This is what people need to remember looking at raw numbers. ICUs typically operate on average at about 60+% capacity. It's significantly higher in the winter and in major metropolitan areas though. You don't need a huge influx to overwhelm capacity. Thankfully we're not quite there yet but it's a lot more tenuous than people think. EDs are absolute nightmares right now though. Lots of patients being boarded in makeshift rooms.
