June 29, 20205 yr https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/other/breaking-eu-will-indeed-ban-americans-when-borders-reopen/ar-BB15Tcd9?ocid=sf2 Quote UPDATE: The New York Times reported late FridayJune 26 that European Union officials have decided Americans will not be welcomed when borders reopen July 1. The Times reports most travelers from the U.S. and Russia among a few other countries’ citizens won’t be welcomed because they have not been able to control the spread of coronavirus. The list was finalized this week, but still needs to be approved by leaders from each country, but according to Times’ sources no changes are expected. Neighbors in Canada will be allowed to visit Europe. The New York Times broke the news back on June 23, suggesting that the European Union was planning to exclude Americans when they reopen borders on July 1. The news once again dashes the hopes of those looking for a summer vacation in Europe. For more TPG breaking news, sign up for our daily newsletter. The Times got a look at two potential lists being mulled by EU officials. The lists are of countries whose citizens will be allowed in, and Americans are not on either list. According to the report, the two lists were being prepared based on the number of cases of COVID-19 and how well governments are doing controlling the outbreak. The countries that made the cut include China, Vietnam and Uganda. Russia, Brazil and the U.S. are all being seen as unworthy of inclusion. The New York Times says it confirmed the information with four unnamed sources.

Wait, weren't you calling everyone who wanted to reopen a month back stupid and selfish constantly? Now you're participating in slowpitch softball? Monster!

June 29, 20205 yr 9 minutes ago, Kz! said: Wait, I was told BLM riots actually cured the virus. What gives? I thought the narrative of the past week was how cases are spiking everywhere in the 20-30 year old demographic. So...I'm guessing to prove your point, you'd have to say that Minnesota has more protests (or "riots" as you call them) than other cities...which maybe could be done. And then you'd have to show that the Minn spikes in this age group are higher than those in other cities. And then we could say "Minn has a lot of protests" + "Minn has a sharper spike than other spikes" = Minn protests are causing the spike. And that's under the assumption that 20-29 year olds are the bulk of the protests, which might be fair.
June 29, 20205 yr 20-somethings are also the ones going out to bars/clubs/beaches/parties/etc. at a higher rate then the older, married farts...eg. most of us.

They're also the demographic most impacted by increased testing. Healthy young mildly symptomatic people largely weren't getting tested until relatively recently. It's the same reason why mortality rate is "decreasing" in most places.

He’d at least be able to try but early on it would have been fought like crazy I suppose I'm one of the "certain people" who would have been suspicious of Trump expanding the list of places he's allowed to ban people from. But with that said...these "certain people" are way way way off the list of those he gives a damn about when it comes to implementing policy. He is trying to take another swing at Obamacare during a pandemic after all. Guy kinda just does what he wants and lets the chips fall where they may.

It would take a long time to make it's way through the courts, at which point we'd have been deep into the pandemic. And I would imagine the courts would give the executive a lot of leeway when banning travel right now anyway. Not to mention, he did some European travel restrictions after that abomination of a speech addressing the country sometime in March. He just also left off some Covid hotspots for some reason.

I know the median age for positive cases in Florida dropped to the mid 30s, which means a WHOLE LOTTA cases came in for the 20-29 age group - how big were the protests in Florida?

Not NYC big, but Miami and Tampa had good size ones. Heck, my small city of Naples had some that were over 1,000. There also was an "All Lives Matter" rally of about the same size. No masks in that one.

June 30, 20205 yr This whole thing is stunning to me. The virus, protests, I voted for a president who I am certain will go down as one of the worst. Ever. Study our history. We are human. All we know, or should I say want is to survive. It’s an instinct that has gotten so misconstrued by entitlement, judgement and way too much legislation. Our ancestors whether they came here of their own free will or not (ANY RACE) did what they had to to survive. Yes we had a revolutionary and a civil war. Get over yourselves. Live your damn life everyday. We are all going to die. Personally, I can’t wait. I don’t want to leave my kids just yet. I may very well leave this world with them not re producing and being the end of a bloodline. If so, I did the best I could. I wore a f’ng mask!!!

Our league is still in "wait and see" mode which seems rather pointless considering a) Only gatherings of 10 people or fewer are permitted right now in Ontario and I don't see that changing for at least another 2-4 weeks, and b) the league typically wraps up by the last or second-last weekend in August anyways. Seems like the best case scenario is that we play for a month and likely with masks on (which half the teams will likely beyotch about anyways). Just shut it down and be done with it.

What are your thoughts and predictions on what Ontario will do before Labor Day? My family has a cottage on Lake Erie in Port Colborne, and I would like to get at least a couple weekends in up there, like I have for pretty much every summer of my life. I also have friends that run bars in Crystal Beach and Port Dalhousie, and I would like to visit them.
