Archmere was a great school as well, at least back then. Sanford/Tatnall/Tower Hill -- all overpriced and bunch of spoiled rich kids. Whereas Friends was overpriced with spoiled liberal rich kids who smoked a lot of pot and took classes like "Peace and Social Justice"

I'm trying to think what the most popular thing my friend produced. He was a production manger on Intervention. But yeah, he does make good money now and was able to take some time off to just kind of travel Europe for a few months with the money he put away. (I doubt he's investing it though ) Edit: looked up his IMDB page. Some of the stuff he was a line producer on Selling Sunset and Car Masters: Rust to Riches And a production manager on Naked and Afraid XL. I'm going to text him about that one

I plan to just periodically remind my kids that everything is relative and not to judge anyone too harshly. There will always be faster, smarter, wealthier kids just like there will be slower, dumber, poorer kids. Unless they think vaccines change your DNA, in which case, they're F'ing idiots that deserve to be thoroughly mocked for it.

Maybe it's just the way that a math-inclined person's mind functions differently than others, but they just always seemed out of touch and unable to really break down concepts for less math-y types. I managed to get Bs and some As throughout high school, but I had to work twice as hard for it as in other subjects. The one year I got the good math teacher for calc, she left for maternity leave 2 months into the year.

We're going public for my guy unless he has some kind of specific interest/talent that fits better with one of the private/charter schools. I dunno I thought my education was fine but kinda want him to get more exposure than you get in most private schools. Plus it takes the sting out of our towns high taxes a bit.

I want her to have the best education. I want to teach her how to play golf (looking at joining Hartfield down the road). I don't want her to have the same anxieties about not having money that we had growing up. But at the same time, I want to make sure she stays grounded. I'm thinking the best route are lots of family trips up to Allentown NEPA to see where daddy came from might scare her normal.

I will say that the quality of the math faculty in public schools is very inconsistent at best. Some public schools have exceptional math teachers who understand the concept well and explain it to their students in a way that is effective and meaningful for their long term understanding, and others don't. Sorry to hear about some of the experiences some of you have had. I will say that the teachers in my department are more than capable with the material (at least enough to pass tests that are way more than basic math tests).

A question I have is, if I get the flu, does that make it easier to get COVID because my immune system would be taxed to the point of making a corona infection easier, essentially lessening the the effectiveness of the mRNA vaccine? Perhaps @DEagle7 or @we_gotta_believe can offer some insight? Honestly I don't think we know yet. Not enough cases of flu last year to have real data on the effects on co-infection. Theoretically your innate immune system being "primed" by an acute infection could help limit other infections, but also your immune system can also get taxed a bit in various ways following a bad infection. My biggest concern is that both can come along with an added risk of serious bacterial co-infection. If that risk is additive flurona could be a real problem. But ultimately hard to tell.

The extra tax dollars I pay are more than worth it just for that.

Fatherhood is initially scary but honestly it comes naturally once the kids are born. I try not to put my fears and my issues on my kids. I try to help them learn from my past mistakes but they also have to make their own to really grow. We don’t push them to do one thing or another. We set the ground rules, the expectations, and we provide an environment where they can be successful in whatever path they choose. The times are certainly different so we can’t make them live and learn from our past. Once you understand that, it’s easy! vikas the only concern is have for your kid is being poor. Other than that, go bang some chicks and bring forth the next generation of either doctors, or 7-11 franchisees. 😂

They also realize how fortunate they are. It can be a fine line though depending on the kid.

It’s easy, and it’s better than dealing with a flu (being ill, taking a week off of work, etc) One year I forgot to schedule my son’s flu shot. Of course he got sick with the flu later that winter. But while he was home sick for an entire week, I was better in about 2 days. I was feeling better before he did, even though he got sick first. Totally anecdotal story, but its how I relate efficacy of the Covid shots. It doesn’t mean you will avoid getting Covid entirely. You still might get sick, but it will be milder than not being jabbed at all. You increase your chances of clearing the virus sooner.
