November 19, 20204 yr More than 900 Mayo Clinic staff members diagnosed with Covid-19 in Midwest over two weeks https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/19/us/mayo-clinic-900-staff-positive-covid/index.html Because of idiots. The WHO advises if 95% of people wear masks, you wouldn't need lockdowns.

Additionally, there is evidence of the 2nd wave in Europe and in Sweden starting to wane. Too early to call it a done deal but great news IF it holds.

I really hope because this thing is beyond out of control. Pennsylvania had 7,000 new cases yesterday. I wish there was a way you can find out how many Covid-Positive patients are in your TOWN, but I've only been able to see "by county."

We live in Chester county and you can get down to the township: https://chesco.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html For example, we have had 154 cases and 2 deaths.

November 19, 20204 yr A bit off topic but just something that has helped us during the first lockdown: Amazon Prime Credit card gives 5% cash back for Amazon and Whole Foods purchases if you have Prime. It feels a bit like getting a discount at the Company Store, but with how reliant we were (and probably will be again) on those delivery services it ends up being a solid chunk of change. Plus, it's not like I need any more Fing travel miles at this point.

November 19, 20204 yr This is pretty cool: https://covid19risk.biosci.gatech.edu/ It gives the likely risk of coming into contact with an infected person in a county based on event size. You can toggle the number of people at an event on the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
November 19, 20204 yr Just got an e-mail from the kids school.... first confirmed positive case in the student population. Kinda surprised it took this long, but it still feels a bit unsettling.

Kinda surprised it took this long, but it still feels a bit unsettling. I've seen a lot unfortunately But with tracing and separation protocols the schools around here have at least been able to identify kids that came into close contact that needed testing/quarantine and let the rest of the kids return after sanitizing. The good news is at least some crappy preliminary data shows that schools haven't been as big of a source of spread compared to other sources. So there's some hope schools may be able to limp through this thing relatively safely. Hope your kid stays safe.
