He probably wants to - you know - start, not be a gadget player for 2 plays a game and insurance for Wentz injuries.

Of course. It's not the best opportunity for him at least right now.  Howie really screwed a lot of people over tonight.

If this forum is ready to go for the Draft I say we post here and not on that 'other' site.  Leave it an effing ghost town so the Eagles PR/marketing team can see what they're missing out on with most

Howie needs to stop the other 31 teams from participating in the draft!

I can understand not trading up for Lamb either because another team didn't want to trade with you, or you didn't want to give up picks.  I'm even ok with Reagor if they really liked him.

But in the 2nd you can take DE Epenesa to eventually replace Graham, and in the 3rd you take future safety Burgess not a special teams backup LB.

Or, take Queen at LB in the 1st, Mims in the 2nd and in the 3rd trade up for Duvernay.

So many combinations that would’ve shown a deliberate approach to balance the team needs and get Carson weapons. We’d all argue over our favorites, but at the end of the day shift to support mode. Look how fast the majority of us started to calm down over Reagor.

This, though, I don’t know what this is. It doesn’t promote win-now with the FA pickups nor it does it signal a rebuild. It’s just, weird.

I wonder what Lurie thinks while this is going on? Surely, the PR/Social Media folks ensure the organization has their finger on the pulse of what the fanbase thinks.

I guess they'll be checking reddit for that.  <_<

You think they care about what the fans think? Look at the recent closing of a very popular message board. There is your answer.

Can you apply for a GM job because that’s all on point!

I should've bought this before the draft, but not to protect myself from coronavirus. It would've helped me deal with the stench of Howie's bad picks.

Actually I take it back. I'm really angry. Sack Howie.

If we had brees and drafted hurts.  I love that pick.  But a 27 yo qb just getting his feet under him now looking over his shoulder.  This is not good at all.

I agree though I'll add... I don't think Wentz needs to worry or look over his shoulder. If he does with a rookie who was seen by most as a third round talent then he's not the man anyway. But it's the fact they've not improved this team with that pick.

Howie needs to be like Joe Banner:  contracts, cap, negotiations and trades.

Need a VP of Personnel - replace Weidl with someone better - to have full control over scouting, personnel and setting the draft board and deciding who to pick in coordination with taking the coaches input.

Or:  get rid of Roseman and Weidl and get a new GM.

Howie has weaseled his way up the Eagles hierarchy by first hiding behind Reid and then eventually overtaking him. A lot of good football minds were lost in the process and now all that is left is him. Can we even say Howie belongs on contracts anymore after the Jeffery debacle?

I think it's fair to say 2017 was absolutely the outlier for this FO.

Why so mad? With Wentz injury history there is like what...90% chance Hurts will  see the field this season?...My problem is that with his playing style he will probably get hurt in 3 weeks as well...but everybody should understand by now how important is the backup QB...you can draft Jeudy, Lamb and Ruggs all together if the only guy to throw them the ball is incompetent bum...btw Hurts threw it to all of those I think😂...don't worry guys, just be happy and stay healthy, the Eagles always played their best when nobody expected too much from them...I clearly see the logic😄

I've made fun of the Giants for having Gettleman. But we have Howie. Not much better.

I think so far we nailed the draft. Eventually people will see the light, I am sure.

We got good players. All I care about.

You're kidding? Nailed the draft? Please do explain.

I'm watching this interview with Hurts and it seems like even he feels (body language) this isn't the best situation for him going to a place with a QB who is still young with a rabid fanbase. He seems a little caught off guard.

Ya probably a career ender for him as far as starting qb goes.

Everyone here laughs at JERRUH as GM. But we gots executive of da yr yo.

Having had time to digest it, I’m still disappointed at that 2nd round pick, but I love reagor and can get on board with Taylor if he can become at least a solid starter. There are still decent receivers left in this draft as well and we have loads of picks coming in round 4.

i also think the omission of secondary at this point is perhaps a vote of confidence for Sidney Jones? Or at least I hope it is and the coaches think he will take a big leap this year. If he can make that leap, I’m happy with how the defense is looking.

We’ll still compete next year. As much as it sucks to have wasted a 2nd on someone that might not play, if wentz goes down (And history suggests he will) at least we have some insurance now.

Which is another flawed decision.

I actually don't think this FO could have made a greater mess of day two.

Im not convinced that jones won’t become a quality starter for us. He showed flashes last year and has got the athleticism you look for in a corner.

The Hurts pick looks stupid right now, but might not look so stupid if we make the playoffs and wentz goes down again. Do we win the super bowl without Foles as a backup?

He made two plays. He still had a pretty poor year. I've seen nothing to suggest he can be a quality starter. Any player can make flash plays once or twice.

This teams obsession with the back up QB saving the day is ridiculous. It happened once it very likely won't ever happen again. Build a team and sign an experienced back up like a Flacco.

There actually is a long history of valuable backup QBs at the Eagles. It's not just Foles.

And how many Lombardi trophies has that yielded? One. Great.

It’s not an obsession, it’s putting measures in place at the most important position to ensure that you can still compete if your starter gets injured. And as much as Wentz getting injured last season was not related to him being injury prone, he has finished the last 3 seasons injured. As such you can say that it’s highly possible we will need the backup to play at some point in this coming season.

Look, I also hate the pick right now and would have loved Mims in the second. But I’m not going to say that it’s ruined this teams chances of competing when the backup qb has also finished the last 3 seasons for us.

Way to discredit every good player on the team, ever. Didn't win it all. So screw them all!

Nah, I'm not that extreme.
