Damn. I figured we'd at least get a couple of weeks in before the season went off the rails.

Yeah quicker than I expected.  Not a good look.  Not good for other sports attempting to resume either.

but let’s send all the kids back to school - that’s surely safer than baseball.

Also, the Phillies are making their visiting clubhouse staff quarantine. Yankees will bring own clubhouse staff.
My question:  Why does any team have local staff interact at that level with the visiting team during a pandemic???    What is MLB thinking????

As of July 16th, they had 6 positive tests out of 10,548.

These ball players aren't waiting a week for test results?   They are paying a hefty price for all this testing I assume??

Does this mean the Phillies can't play now too?

Yes. But the concern has to be that, with no bubble, any one person could bring it into a clubhouse from outside. Once inside, it then runs rampant. They didn’t plan well enough.

Canceled tonight, at least

Also, the Philadelphia hotel where the marlins are staying is now a covid hotspot for for local workers.

If Phillies end up testing positive, season will likely be canceled, imo

there are just too many players in mlb and the nfl & too much travel. the nba has a chance of making it since they're keeping the entire league under quarantine...but the mlb & nfl are screwed.

The Marlins played the Braves last Tuesday and Wednesday . Watch them, they may start testing positive first.

Yep. The whole thing reeks of desperation.

It's like every horror movie where a character retreats to a basement or the attic and gets whacked. You're like, yeah that's exactly what's supposed to happen because you made the dumbest decision possible for that situation. Contact sports involving dozens of players, coaches, and trainers during a pandemic? What could possibly go wrong?

There we go.

Have you tried putting tape at the top of your mask to seal off the area around your nose?  This should reduce the chance of your glasses fogging up.

I'll try this going forward, I've got some athletic tape lying around somewhere.  Thanks!

Have heard from multiple people now that it is taking over a week to get back test results. That the best we can do?

My initial thought was it depends on where you are, and how many tests have to be processed. But if they go to national testing centers then it doesn't really matter since they have to process from everywhere.

My friend in florida couldn't get results back for at least a week if he did a normal test, ended up doing a rapid test and as lloyd noted in the below quoted post, it was a false negative. His doctor said the rapid tests don't really work, I guess in that particular doctor's experience so far.

Yep. Got tested last Monday (was exposed to a friend who had a fever)...national testing centers are logjammed.  They say 7-10 days.

Rapid tests are an option, with a faster turnaround, but there's a 20% chance of false negative with those.

Quick update.  Last few days got worse with chest congestion.  Earlier this evening i realized that i was working to breath.  Then started feeling more like pressure on my lungs then congestion.  Called my primary and he sent me to the er.  02 level is at 73% on room air. Got admitted.  Told them no breathing machines unless im unconscious.  I'll update when i can. Thanks for the well wishes.  If crap goes south, my wife knows my login info and will keep you guys updated.

Think positive and get well! You can beat this!

WTF happened?  It seemed like you were experiencing a somewhat mild form of this virus and then BAM.  72% blood oxygen is nothing to screw around with.  I hope the therapists, docs and nurses can get your levels back up quickly.   Praying for you!!!!!   Hang in there.

That's what I was thinking. He gave some updates about doing well and then boom.

Stay strong man. -_-
