However, complaining about turning 146 into 196, 200, 233, and a 5th in 2021 is laughable. That is insane asset management and stockpiling of picks. At this point in the draft you want more lottery tickets. Adding Reagor, Goodwin, and Hightower when the offense was the slowest in the league last year was also incredibly smart. It's ok to not hate or love the entire draft and pick and choose certain elements of it that are good and bad. I'm trying to get on board with the idea that they wanted speed so added 3 WRs with speed and a backup QB who can play a Lawson role in contributing on gadget plays. But they got WRs who have issues with hands and drops and a guy who is almost 30 and injury prone (granted low risk with a trade back swap of picks). There are so many better choices they could have made.
April 25, 20205 yr Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Howie resign right after the draft. Can he really be this dumb?

The complaining over Hightower is laughable. He's a 6th round pick. You want a guy with great speed and hands, those guys in the first round, not the sixth. The Hurts was horrendous, but that one mistake doesn't mean every pick or trade in the draft was a bad one.

I dont mind the picks I am getting a kick out of this draft though as we are going for speed over talent. I wasnt on the Speed Kills train so can't bunch me in with those people. Id rather have the guys who can catch, run a route, break a press, tackle etc over just pure speed. That is just what this draft is, just speed projects. I actually think our best pro ready picks were Hurts and Wallace.
April 25, 20205 yr Howie this, howie that, howie howie howie 'howie sucks' ad nauseum The only bad move this draft was a Doug project The rest was Howie addressing needs and showing off his trade skills

April 25, 20205 yr I can see we've reached the point in this draft where grief has turned into denial. Whatever floats your boats, guys.
April 25, 20205 yr I disagree its a pure speed game. yes KC won the SB last year but was not because of just speed. They have one speed guy in Hill. Patrick Mahomes is not super fast, Watkins is fast but not out of this world. they won with overall good players and good coaching. KC was the only speed team who won the SB recently. Pats the year before? Us the year before? pats again? it was one year a team with one speed guy won the SB. there defense is not fast, HB not fast, QB avg speed.

I'm not upset about not trading up for Lamb, I get that. But they could have traded their 2nd which they used on Hurts. Not trading the 2nd made us think they had big plans there and they got a backup gadget QB when we have what Howie called an MVP phenomenal Pro Bowl QB already. For a QB factory. I don't mind Hightower, any WR taken after the 3rd is a crap shoot even moreso than higher rounds. But they could have taken Mims earlier, or traded back to take Tee Higgins and then get Duvernay for the speed. Whatever, hopefully WR works out. But they also took a LB who is going to be a special teams player, a safety project when they could have taken a corner which was a bigger need. There were better LBs to be taken, and twice they could have taken a DE that could replace Graham.

Hightower is a 6th round pic,, what exactly do you expect in the 6th round. People complained when they drafted based on production. Now they are drafting based on traits and athletic ability and people are complaining. For the record, I don't love every pick. Reagor - A Hurts - D Taylor - C Wallace - A Driscol - C Hightower - A Turning 146 into 196, 200, 233, and a 5th in 2021 - A Turning 190 into Goodwin and 210 - A

Hill, Watkins, their rookie last season, and the depth are all speed guys. The Eagles also picked up a nice array of speed this year with Reagor, Goodwin, and Hightower. They all have speed, can play outside, can play in the slot, and all have different types of speed games. I love what the Eagles did.

The point maybe isn't that everybody has to be super fast. Just the WRs, so that Sanders / Ertz / Goedert can do their thing.

April 25, 20205 yr They were so focused on speed they forgot about talent. They claim to go with value and BPA but they were laser focused on speed to overcompensate and forgot about other positions like DE, corner which is very weak apart from Slay.

They have done a couple of really good things, one really stupid thing, and some stuff in between.
April 25, 20205 yr Some of y'all are forgetting that Torrey Smith had bad hands too but his speed was enough to open up the offense and help if flourish

You can't fill every need in one draft when you have so many. Again, another flaw to your argument. Hate the Hurts pick and dislike some of their picks, I get that because I agree. Being critical of everything including adding speed and athletic traits to a roster that was slow and getting old is kind of silly.

I’d say Slay and Robey-Coleman is a solid CB1 and Nickel. #2 will be between Maddox, Mills and Jones, plus also may be another trade or a surprise cut from another team.
