Omicron is mild for the vast vast vast majority of people who contract it.

Only if they're vaccinated. For those that aren't, not so much. And unfortunately we have a F ton of unvaccinated idiots in this country. And when they hear "omicron is a mild cold" they aren't gonna get off their ass and get vaccinated. For the majority of them, it's far more dangerous than a mild cold. There's a reason why mild colds never killed 3k people per day or caused massive surges that overran hospitals.

Look Slappy, your Ace. The point was clear. Sneeze or cough and stay home. Take a sick day.

I’ll ask it again. Why does a/the leading welfare market state national health care country based society pay nothing for the first day of a sickness? This after 50* years of experience with this sort of system.

First off, what about my Ace? Or did you mean "you're Ace", in which case that would make you a 2 of hearts I guess. Anyway...

I'm not arguing about staying home sick because I didn't reply to that, Slappy. I was replying to the part about wearing masks while you are work. And again, lots of people outside the US did that before the pandemic.

For the majority of anyone catching COVID of any variant the results are not serious. That doesn’t mean there aren’t seriousness consequences for many AND in particular those that are unvaccinated and/or in a high risk group. The #1 issue in the US is the complete level of ridiculousness in all the silly and stupid hyperbole driven by the hyper divisive political climate.

Which I spell corrected. You probably edited my quoted post. Slappy.

I was replying to the idiotic requests for people to stay at home due to a sneeze. Go to work and don’t sneeze on anyone. Simple.

I thought we’d already established to let the unclean masses of unvaxxed die off to make the world a better place?

PS- I was just at Doylestown Hospital not even a week ago. They’re not overrun. Got an excellent parking spot.

You replied to me though, stupid, and thats not what I was discussing. Next time pay more attention and you won't F up so badly and look like the village idiot.

And nobody edited ish. I'm going to assume you see how completely idiotic you looked coming off so condescending and now realize you were completely off base.

Also no, I will not go to work and you can't make me, Skippy.

This is why you never concede anything to this pathetic little pip-squeak.

"Awkqushually it's only ever mild for people who are vaccinated." Literally implying that unvaccinated don't have mild cases. Like the US isn't averaging 600K diagnosed cases per day which means with at-home testing and people who never bother testing at all our numbers easily exceed 1 million per day. But yeah, because it kills 3000 seriously ill or very old people per day that no unvaccinated person ever has a mild case. Oh, and that's if you trust the US government to properly distinguish people who die of covid from people who die with covid, which we also know they're great at.

Was able to hit the Whole Foods salad bar for lunch today, the first time since the pandemic started. I know we’re not back to ‘’normal’’, but the fleeting moments of normalcy are really nice when they happen, and seem to be happening a bit more often lately.

Not sure how that changes anything I said, but even so you're not only saying GFY to them but also anyone else who needs healthcare during a surge with an overburdened healthcare system, and then also anyone who works in said system. Maybe, just maybe, calling it a "mild cold" can have severe consequences and it would be prudent to take things a bit more seriously when it comes to the public health policy of a country where only a quarter are boosted and nearly 40% are still unvaccinated.

"Let er rip" might make sense for a country like a Denmark, but it's disastrous for a country like ours.

My crippled ass did tons of pull up yesterday though. Even with the rather high BMI I have by being 5'9 and 180 lbs.

Thanks for playing along 😄.

I assure you my saying it’s mild has 0 bearing on the number of hospitalizations and/or deaths…just like your rhetoric.

The problem with a lot of the discourse regarding COVID is that much of the media, conspiracy theorists, and even politicians speak in absolutes, which is simply not accurate.

If you go by statistics, the odds of having a hospitalization that requires a stay in the ICU is much higher in an unvaccinated individual than one who received their two doses and a booster shot. Keep in mind that the presence of certain co-morbidities, especially baseline COPD, can increase the risk of severity irrespective of vaccination status.

Can a vaccinated individual +/- their booster still get COVID and be symptomatic? Sure they can.

Could their respiratory status change to the point where they need to come into the hospital for admission rather than successfully complete their quarantine at home? Certainly possible.

Are they going to need high flow nasal cannula, CPAP or move to the ICU and get intubated? Unlikely, although the presence of one or more co-morbidities could certainly increase the risk of this.

What is more likely, is that a vaccinated +/- boosted individual needing to come into the hospital may require some supplemental oxygen through regular nasal cannula (perhaps 2-3 L) for a few days and then eventually get weaned off of it and recover. Hospitalized patients who need supplemental O2 would be candidates for IV dexamethasone (steroid) and remdesivir (antiviral). If you contract COVID and maintain appropriate O2 saturation without needing supplemental O2 (a.k.a probably don't need to be in the hospital for COVID management), it is not recommended that you get this treatment, per guidelines.

Keep in mind some severe COPD patients actually already use 2-3 L O2 at baseline on top of their inhaler regimen, so a patient like that contracting COVID would have an increased risk of worse outcomes/increased O2 requirements regardless of whether or not they have the vaccine, but in theory you want to do everything you can to minimize the odds of complications.

I'll end this rant on a lighter note...

It's not literally you, obviously nobody cares what you say. It's where you're hearing it from (i.e. Fox News) that's the problem. But whatever, maybe you'll come around another day. At least you could admit Carlson's a turd, so you have that going for you. Which is nice.

You think Fox News is the only media outlet that has said omicron is mild???
