After that late July peak, we remained steady for two weeks and have dropped slightly the last two. the question in my mind is whether we commit to mitigation long enough to keep it dropping. governors and, yes, the president keep wanting to declare this thing is over way too prematurely. I get the impulse of wanting to move past this, but until we have a vaccine or sufficient treatments we're going to have to live with masks and distancing. it really boggles my mind how masks have become so politicized. it's a nuisance and an inconvenience, yet some want to make it some sign of oppression.

I have seen some of the anti maskers on facebook. Their whole attitude is "Nope! F you!". It's a f'n mask. I was wearing a green mask with little black polka dots from schmoopies fab fit fun box for a full month before my eagles masks came in. No excuse for not doing what should obviously be the right thing to do. Even if it makes you look like a gay mortal kombat character.

It is obviously easy for me to say since I don't have to wear one but I don't see why it is such a big deal other than due to the politics. If the decision is to wear masks then git er up and wear one and show some solidarity. If I get over during this thing I'm not going to think twice, I'll have one on and gladly so.

No no no no no no no. Smh......... Over half of the adult population has at least 1 comorbidity. So when ANY adult dies for ANY reason, there’s already over a 50% chance that they have a comorbidity. This doesn’t mean that the thing that killed them didn’t actually kill them.

At the same time, looking back and seeing how coronavirus deaths were categorized needs to be scrutinized and the death tool re-evaluated. Here in Delaware, early on, anyone in a nursing home that had a Covid-19 patient and died for any reason within 14 days of that Covid-19 patient being in the building (day of death or leaving alive) was considered a coronavirus death. So there may be natural cause deaths or heart attack deaths or pneumonia deaths in Delaware's coronavirus death count. But who knows if thats 10 people or 100 people or 500 people.

September 4, 20205 yr Delaware came off of Massachusetts' list of quarantine states. That's significant because Massachusetts had stricter positive test rates than New York (and Connecticut and New Jersey). New York said any state with a positive test rate of 10% or over had to quarantine when entering the state; Massachusetts said any state with a positive test rate of 6% or over had to quarantine when entering the state. Just like Trump said positive cases go up because testing goes up, positive cases can go down because testing goes up. I have been getting tested more frequently, with no need to, in order to contribute to our positive test rate lowering, to make it easier for Delawareans to go to other states and not have to quarantine.

The "official" COVID death count is an undercount, not an overcount.

I mean, what do you want medical professionals to lie about what killed someone if they are past a certain age? How is that any different from a 100-year old person having a heart attack and dying? Better call up the AHA and tell them they're fudging the numbers!

Nobody honestly knows Another guy died in a motorcycle accident in Florida earlier this year. They said it was COVID just because he happened to have COVID while the accident took place

Again, from 2/1 to 8/1 there have been 210,000 EXCESS deaths in this country. The official COVID death total during that time is 158,000. Have there been some deaths misattributed to COVID? I’m sure there may have been. Have there been waaaay more deaths due to COVID that we’re misattributed to other causes? It absolutely looks that way.

I would argue that the coronavirus was going unchecked in the US since December (and that March and April were the second wave, not the first wave). Many flu deaths were likely coronavirus deaths. Again, here in Delaware, there were about 1,000 more flu deaths this past winter than any other year, ever. This is the same place where after we knew about the coronavirus, attributed any nursing home death within 14 days of a patient in-house having the coronavirus as a coronavirus death. So there is simultaneous undercounting and overcounting.

Had that been the case, then the surge in hospitalizations and ICU admissions seen in March/April would have been seen MUCH earlier.
