January 15, 20223 yr Back in my day Joe Rogan was a B-level character on News Radio. Our country was smarter back then.

Statistically insignificant. As a nation we weren't dealing with the pandemic in any real way until mid-March. My wife was in Puerto Rico the first week of March for a conference. The week before we ended up at the hospital. We were there only people in the emergency room and were in and out inside 90 minutes. As a public health crisis about 80% of 2020 was impacted by Covid. I don't know about that. How many states have gone back and looked at "flu deaths" in the 2019-2020 season before March 2020 and done biospies or other tests to determine of they were flu deaths or Covid deaths? I remember in March 2020 my state representative in Delaware saying that it was quite unusual that there were 1,000 more "flu deaths" in the 2019-2020 flu season here in Delaware than any other year on record, which they couldn't explain, and then a month later, the pandemic started. This was only speculation, but now that we have confirmed deaths in the US before when we initially thought Covid-19 reach our shores, maybe it was here much sooner than what you think.
January 15, 20223 yr A single day of 2,800 mild deaths from the mild cold. But I know, I know, they died "with covid" not "from covid". I'm sure their families enjoy hearing that theory brought up by every maga moron in earshot.

January 15, 20223 yr The Scandinavian countries have all pretty much reached the same conclusion and that is that Omicron cannot be stopped and that includes with restrictions like virtual school, early bar/restaurant closures, etc. Norway and Denmark have eased back and now Sweden has the most restrictive measures in place even while having the least pressure on the hospitals. Testing/tracing is also no longer recommended as a general tool but rather for local use. Distancing is still recommended as is masking in areas of congestion plus work from home when possible to help flatten the peaks. The focus is more on getting as much resources as possible into the medical industry and trying to protect the elderly thru local measures. Vaccines are seen as the only thing that will have any significant effect on limiting Omicron spread.

The average annual deaths over 10 years - with the last season tracked being the 2019-2020 season before the pandemic - is 34k. We've been averaging about 1600 deaths per day in 2022. So just in the first two weeks of the year we're at 22.4k deaths from Covid. It's not the flu. It's not a mild cold.
January 15, 20223 yr 2 minutes ago, JohnSnowsHair said: It's not the flu. It's not a mild cold. Yep. It is also the case that the spread of the current variant is unstoppable very few people (by percentage) find themselves falling into a serious medical situation. This reality is exactly what the WH and Fauci are trying to work with in their updating policy moves.

The best was when Rogan says "when we read these things, it’s like where are we getting this from?” And immediately wants to attack the source, not the info. Feel like I’ve heard that somewhere before. 😆
