I never thought people actually ate food at a strip club

Well, we are back to Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycn is a cure and a preventative, and is a big ole fake news conspiracy.

Apparently the "doctors” pushing it also believe HIV doesn’t cause Aids, vaccinations cause Autism and being gay takes 20 years off your life. Oh and they want Fauci to take a urine test to prove he’s not taking Hydroxy regularly. And MAGAs are buying it all up

Weekly update from the Doc

https://www.nothingbutthetruthmd.com/2020/07/72620-covid-19-update.html

ON JANUARY 19, 2020, A DATE WHICH WILL LIVE IN INFAMY, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WAS STEALTHILY AND

DELIBERATELY ATTACKED BY AIR AND GROUND FORCES OF COVID 19, MEMBERS OF THE CORONAVIRUS PARASITE GANG.

THE ATTACK WAS UNPROVOKED, AND SINCE THAT DAY, A STATE OF WAR HAD EXISTED BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES AND

THE COVID VIRUS GANG.

OUR RESPONSE TO THIS SNEAK ATTACK HAS BEEN DELAYED AND DISORGANIZED.  THE RESULTING PANDEMONIUM HAS

BROUGHT ON UNTOLD ECONOMIC DAMAGE AND THE LOSS OF 146,143 AMERICAN LIVES.

AFTER SIX MONTHS, DUE IN LARGE PART TO POOR LEADERSHIP, DISBELIEF, APATHY  AND TERRIBLY IRRESPONSIBLE

BEHAVIOR BY A SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE OF OUR CITIZENS, WE ARE GETTING ARE ASSES KICKED.

I absolutely disagree with the idea that we "opened" too quickly, as I don't believe we ever needed to "close".  We did fail to embrace the concept that we can only participate in activities that can be accomplished when distancing or wearing masks.  The fact that we are now  going further into debt supporting those whose expression of personal freedoms are making others sick is irksome.

SARS-CoV-2 is a new virus, we are still very much on the steep part of the learning curve to understanding the diseases that it causes.  We know now that younger people are getting infected in greater numbers than we saw early on, and that there are delayed responses to the virus such as new onset diabetes, vascular phenomena, stroke, neurologic problems and inflammatory diseases, not to mention the expected pulmonary problems.

Over the past four months, I have talked so much about masks that I can do it no longer.  So, not that they aren't important, they are, but I have said all I can say.

VACCINES

The preliminary data on three more vaccines has been released.  All have produced promising antibody responses and have similar side effect profiles as the vaccine that was presented in my 7-15-20 email.  All four candidates will be entering clinical trials by the end of this month with data probably by November.

Rapid Decay of Anti-SARS-C0V-2 Antibodies in Persons with Covid-19

F. Javier Ibarrondo,M.D et al.

NEJM, 7-21-20

Thirty four participants (30 with PCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection) had blood analyzed by enzyme linked immunoassay to detect antibody to SARS-CoV-2 anti-receptor-binding domain IgG.

Most of the patients had mild disease.  The mean age was 43, there were 20 females and 14 males.

Thirty one of the 34 had two serial measurements of IgG levels, three, had three levels performed. The first measurement was obtained at a mean of 37 days after symptoms, the second level at a mean of 86 days after the onset of symptoms. Based on the two levels a 1/2 life of 36 days (26-60 days range) was determined.  This antibody degradation is quicker than that of SARS-C0V-1.  We don't fully understand the nature of the protective effect of antibodies or specifically which antibodies are protective and at what level.  Five half lives would represent 95% degradation.  It would appear that 300 days, based on this data, is the outer limit of antibody level.    Another study (Clinical and Immunologic Assessment of Asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 Infection, Nat Med 6-18-20, Quan-Xin Lang, MD)  has reported similar findings.  Based on these reports it does not seem that antibody protection will be long lasting for SARS-CoV-2.

By comparison Varicella Zoster antibodies have a 1/2 life of 50 years, Measles antibody 1/2 life is estimated to be 200 years.

There are increasing numbers of reports of "second" infections, (which have not been proved by culture of viable virus).  This is concerning however, given the fact that immunity may last only three to four months.  This should be stimulating Public Health Officials to come up with a plan for vaccination (or other therapies such as monoclonals) that would be effective given the forgoing constraints.  Public Health Officials have not been particularly stellar in planning thus far.

Conversations with Dr. Bauchner 7-23-20

Editor JAMA

Updates on Covid-19

Eric Topol, MD

This 40 minutes presentation covered several topics, one of which I will no longer discuss.

