That dude got what he deserved

I agree, he clearly deserved the alleged millions he got in a settlement from United.

Edited so paco can unbunch his panties.

A little late to this but didn't see it posted in the past

No worries, I was kinda vague when I posted it.  But yes I am defending the people protesting.

Link?

Remember that high pitched scream he made?

But I'm not shocked that he staged an incident to blackmail an airline for money.  Dude was a gambling addict (pictured below) who was convicted of trading drugs for sex.  Another lowlife scumbag.  :nonono:

$140M apparently. Sounds like he'll be flying first class from now on.

JFC, THAT'S what you decided to pull as proof?

The articles states

Quote

Previous reports say that United Airlines reached a confidential settlement with Dao to the tune of $140 million for the injuries he suffered, including a broken nose, a concussion, and broken teeth.

Since I'm not a someone who looks for things in my echo chamber and calls it a day I decided to read this report, since I have never heard of it.  If you click the link and the article is actually boob

In China, rumors are flying about David Dao’s alleged $140 million settlement from United Airlines

So "Previous Reports" is actually some rumor in China published by "Mokey Cage"

95% of the time I ignore you.  The other 5%   when I know you are going to go full 🤡.   I purposely wrote "link?” because I knew the amount was never disclosed. But somehow you managed to fall for $140 million hook line and sinker.

I clearly said "apparently" as in "this is what this report claims". Would you feel better if I said "the alleged millions he received"?

Those "reports" that he allegedly received 140 million via rumors from China

I don't dispute he got a payday.  But it had nothing to do with anything United actually did.  He was doing his press tour giving them tons of bad publicity thanks to the viral video.   If that video didn't exist, he would have gotten ZERO from United.  Why?  Because they did nothing wrong.

1) When you buy an airline ticket, you agree to a code of conduct.  If you break that code, the airline reserves the right to remove you from the flight.  He did, so they did

2) United were not the ones who caused the injuries

3) Even if they were responsible for the injuries, the injuries sustained would barely crack 5 figures in a lawsuit with a good lawyer, which is why falling for 140 million is so Fing hilarious.

It's obvious that this lowlife created a situation and seized an opportunity to get a payday.  In one corner you have a company that followed their policies and did NO physical harm to the "Dr." and in the other corner you have a lowlife (again, convicted of trading drugs for sex) with a gambling addiction who created a situation to get a payday.  I'm not shocked you continue to side with the lowlife to stick it to the corporation.

Oh ok, thanks for the in-depth explanation, paco. Your DDS has been clearly noted.

140 million he thought.  "Sounds like he'll be flying first class from now on" he smugly said.

One of our neighbors' got it.  The husband, who is supposed to be quarantining as well because of contact, just delivered some homemade bread he made last night as a thank you for doing some shopping for them :D

Japan borders now totally shut to non-Japanese and residents of Japan.

I think we about to enter the period where we will see the most stringent measures of shutdown.  It just seems natural for people to want to buckle down more as we get started with the vaccines.  The opening up is going to be tricky until the point where people are convinced everything can just fully open again.

Yeah gonna need that cattle brand before you can enter target and Walmart soon.

On a related note my dad (nurse) got the first dose of moderna.  Second dose in 3 weeks.  No ill effects as of yet.

Late with this weekly update:

https://www.nothingbutthetruthmd.com/2020/12/122020-covid-19-update.html?m=1

This is the last email before the Christmas, whether you celebrate or not, I would like to wish EVERYONE a joyous week.

In this season of goodwill, of caring and loving our neighbors, friends and family, my wife and I will be celebrating home.  We will be zooming in on some Christmas Eve celebrations.   In all honesty, I am beyond tired of wearing a mask at work all day and every time I leave my house in anticipation of being with others, even at a prescribed distance.  BUT that is the reality of Covid.  My home has truly become my castle, I enjoy being home more than ever,  it is the only place I don't feel the need to wear a mask.

For those having friends or family over for a meal, utilize whatever mitigating practices you can.  Distancing in an indoor area without a mask is not necessarily effective in halting transmission.  Keep some windows open while eating, keep your heater fan on, if you have a HEPA room air filter use it.

People with fever, cough or malaise should really stay home.

We are looking forward to walking around our neighborhood on Christmas Eve, enjoying the lights which seem to be overly abundant this year.  For certain we are looking forward, with anticipation, to a more normal holiday season next year.  On life's scale of tragedies, the restrictions of Covid this year, do not make the list.

