She's an OB and I'm a pediatrician, we have 5 nieces and nephews and most of our friends have kids, this was planned and yet we still feel wildly unprepared. Yeah the vaccine will be a question mark. Shes a "frontline worker" and the vaccines women get during pregnancy haven't really shown any issue. But with the newness of this one and lack of pregnant women in the studies...who TF knows. It will be an interesting decision. If anyone wants to come visit they're sure as crap getting it beforehand at the very least. Deekhead My life isn't very exciting now anyways. As long as that lil Fer can handle some travel in those early years it's not like my social life is gonna take a massive hit. Congrats! You are never prepared, so you just have to wing it just like the rest of us parents do. About the vaccine: A decade ago there was a push to get everyone to boost their DTaP/Tdap for pertussis. Having babies around then was a good incentive to get all of the grandparents and family to comply, even when I didn't think they would.
November 19, 20204 yr People fly redeyes because they want to sleep before going to work. I flew them a lot when I was younger. It was a way to work all day in LA, sleep a few hours, then go straight into meetings in NYC. Don't be an inconsiderate arse and bring your crying toddler on a flight where people need to sleep. Pretty simple stuff.

This weekend is typically the busiest grocery shopping for Thanksgiving anyway. Now everyone is cooking their own holiday dinner at home and stocking up for pandemic supplies at the same time. It'll be real ugly. I don't envy you.

That's torture for you, the kid, and all the passengers. It would have to be a dire emergency.
November 19, 20204 yr One nice thing about being a parent is that you can sleep right through other people’s kids crying on an airplane.

Not with a toddler, but I did keep a pair of ear plugs on the night stand for some of those rough nights in first couple months of caring for a newborn. Only had to use them once or twice, thankfully.
November 19, 20204 yr Alright @vikas83 would you rather 1) have 1 infant on every flight you ever take going forward 2) replace every in N out with a Fuddruckers 3) have Amy klobuchar as the VP elect for Biden 1 minute ago, DiPros said: Congrats DEagle7. Although like you said this is a new level with it being the holidays and a pandemic. I'll be investing a lot into alcohol lol

I figured making her president would be too much. I still like the idea that you'd rather have a 78 year old's health be all that separates someone you hate from the presidency than miss out on some animal style lettuce wraps

Every President makes my life a little worse than the last one. At least she isn't an imbecile who might bomb Iran because the TV is saying mean things about her.

I know everyone loses track with my "small" reports but we had almost no testing back in March/April. You couldn't get a test if you wanted one. Only admitted patients could get tests in the beginning. I still fully believe I had it in early February (and my wife) and was just never tested. So our 2nd wave is about 50% of the first wave so far if you use admitted patients and deaths as compariitve metrics. That is where we are right now but it is still early days so any conclusions are premature. However, for the 1st time today I've seen some MSM reports that say we are starting to wane in Sweden. WAY too early to do anything other than say there are positive metrics for the first time in a while.

In all seriousness, best of luck to you and the wife. Well that's pretty easy when your trip is just across North America. Once you start crossing the globe all of that useful ability to figure out three/four one hour time zones goes out the window. When you're doing the NA thru Europe to SE Asia or equivalent game the terms change. At that point it is pretty much Lord Of The Flies territory.
November 20, 20204 yr The difference is I know about a ten people who got sick with COVID this month. I knew about ten people who got sick all of spring and summer. Even if this is anecdotal, it just feels like we're heading towards a long winter.

Yeah, we flew back from Hawaii to the Eastern U.S. The first flight was a normal time (Honolulu to LAX), but I think the second flight was a red-eye.

My one non business red eye experience: We took a red eye to Rome for our honeymoon. THE PLAN was to sleep on the flight to combat jet lag. But since I booked international first class suites it felt like a waste to not enjoy every single minute. So instead we passed out in a common area of the Waldorf because our room wasnt ready.

Burger Rankings of the three most discussed: 1. In n Out 2. Shake Shack 3. 5 Guys I really miss the burgers in the Standard Tap. 90s maybe, early 00s they had one of the best burgers in the city. In N Out is the most overrated fast food I have ever eaten at in my entire life. If you have to get a burger with crap slapped all over it, it's not a good burger. Their fries are also by far the worst of any fast food restaurant. It's not bad (except the fries) but it definitely is not top 3. Idk if I put 5 guys in the same category as the rest of the fast food joints so for me Wendy's (baconator is king) McDonald's Whataburger In n Out Jack in the Box Burger King
