I had an exterminator here last week that said the same thing. That we should all just try to get it all at once and get over it. I really did not like having someone who thinks that way in my house, but at least he was wearing a mask.

Our district is looking at either full-time in school if we stay green or 2 days in school (kids split Mon-Weds and Tue-Thur) with 3 days online if we revert to yellow. Teachers would have a work/planning day on Friday since they'll be doing more work to prepare, review, and monitor in person and online lessons if we go yellow.

Superintendent of the district where I teach sent out a message on Monday that as long as we are in yellow or green we will have all students in school all day full-time, with no real mitigation plans (students have to carry masks but don't have to wear them, and other half-assed ideas). My wife is high risk due to her MS, and I'm irate that they don't seem to be taking things seriously at all. I did even more work than usual teaching online in the spring, but would much rather do that again than put her at risk. These are the kinds of attitudes that made us 2020 COVID State Champs... GO LEBANON!!!

idk about where you live but many schools in this area sent out surveys asking parents what they'd like to see when school starts back up in the fall.  just got a letter from my kid's school saying 74% of parents want normal back to school...of course assuming all health precautions are taken.  i'll be surprised if that happens.

I've gotten a few surveys already.  If my kids aren't in school full time I'll drive them to the superintendents house and drop them off and let him handle the homeschooling.[/s]

It's going to be nearly impossible for a lot of families with elementary aged kids to not have them going.  People have work that is scheduled around school being in session.  Not everybody is fortunate enough to be able to work from home.  So you're going to tell a single parent household to shell out an extra 10k a year for someone to watch their kids and ensure they are doing online school work?  I just don't see how it is going to possible for a lot of families.  Older kids maybe a hybrid system will work, but these young kids need feedback constantly.  The way our "online" school was setup was an absolute joke.  Took way longer to do things than it should have.  Me or the wife spent half the day working with them on school work.  Not to mention they have all the home distractions that compound it.  If we get half the teacher's salary and benefits I'd be more open minded.

Just read an article that Wolf's "it" signed an order to wear a mask outside of the house............

Good Luck with that.

The next time Kz walks into a McDonald's everyone is going to stand up and clap.

Down in Sea Isle a few times this summer and everyone is staying away while on the beach.  Kids may be the exception since most kids are oblivious to people while running and playing around on the beach/in the water.

Florida sent out a similar survey with similar results. Currently, my wife and school are planning on returning a little over a month away on 8/10/20. I listened in on her zoom meeting and it was laughable. K through 4 full time, desks 6 feet apart, breakfast and lunch at your desk, same classroom, limited teacher/individual interaction. The other grades are doing some hybrid thing.

That would harsh my mellow. It’s the beach, man...give me some space! I don’t want to hear my music AND yours.

I find it hard to believe the spread of the virus here is because of the beach, because we seriously do tend to keep a very respectable distance, even before COVID.

Its probably spreading because of those old swingers in The Villages and their Cuckold Caravans.

North Carolinians are split about how to reopen schools this fall, a new poll finds.

Though there was no majority, 38% favored sending students to school part time. A full-time return to school drew 34% of support, and completely remote work drew 29% in the Elon University poll.

Jason Husser, poll director, said it’s unusual to see that type of divide in the results.

"It’s a testament to how complex and difficult and uncertain the decision will be,” he said. "The story of COVID-19 has been a story of uncertainty.”

The poll was "done in partnership with The News & Observer, Charlotte Observer and Herald-Sun.”

In North Carolina, public school buildings have been closed since March to help reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

I personally prefer solitary beaches on off days but in PR, Miami and even some east coast beaches like Jersey, they have that Brazilian beach party culture where the umbrellas are all kinda rammed up against each other and they can smell each other's glistening ab bronzers.

Other States call them Senior Centers.

Yes, that’s what your parents/grandparents, who retired here, are doing.

A report released Thursday from the Government Accountability Office levied criticism at the CDC for combining active cases of the coronavirus and positive antibody tests, which may give a misleading view of nationwide testing and spread.

Yeahhhhhh boiiiiiiii!

