June 26, 20205 yr These idiots... 120K dead here with cases spiking in the U.S. and HHS Secratary Azar just got up to a podium a few seconds ago and said we should all be thankful they ended an Ebola outbreak in DRC.

Feast your eyes on this absolute GOP specimen crying about seeing a jogger wearing a mask this morning. I also love how the Trump-effect on the Republican Party has made it somehow relevant and necessary for congressmen to waste everyone's time by complaining about the media during official business. Not doing anything about it, just complaining in an official capacity. They're just a party of talk radio show callers that like to hear each other whine at this point.

June 26, 20205 yr States going back into lockdown and this was Pence just a few seconds ago talking to Americans.

That's been the GOP strategy for decades, really. Be angry at someone. It doesn't matter who or for what. Just get people angry and blame them for... something. 1 minute ago, Mike030270 said: Are there any states that are actually doing well? Just get people angry and blame them for... something. It has but it used to be more complaining about Democrats or Democratic policies, which makes sense when your policy is in direct opposition to theirs. Now it's just idle complaining about the media to satiate Trump and the base. In their narrative, the media is the cause of all of the world's problems, but somehow the people that set federal policy can't do anything about it. I mean, it's not as if there hasn't ever been policy enacted in this country that deals with media bias. There has. And it seemed to work for the most part. I don't know if they should go back to it, but sweat Jesus, I'd almost rather they did then just constantly complain and pretend that their hands are tied.
June 26, 20205 yr I find it ironic how NY-NJ-CT are now requiring visitors from Florida to quarantine for 14 days. While Florida has not yet lifted the quarantine for visitors from NY-NJ-CT.
June 26, 20205 yr This is why Trump will lose a state like FL that's getting pounded by COVID-19 right now. Trump's entire administration is willing to hide key guidance and kill countless untold lives just to try to maintain their base of support.

Trumpbots choosing masks as a hill to die on has got to be the stupidest decision (practically and politically) that they've made thus far.

June 26, 20205 yr The reporter blasting Pence about having rallies in OK and AZ was funny considering she never brought up thousands of people protesting in cities the past couple weeks.

In all honesty, I'm completely torn on a number of COVID-related issues. I feel absolutely terrible for those who have lost their businesses and their livelihoods. I can't imagine what they're going through and I feel like the economic and mental health fallout from this pandemic will be enormous. At the same time, we obviously needed to take some fairly significant measures to try and contain the virus. Some people will think it's overkill and chant "mah rights!" and other people will think the measures didn't go far enough. I didn't wear a mask until recently, mostly because my area has such few cases and they keep trending even further down each week. But I had a bit of a change of heart, turned off my inner a-hole switch, and started wearing one to grocery stores and department stores. I understand why people hate wearing them. They absolutely suck, especially in summer. But how can people living in Florida honestly say they don't need to wear one when they seemingly smash new case records on a daily basis? F'ing people.
June 26, 20205 yr It's really not that difficult. Do I believe the government has a legal right to force everyone to wear a mask? Likely not. Do I wear a mask because I am not a scumbag of a human being and want this to be over? Yes. It's basically a question of whether or not you are a decent human being.

Governor Wolf has been steadfast in his slow-and-steady reopening. In Bucks County, where I live (population around 650k), we've had around 15-30 new cases daily for the last couple weeks and only a handful of deaths. We've been in the "yellow" phase until today, which means many businesses are shut down (gyms, salons, barbers, etc.) while others (restaurants most notably) were operating under restrictions. We moved to "green" today which is seeing more businesses open up, but still with restrctions. For this good sense? The Republicans state congress is trying to impeach our governor. They won't be able to, they don't have the support, but even the fact that they're making political motions to do so shows an astounding lack of connection to any sort of reality.
