There is no way that Applebees would stop anyone from dipping their balls in the salad dressing. First, the poors who eat there deserve a little ball sweat in their meals. And second, no actual Applebees customer would ever get a salad.

What asymmetric encryption, RSA, and other innovations have done is make it so that even the fastest computers in the world might take thousands or millions of years to decrypt by brute force. This means the ciphers are "effectively" unbreakable - but still breakable.

But quantum computing may have such high levels of parallel processing that they may bring the time way down. Then we'll need a new scheme. 

 

AES is symmetric (no public key) and you're off by many, many, many orders of magnitude. A 256 bit key is something on the order of hundreds of trillions of years at the very least.  I have my doubts that quantum computing changes things in a material way anytime soon.