Pa. Supreme Court sides with Gov. Wolf on emergency order

The state Supreme Court sided with Gov. Tom Wolf in his battle with the General Assembly over the state’s emergency declaration due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The high court ruled Wednesday the state General Assembly can’t act unilaterally to end Wolf’s emergency declaration. The court said the legislature can’t use unconstitutional means to overturn the governor’s decision to suspend laws, since the General Assembly already gave that power to the governor.

The GOP-controlled General Assembly in June passed a concurrent resolution that directs Wolf to issue a proclamation or executive order to end the COVID-19 disaster emergency. The governor issued the order on March 6 and renewed it on June 3.

Republican lawmakers insisted that the governor has no power to veto the resolution, which Wolf vowed to do. The case went to the state Supreme Court.

The court’s ruling states, "The General Assembly must adhere to the constitutional requirement of presentment even when attempting to overturn the Governor’s delegated putative authority to suspend laws.”

In recent weeks, the governor has already moved virtually all of Pennsylvania’s counties to the green phase, the least restrictive in his color-coded plan to reopen the state. Lawmakers said there was a pressing constitutional issue to affirm the legislature’s power while limiting the governor’s ability to act without the General Assembly.

Lyndsay Kensinger, a spokeswoman for the governor, said Wolf welcomed the decision.

"The administration is pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision keeping in place the disaster proclamation to assist in the state’s response to the pandemic and to provide protections for businesses, workers, and residents,” she said in a statement.

The Wolf administration had argued Pennsylvania’s constitution states that every order, resolution or vote "shall be presented to the governor and before it shall take effect be approved by him, or being disapproved, shall be re-passed by two-thirds of both Houses according to the rules and limitations prescribed in case of a bill.”

Citing past rulings, the court determined the state Legislature previously has determined governors "should be able to exercise certain powers when he or she makes a ‘finding that a disaster has occurred or that the occurrence of the threat of a disaster is imminent.‘”

GOP lawmakers argued the governor’s orders have crippled businesses across the state.

Wolf had argued the state Constitution backed his authority to implement his far-reaching order. The state Supreme Court concurred.

"The General Assembly, under its lawmaking powers, could have provided the Governor with less expansive powers under the Emergency Services Management Code,” the court stated in the ruling. "It did not do so.”

Earlier this month, the Senate voted 31-19, with two Democrats siding with Republicans, to approve the resolution to end the emergency declaration. The House approved it by a 121-81, with 12 Democrats siding with the GOP majority.

Charles Mitchell, president and CEO of the Commonwealth Foundation, denounced the ruling against the General Assembly.

"It is striking that the principle of checks and balances between branches of government has been so deeply tarnished in the very state where the U.S. Constitution was created and just days before we celebrate Independence Day,” Mitchell said in a statement.

Matthew J. Brouillette, president & CEO of Commonwealth Partners Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Inc., assailed the Supreme Court ruling.

"Unfortunately, in a devastating blow to representative democracy, the court today ruled that crises are grounds for ignoring our constitution, trampling the voices of the people expressed through their elected representatives, and granting one person sole and unlimited power to destroy businesses, create new classes of criminals, and endanger livelihoods,” Brouillette said in a statement.

Supreme Court Justice David N. Wecht wrote the majority opinion; Justices Max Baer, Debra Todd and Christine Donohue joined the ruling. Chief Justice Thomas G. Saylor and Justice Sallie Updyke Mundy dissented with the ruling. Justice Kevin Dougherty filed a separate opinion, concurring and dissenting with aspects of the majority opinion.

Across Pennsylvania, more than 87,000 people have contracted the coronavirus and nearly 6,700 deaths have been tied to COVID-19, according to the state Department of Health.

I presume that you'd still be on private property letting your dogs out, so you're good.

Shared backyard

F'ing idiots

Went to Harrisburg for family. Stopped at a couple of gas stations in VA. One had no one wearing masks. Another had practically everyone wearing masks. One gas station in PA had a mix. Also saw a mix of people(wearing and non-wearing masks) just walking around and whatnot while driving down some streets

Just observations