HOUSEHOLD TRANSMISSION OF SARS-CoV-2
A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS
Madewell, Z
JAMA  12/14/20

Fifty four studies involving 77,758 participants were reviewed.
Transmission was higher in household where the index patient was symptomatic versus households with asymptomatic carriers.

Crowded indoor conditions with sustained close contact and conversations are particularly high risk setting. (like 10 people sitting around a table for 20 minutes eating a holiday meal)  Distancing, staying at least six feet apart in an indoor setting without a mask is not necessarily effective in stopping transmission.

Over all household transmission was 16.6%

VACCINE

Operation Warp Speed did not infer that vaccine development was "rushed".  The rapidity of development is the expression of extraordinary scientific advances and the tireless work of thousands.

We have all heard about the 95% efficacy of the two mRNA  vaccines, but what does that mean?  These two vaccines are 95% effective in halting clinical disease or hospitalization caused by SARS-CoV-2.  We do not know whether they prevent subclinical infection and more importantly, whether they prevent an infectious state.  That will be determined in post marketing investigation.

There is a disconnect between the news of distribution and the reality of distribution, with much finger pointing.  It is becoming increasingly clear that the expected quantity of vaccines available, especially before the end of the year, are not going to materialize.  The first phase of distribution, frontline healthcare workers and residents of long term care facilities and their staff, may not be immunized as quickly as hoped.

Significant allergic reactions to the vaccine have made the news since its public release.  Not surprising that something previously unrecognized would pop up when hundreds of thousands or millions started receiving the vaccine.  People with a diathesis for allergic reaction were excluded from the clinical trials.  It does not mean that these individuals will not or should not receive the vaccine, it does mean that they should receive the vaccine in an environment where they can be observed for allergic reaction and receive treatment if necessary.

Post Licensure Surveillance - this will go on for two years and will be mining from a variety of "big data" banks.

Questions to be answered:

1.  Safety
2.  Efficacy
    a.  prevention of disease (the clinical manifestation)
    b.  prevention of infection
    c.  prevention of infectiousness
3.  Duration - Dr. Peter Marx recently commented that he was hoping for six months to a year
4.  Drift - how will the vaccine work if there are mutations, mRNA vaccines are easy to modify.

MONOCLONALS

AN EUA FOR BAMLANIVIMAB -A MONOLONAL ANTIBODY FOR COVID-19
JAMA  12-11-20

Lilly's monoclonal neutralizing IgG1 antibody has recently been granted an EUA for the treatment of recently diagnosed mild to moderate Covid-19 in patients older than 12, weigh at least 40 kg. and are at high risk for progressing to severe disease and hospitalization.

The is risk stratification at its beast, and necessarily means that you will receive the medication before the progression of disease. Waiting for obvious signs of progress will be too late.  Remember, this is an antiviral, and there is no evidence that live virus is present after day 9 of infection.  I would not expect, and one could not readily explain any benefit from administration after day 10.

ELIGIBLE PATIENTS CONSIDERED HIGH RISK

BMI > 35
Chronic Kidney Disease
Diabetes
Currently receiving immunosuppressive medications, Immunosuppressive disease
Age > 65

For Patients > 55

Cardiovascular disease
Hypertension
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

For patients 12 - 17

Sickle cell disease
Congenital heart disease
Cerebral Palsy
Pulmonary disease requiring daily treatment

IF ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT IS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19 AND FITS INTO ONE OF THE STRATIFICATION GROUPS PLEASE ENCOURAGE THEM TO SEEK THIS THERAPY.  CALL ELI LILLY IF YOU NEED TO.

Since it is the season of goodwill, even if you don't particularly care for the individual, nudge them in the right direction.

This is the only really effective treatment that exists and so far it appears that it is underutilized.

NUMBERS

Deaths - there were about 18,099 covid related deaths in the last seven days bringing the pandemic total for the US to 316,202

Case Fatality rate - remains unchanged at around 0.98%

Hospitalizations - continue to rise and on a national level are at about 116,000

New Weekly cases - up about 9.75%

Enjoy the day

Not sure what it looks like to be honest.  Last I read they thought the larger fully on mass level stuff wouldn't be until March.

As someone who has a disability that effects the lungs and other body parts, I wonder if there is a chance I'll be on the list sooner than the normal walkies.
