I have 1 dog and 2 kids. They adapt and are more resilient than adults IMO. The kids I mean. The dog doesn't care either way.

While others are so worked up they should probably just hang themselves to get some relief. Which group are you in?

The lack of discipline is mind boggling.  Two more months.  that's all they had to wait.

Down from 300k new cases a day a month and a half ago.  And the weather is still perfect to spread it.  If you dont find that encouraging, I dont know what to tell ya

My comment was more or less related to economics. It's one of the few areas where me and vikas find common ground, lol.

Yes but daily cases have been on the rise, it was about 50,000 a week or so ago. I think it was a CNBC article  I read today that said it will take a year to release an updated vaccine just for the South Adfrican variant, plus it takes another 2 years at least probably 4 to vaccinate the entire world plus more variants.

While I believe we may never irradicate COVID-19 totally, I am encouraged I will beat the 1 in 656 odds of getting it.  Only have another month or two to go. Once vaccinated I will feel even better.  I wasn’t as fortunate to beat the 1 in 8 for breast cancer but I’m still here. It’s expensive, but I try to look at it as I’m getting better overall healthcare now in spite of losing that one.

Joe, I’ll share one last thing. Starting to worry about you, maybe step away or don’t read so much. I had a really really tough week.  I made a phone call, and just like that, old Di is now medicated.  It’s only been a few days and already the feeling of my head might explode is Gone!!! You may also want to consider medication.  Hang in there.

Where are you seeing that?  Because according to worldometers they have plateaued (dropping slightly), not risen.

Ok, now to your other point.  I looked up the article you referenced. This is what it said

Quote

So far, studies suggest that the vaccines currently in use can recognize the emerging variants — but they don’t provide as much protection against these new strains. The variant from South Africa, for example, reduced Pfizer-BioNTech’s antibody protection by two-thirds, according to a February study. Moderna’s neutralizing antibodies dropped six-fold with the South Africa variant.

So, they DO work, just no where near as well.  More to the point, Novavax COVID-19 vaccine shows efficacy against South African SARS-CoV-2 variant.  To the tune of 50%.

So is this ideal? No. But it sure as hell gets us a lot closer to heard immunity with the new strain and we will not see nearly as many deaths with a vaccinated population.

I get that this is your schtick and you are most likely trolling.  But if you are going to site articles, such as the one in this post, don't misrepresent them.  And if you are going to quote numbers, like in my previous post, don't make them up.  It will make the troll job much more effective.

GF has been feeling kinda crappy after the first Pfizer shot, which she got Friday morning. I know that a lot of people got knocked on their ass after the second dose, but I hadn't heard about the first one being rough. Anybody with a similar experience after the first shot? How long was it until side-effects subsided?

Don’t waste your energy on him. He’s trolling with a very old, tired and unfunny shtick because be desperately needs attention, even from strangers on the internet.

I had Pfizer - first shot for me, I felt like crap within 2 hours of getting it and was very tired and groggy for about 36 hours after.

Had the second shot this past Monday.  Felt fine Monday night but woke up middle of night with severe chills.  Would go from multiple layers needed to warm up to sweating all over.  I slept all day Tuesday and most of Wednesday.  Still felt crappy Thursday, Friday felt more normal.

Sounds like I had more of the worst case.  Have family members who got second shot and had no issues outside slight tired.
