouldn’t really be rolling with Ward by the time this team is contending so why take reps away from someone younger with higher upside.

So hang on... We move on from Ward who is at least dependable for Watkins, Hightower and Fulgham who between them have proven less in the NFL.

If we carry only 5, yep I’d rather go young with the potential guys (Smith, Raegor, Watkins, Hightower and Fullgham). If it’s 6, then Ward would be that guy.

If they only go 5 then Ward has to be one of them because he's the only dependable one.

Reminds me of the situation with Jordan Matthews to be honest. Dependable guy in the slot but not really a threat.

If our eye is really on the future, I’d prefer going with guys who may develop to something more.

Yeah with Sirriani I think all bets are off as to who sticks beyond Reagor & Smith.  And with him being a WR guy I'd expect 6 WRs kept

Totally agree. Guys like Ward are a dime a dozen; ask Bill Belichick.

I agree.  Hightower can't play at this level.  They found that out last year and sat him the rest of the season.  With a new coach his roster spot isn't secure

Crazy thing about Grimes is he looks just as big on the field as Kyle Pitts and actually looks a tad faster on some plays.  If Florida didn't have a big go-to receiver Pitts already taking up the majority of the targets, I have little doubt Grimes would have had much better numbers and likely would have been drafted as (at leas)t a  mid round pick, imo.

Great signing, imo.

Gainwell can play out of the slot...and I have a feeling he's going to be pretty good there.

I think there are a number of options they now have that can play in the slot and be more dynamic than Ward. But none of them are necessarily full time starters in the slot and so that does give Ward an edge.

Yep, I still think Ward is a solid starter at slot...and he should only do better this year with (hopefully) better QB play.

Shouldn’t there be more Undrafted Free Agents signed. CB, LB, S, punter, special teamers? Even another QB?

Yes there will be more.  I will update the original post as more are announced (no more than that first set have been announced yet ... at least not that I am aware of).

Maybe the Eagles brass needed a half day off on Sunday afternoon after pushing through draft weekend. It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon in Philly. It’s Monday now. Back to work!

It would be nice to see Grimes play well enough to win a spot, but I wouldn't get too excited just yet. He's very similar to DGB as a pro prospect (physically gifted with great size, but plays slower than you expect.) Maybe Siriani can get the most out of him like he did with Zach Pascal. Grimes is a willing blocker which is a trait Siriani values.

Personally, I think our current group has the edge and that Grimes is a PS guy this year.

I mean look he's a limited ceiling player but he is reliable.

I actually like a few of these guys just based on stats and hope that they found a few gems.  Grimes, Bailey, and Ausbon are a few that I am really wondering about.  Even Crider could provide some good depth for the o line.  It is going to be a very interesting camp as I am pretty sure there are a decent amount of roster spots open with the new coaching staff and a very underwhelming team last year.

Buffalo OG Kayode Awosika also signed.  First post updated.

So looking at the UDFA I think the one guy that stands out is Grimes,

Is there's a reason he didn't get drafted???

Medical flag???

Banged Goodells daughter???

I'm glad he's with the eagles I think it's a good fit just surprised he wasn't drafted.

Grimes is big, but maybe not fast. Seems like a playmaker to me.

Maybe they're looking at Grimes as a TE lol
