July 30, 20205 yr Not cheering this death at all. 2020 is a mf’er. But......Herman Caine was likely to be still alive if he had not gotten tested.

But even more puzzling are the folks who continue to do so as the death toll piles up with more public figures dying from Covid. Sadly, doctors and medical experts have lost the information war to the GOP. I honestly don't get it either. I mean do they think everything we see on TV is staged? A husband dressed up in a hazmat suit sitting by his wife as she takes her last breaths. Do they think these people are actors?
July 30, 20205 yr So sorry to hear the news about Cain. RIP I can't believe his Twitter account posted this less than 24 hours ago. I wonder how skeptical his communications staff is? They were tweeting this as he was dying of the virus. "But the government! But the news!" I don't know if conservatism is a mental illness... But it sure can be despicable.

Quote If you have cancer now or have had it in the past, you have an "underlying medical condition” or "pre-existing condition” that can put you at higher risk for serious problems if you become infected with the new coronavirus.Your immune system may not be as strong as it was before cancer. Many cancer treatments make the immune system weak. And other things, like stress, diet changes, and sleep problems, can also impact your immune system.A weakened immune system makes it harder for you to fight infections, including a coronavirus infection. It also makes you more likely to have complications if you do become infected.
July 30, 20205 yr Interesting. I read where that if you're in active cancer treatment, or less than a year out of treatment that cancer is not an underlying condition.

You'd always theoretically fall into a slightly higher risk category, but the actual degree of that risk would range pretty dramatically depending on the type of cancer and therapy you went through. Some cancers require long term maintenance therapies that can affect the immune system. Can't speak to what category Cain would fall into though obviously.
July 30, 20205 yr I'm not shedding a Fing tear for Herman Cain. I can give you 9-9-9 reasons i'm glad and I spit on his grave. the Tulsa rally didn't happen in March, it was in JUNE. When we all knew a thousand times over that this was EXACTLY the type of event guilty of superspreading the virus. This dude cheered from the VIP section at Trump's last desperate chance to deny the pandemic, a pandemic that btw has disproportionately killed minorities. This is the one COVID death that can legitimately be construed as a necessary sacrifice. This needed to happen to the hard right.

He's worth tens of millions, he had 20+ more years to live. Too bad, sucker, you'll be lucky to get a tweet from the Snake Oil Man.

July 30, 20205 yr Update. Today's chest xray looked good. Breathing has become less stressful. On room air im up to 88% pulse ox. Dr says when get to 95% , I can go home. So hopefully tomorrow or Saturday. My wife was able to see me as she is a nurse in the system. I haven't seen my kids in almost a week, which sucks. The bear hug pressure isn't as bad today, so all signs looking good. I will say though, that seeing 2 people in room around me get carted down to the morgue from this crap has really put some fear in me... for my wife... my kids... family..etc... you just never know whos going to get it or how bad its going to be. Be smart everyone.

Just wondering, how did you feel about the virus a few months ago, and did you socially distance and wear a mask leading up to the time you got sick?

The wife is an RN and says they've been administering oral doses of Dexamethasone to COVID patients. They can also do it through a puffer/inhaler, but it has to be done in a negative pressure environment due to the possibility of the virus going airborne. It's typically used for patients with asthma and lung issues. Get well man. We're all rooting for you.

My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic so we have been taking every precaution possible. Limiting store visits, social distancing, masks in public, etc. Im pretty sure i know how i got it, but can't prove it. I think i got it from pumping gas without gloves on, then touching my face. I can't recall going anywhere in public without a mask and washing my hands.

The fact that the first sentence is, "Even though Buddy had cancer," makes me question it a little.

I was thinking earlier am I getting to complacent? There’s been a few times I’ve been like oh ish where’s my mask and not using the hand sanitizer after leaving a store or the gas station every time. I will now. Best wishes to you and your family.
