Sure, except for the 1,300 or so each day that die from it.

Are those confirmed as Omicron deaths?

They're desperately trying to walk back the hysteria they created now that it's obvious it won't be contained.

Not to the the unvaccinated, who are filling up the hospital beds and dying as well.

luckily, my family members didn't get any really bad symptoms...the worst i heard about was a bad sore throat. most of them are vaxxed though.

delta is still out there too...we have relatives in the nyc area who have friends that tested positive for delta recently. (i guess some pcr tests actually tell you which variant you have?)

lmfao something tells me he'll come around to the idea.

Call it a hunch.

Just got boosted! Woot woot.

Fair bit of warning to any other parents with young kids...

Due to our covid scare with our youngest (tested negative with an at-home test, PCR results pending), I looked into treatment options approved for kids and unfortunately, there aren't many right now. Most of the mAbs are not effective against omicron, and the only one that is effective (GSK's), is only authorized for 12+. Pfizer's Paxlovid is likewise authorized for 12+ or only for kids with severely compromised immune systems. Merck's pill sucks, but I think it's in a similar boat. Remdesevir is for only immunocompromised kids also. Which basically leaves vaccination as the only avenue of protection available as a parent, and that's only if your kid is 5 or older.

Just saw a 7 yo girl get vaccinated.  She’s adorable and did great!

Which says nothing about now. The claim by Plankton is that it’s up 40% due to Omicron.

No, he did not say that it's up due to Omicron.   Go to the 23:30 mark.  He says it was up 40% in the 3rd quarter and is continuing into the 4th quarter.  The 3rd quarter is July, August, and September.  Continuing into the 4th quarter would mean into October.  This conference was on December 30th, so I highly doubt they had December data aggregated already.   Omicron wasn't identified in the US until December.

In my experience, it seems that the careless, unvaccinated folk have gotten this thing at least once if not multiple times (they often brag about it). On the other hand, the people who have been vaccinated, generally stay home, and wear a mask in all indoor public spaces have generally not caught the virus.

I am fully vaxxed, stayed home, distanced, wear masks etc.   I still got COVID 2 weeks ago.

It's sad but being vaxxed is not stopping you from getting or transmitting COVID. Thats just the truth.  FACTS. It appears to lesson the severity... so it has some benefits.

Once you have had COVID, you get similar benefits to being VAXXED. You get some level of  protection for a period of 3-6 months?

I'm not saying you can't get it, and we're obviously both using anecdotal evidence here, but out of my pretty large family, only one of us has tested positive. My brother seems to have picked it up at a Parliament concert in DC a couple months ago. Generally, though, when I hear about people having gotten COVID, it's usually the cavalier types.

It’s almost like a lot of people aren’t at the same risk for actually being real sick, and they know that, and act accordingly.

We’re talking about different’’he’’’s. I’m talking about the diminutive poster making incorrect claims about Omicron then, when called on, deflecting to the broader pandemic.

I don't really know any unvaccinated people. The people I know who got Omicron have all been vaccinated but not boosted, FWIW.

You mean- they dared to use Common sense and logic- with the facts known?

CDC announced earlier 75% of COVID deaths were people with at least 4 Comorbidities.    FOUR.

Right, COVID is less bubonic plague and more AIDS that rents instead of buys.

A ton of people I know have gotten it recently, (past 2 months) Better than 1/2 have been vaxxed, some just had their boosters, some not. SOme not vaxxed.

My Wife curiously did not get sick, and she just had her booster. To be fair she never tested, she just quaratined with me as if she had gotten it, even though she had zero symptoms, it is possible she was asymptomatic?

One of the people in my office had it with no symptoms. Her husband got sick, she tested positive, but just a mild headache for a day.

I do.  Our unvaccinated neighbors (my wife's best friend) have it right now.  Sounds like Delta more than it does Omicron.  The kids are largely over it, but the adults are still wiped out.  They're at the critical stage where they're starting to feel better.  That's where it either continues in an upward trajectory, or crashes into severe problems.  Needless to say, we're concerned.
