It amazes me that some people say the vaccines don’t work when the severity and life of the virus isn’t what it used to be. It’s not fun, that’s for sure. Sore throat was the worse. But I’m on my way after 3 days and not in the hospital. Uh, that's typically what happens to viruses. They mutate to become more infectious but less deadly to the host. The vaccine had literally nothing to do with it. Glad you're feeling better, though.

You know, due to their risks of being naturally selected. Natural selection doesn't mean that the 99.999999% of children should be vaccinated against something that they are virtually immune to. I've already posted the statistics pages back, and all people could bish about was how I have no soul and BUT THE ONE WHO DIEEEEEEEEEEEED. You don't give an F about them. You all are only worried about protection yourselves because YOU are high risk! My grandparents got vaccinated. Great for them. My mom got vaccinated. Good for her. My dad got it. Good for him. They're all over 60 or have underlying health issues. Mine? Was my weight and cholesterol. As has been tracked in this very thread, I am under 170 for the first time since I was 19 years old. And I am kicking that chubby kid's arse. THAT is my vaccine. Best of luck to you. If all you care about is natural selection, then why are you demanding that others get vaccinated??????? @DEagle7 it was ^this assclown. Looks like he was censored banned. The plot thickens!
August 19, 20223 yr Yup that's right. Ah that was good times. We cyberbullied this dude into losing like 20 pounds before he got banned.
August 24, 20223 yr I've been seeing a lot of news incubation period for COVID-19 is trending shorter as the virus has evolved. This seems to be good news. Our immune system seems to recognize the new variants faster. (Our body can recognize it due to immunization? Prior exposure?) Folks that contracted alpha could have been contagious for nearly 5 days without having symptoms, where it is down to 3.4 days with omicron. Let's hope this means it is starting to behave like seasonal coronaviruses.
August 25, 20223 yr Which relates to a point about people saying "The virus becomes less severe over time! This is normal, so duh, COVID is no big deal!!" Except, really, that's not exactly how it works. What happens is that our bodies adapt to better recognize and combat the virus over time, whether through vaccination or natural exposure. The virus doesn't get less virulent so much as our bodies are better prepared to fight it. This doesn't mean that we all should've been breathing in each other's faces and and spreading the virus at will from the get-go. It is best that exposure and adaptation should occur very gradually and in the most targeted manner possible.

Yep exactly, it's amusing how many people fail to grasp the distinction between a virus being inherently less pathogenic, or as a result of our improved immune responses to it. There's a reason why the flu is still dangerous to young kids and RSV is a b**ch the first time they get it. Neither are inherently "mild" to someone with no immunity whatsoever.

We lost 1 million+ people in USA dead to COVID-19, and many millions more are suffering long-lasting health consequences, and that's after taking pretty drastic public measures to mitigate its spread. I can only wonder how many more people would have been harmed if we threw all caution to the wind.
September 7, 20223 yr After avoiding this thing for 2 and a half years, it finally caught up with me. Man has it hit me hard. I didn’t sleep much for the first 48 hours because I’d wake up in under an hour gasping for air. I can still smell and taste but otherwise I have every symptom I’ve ever heard of associated with Covid. Cardiologist recommended paxlovid. It was a tough call, trying to decide between the doctors recommendation of paxlovid and the horse dewormer recommended by Internet crackpots and Joe Rogan, but in the end I decided to go with the paxlovid. My fever has been gone for almost a full day and I finally slept last night. So hopefully turning the corner here. I’m relieved I haven’t had to go to the hospital. My blood ox kept dropping so it was close for a while.
