 If everyone keeps going along with it, it'll be reality for a lot more than a year.

Good. That's the point: Get people vaxxed. Wear masks when it's not possible to socially distance. Or, if you refuse to take any precaution, stay at home and do your research until the threat passes. The rest of the world is going to chug along. We aren't waiting for everyone to figure out the vaccine is safe and effective.

We will keep going along with it until enough people are vaxxed to make the virus less dangerous.

One of my best friends got it last week (dog sick 4-5 days, over it now.  Single dose J&J)  He's a bartender and the entire F&B circuit is getting shelled with cases.  Restaurants are shutting down or serving limited capacity not because of mandates, just because they are short of healthy employees.

yeah...it's real f'n bad.  hell, the urgent care i took my kid to was out of rapid test kits & we had to call around to find a place that actually had some. so many people getting it right now.

The rest of the world is. You aren't. You said you're letting case numbers dictate your holiday plans.

My Christmas plans are muted anyway, as my wife and I started pulling back once cases started rising after Thanksgiving. We are only going to see close family who we know are vaxxed, and outdoor events. We canceled on invites to indoor parties. School has had many positives per week since Thanksgiving, and that is only amongst the population who are actually testing their kids. I have heard from several parents who think testing kids is useless; they refuse to test their own, since they believe kids only get mild illness.

I took my friends' 82 yr old mom to get tested.  First lab was out of tests, the 2nd ran out while we were there.  She was negative thankfully.

Such a shame people won't mask up, social distance, wash their hands, instead of pretending none of that matters.

Being vaccinated will also help end this, but hey. . . .

It's actually kind of insane that people still believe there's a possibility of "ending this." Countries all over the world are breaking their own records for daily cases regardless of vaccination status. We've tried stringent lockdowns, tried recommendations. What, if we just lock down a little bit harder, the virus will go away? If we get quadrupled vaxxed, it'll be gone? No, of course not. The key forward is learning to live with the virus. It'll probably continue to mutate, but become less deadly and more transmissible. It's a part of life now. Eventually we'll all get some variation of it. The best thing we can hope for now is that the focus shifts to treatment rather than vaccines that don't work at lowering transmission rates.

The vaccine prevents serious cases and death.  It's by far the best treatment we have available.

Seeing a spike in Flu, Adenovirus, and Metapneumovirus locally right now which are all pretty crappy in their own right. Metapneumo is a bit more prone to cause viral pneumonia and Adeno causes a nasty pharyngitis and super high fever. Not that that's anything to do about it but definitely adding to the wait times/backlog in EDs/offices/testing centers.

Yeah, I'd still like to see some alternatives to the vaccine because we know by looking at "breakthrough" data that the vaxxed are still catching it in the hundreds of thousands and dying in the tens of thousands.

You should talk to your veterinarian and see what he recommends.

This is the collective psychosis the media and our politicians have permanently implanted in ishlibs. They're literally afraid of almost everything now. Completely broken.

Lots of big-name triple vaxxed people are coming down with the virus:

Fourth jab should do the trick possibly. I mean, who really knows?

Not wearing a mask during a pandemic is just straight up impolite.  Like farting in an elevator.  We've all done it, but if you are intentionally doing it to piss everybody around you off, you're an A-hole in the 1st degree.

I'd say trying to police people for not wearing the mask up to your standards is worse. Trying to narc on someone on a flight because their mask slipped below their nose, even worse.

This is a mind set you need to move on from. This is never ending really. The virus is here for good but the vaccines prevent serious illness so unless you plan on wearing a mask and sociallly distancing forever then it is time to move on. If you have symptoms stay away from people otherwise live your life.

the stupid aholes who won't get vaxxed are the same stupid aholes who don't wear a mask at stores, restaurants, etc.  i've always tried try to stay away from stupid aholes...long before covid was invented by dr. fauci in that wuhan lab.

What exactly are "my standards"?  Yes I believe that people should be required to wear them in certain places.  I'm perfectly fine with people getting thrown out or even fined if they refuse.  Where is the crime against humanity?

The guy is wearing a mask.

A few weeks ago at Deptford mall about 30% with masks I highly doubt all were unvaxxed. And many with masks didn’t even wear them correctly and no one I saw had the correct ones

Yeah, I don't really care enough to get into a huge debate about this. I just wanted to laugh at the guy who was terrified of getting coronavirus because another dude's mask slipped below his nose and went on social media to cry about it.