School - - Opening schools in low prevalence areas such as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and other low prevalence areas should be accomplished, with precise plans for tracking and testing so that we might better understand transmission from younger people to other young people and to adults.

Dr. Topol called it "CRAZY" to contemplate opening schools in states such as Florida, Georgia, Texas, California and other high prevalence states.

Both Dr. Bauchner and Dr. Topol are very concerned about the complications of school openings on the greater population along with the influence of the Flu come the fall.  They referred to the problems Israel ( a country that was very well controlled) is experiencing with their school openings.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy - - Although the development of monoclonal antibodies has been overshadowed by the vaccine news, Dr. Topol is excited about the roles that monoclonal antibodies might play in helping to contain the virus.  They have been successfully used in non-human primates both as prophylaxis and therapy.  With monoclonals, there is no concern for antibody enhancement as there is with vaccines.  Dr. Topol was concerned about scalability, but in a presentation I watched by a research group working on monoclonals, they did not feel that scalability would be a problem and even stated that manufacturing of large numbers of doses would be practical.

There are several monoclonal candidates already in clinical trials and these therapies may be available by October.  This would be particularly useful for the at risk populations and healthcare workers.

Be Well

This is New Zealand.

They are having Rugby games with packed stadiums.

Their government made the right moves and the people cooperated.

They have a life now while we continue to let people die so some of you dipwads can go to bars and kill your friend and families and those of the people working there.

Kudos!!

They should be commended for handling it properly.

That said, you can't compare at island nation that is roughly 100,000 square miles to a country that is 3.7 million square miles.  lol

I think the main difference is that New Zealand has much better leadership.  Not geography.

Since numbnuts is still pushing hydroxychloroquine today, here's a twitter thread of studies showing it does not work from a prominent public health expert out of Harvard (click on it for the results of several studies):

That lady doctor also believes we have sex with demons/witches in our dreams which injects us with demonic sperm, the government is made up of reptilians, and alien DNA is in modern medicine.

being an island and not having nearly as much international travel (though certainly some) as say NYC certainly helps.

it has less than half the people by density as well.

both of these help. it's not really that comparable.

Four more members of the Miami Marlins have tested positive for the coronavirus after the latest round of testing, sources familiar with the situation confirmed to ESPN.

It’s about contact tracing which the U.S. doesn’t do and has no plans to do.  There’s no chance to stop the virus without it.

sure, that is helpful. but it's also easier to contact trace when a population less than the Philly metro area is spread out over a space the size of Colorado.

not saying we can't learn something. this administration has put a premium on doing the absolute minimum to respond to this crisis, and to try and ignore our way through it. so it's certainly fair game to hold our government accountable for its inadequate response.

but what works for NZ isn't necessarily going to work for the US. we're too big and complex. it won't even work for one particular state, unless that state is Hawaii.

There is not stopping it now so any suggestions now are like a cows opinion, it’s moo.

You’re right about states not even stopping it let alone this country.  Look at New York,  they locked down and had huge spikes and still do and people Aren’t leaving their buildings.

unless we literally all stay home for the next 90 days and quarantine the front liners so they don’t go home and carry the virus outside of the contamination zones, there’s literally nothing we can do. No amount of mask wearing or keeping 6’ apart is going to stop this now.  It’s too late.

You can still slow it down enough to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed. There is a balance we can strike if we had actual leadership willing to tell people that they're going to need to make sacrifices.

Unfortunately you have a lot of entitled babies in this country that think being asked to wear a mask is tantamount to fascism.

Does it say if they are stuck in a hotel in Philly now for 2 weeks?  The whole team?  Or just the positive players/staff? Do they have to cancel their upcoming games?

Not necessarily true.  Japan had very relative little testing.  They were criticized early on for their lack of testing.  But they've contained the virus excellently, because they have a population that has wearing masks ingrained in their culture.  During normal times, it's customary for Japanese citizens to wear masks if they have a cold so they don't spread their germs to each other.  So they had high, early mask compliance during this pandemic.   Basically adopted the mindset of, "assume you have the virus when you leave your front door"

"America's Frontline Doctors"  what a f-cking joke.  A group of quacks spreading disinformation bullsh-t.  And then our dubmass president shares their video.  Unreal.

The disease does not care about borders.

The virus got to New Zealand the same way it got to the US.

They took measures. The US choked on a D

Well, that's the thing, it really didn't get into New Zealand much.  On March 19th, they stopped most foreign travel into their country, and any returning citizens were required to quarantine for 2 weeks.
