Seems to me the college weight is due to having access to the student dining rooms more than anything.

My covid weight was all booze. After I went back to work I got a new found appreciation for General Grant when he was bored. Not being on the offensive is offensive to the mind.

I think for them, like you, it’s alcohol. Specifically beer. If you drink 10 beers in a day you’re basically gaining a full pound of fat.

I put on about 5 pounds in the last year, 190 to 195. Don’t have a way to measure body fat though. I try to lift 3-4 times per week, so maybe (hopefully) 3 pounds of fat gain.

Fair enough. Hadn’t heard you talk it up until Covid.

I’ve heard good things from friends, but I  usually just go running outdoors for cardio. Will probably have to go with a bike soon so my knees don’t get too messed up.

Unless you're a highly motivated runner it's tough to get as good a workout from jogging/biking yourself compared to something like a good spin class. I always prefer to run outside and try to be good about throwing in some intervals and hills etc, but from a pure calories burned and HR range relative to time POV it's just not on the same level as the peleton. FWIW.

I do about 4 miles, nice incline for about half of it. Mostly I just enjoy being outdoors and listening to a book on tape or podcast.

I don’t really need to lose weight though. Mostly it’s just maintenance. If I start getting too close to 200 I just cut out cheat meals or, god forbid things get really bad around the belly, alcohol. That usually does the trick after a month or two.

Like I said though, I know it’s bad for my knees, so I’ll have to make the switch at some point.

BMI is a terrible measure. It’s all about body fat. As long as you’re not carrying a bunch of extra fat, weight doesn’t really matter.

Agree. Get mine tested every week now.

Darren Sproles was 5’6” 190 lbs.

Vikas is 60 pounds underweight

Aren't most body fat measurement methods unreliable? The skin resistance ones are thrown off by surface moisture and the caliper ones are prone to error too I thought. Only legit way might be volumetric displacement via a dunk tank.

I’ve had a bod pod done before, used air displacement.

I think the calipers are fine if you aren’t a pro athlete or whatever. Kind of a "close enough” situation as long as the person doing it is competent.

Question for the group, because I don't know.  Does it matter if I get my second shot from the same location or not?  Obviously I need to get Pfizer for my 2nd since that's what I got for my first.  But I went to a drive up, no appointment clinic for my first and I know there is a drive up no appointment mass clinic in Greensboro on my way this Thursday and it would be awesome if I just jump off the interstate and get it done then.  It shouldn't matter if both clinics were no appointment clinics.  Right?

Yes, it matters. Every single distribution center in the world gets a very different vaccine and they are only compatible if you go to the same place.

If you go to a different location your P will shrink from its already microscopic size. Plus the RFID tracking chips won’t work.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Did the result say: "One person at a time, please."

As long as you're getting the same type (Pfizer) and you're 3 weeks past the first shot (again for Pfizer) then location shouldn't matter.  Just make sure you bring your card with you so they can confirm your first dose and write in the data on your second one.

Unless the clinic has a specific rule against it.  Might need to call to confirm it's cool. Sorry I haven't had much experience with the drive-up no appointment sites.  Medically it's fine, logistically pop up med sites have goofy rules sometimes.

So she got off and it still said that? Damn, tubby, put down the fork.

Krispy Kreme will offer free doughnuts—all year long—to people with COVID-19 vaccination cards

So basically, people fat enough to get the vaccine get free doughnuts.

Said this exact same thing to my friend yesterday when he told me about the krispy kreme situation....

The reason he was standing there telling me this was because he was helping carry my 450 haul of costco goods into my apartment lol.

College freshmen gain like 30 pounds when going to school. That’s with a peak metabolism and being forced to walk everywhere.

Now take all the older people in the country and lock them inside with nothing to do but eat.

Basically, anyone with self discipline probably kept the weight off, some people like our dear Vikas found themselves with some extra time and picked up an exercise hobby, everyone else just magnified their sloth.

right, that's what I'm saying. there's a baseline of weight gain for certain demographics that isn't being accounted for here. you could probably take any typical year and find a fairly significant number of people who say they put on undesired weight, and that the average amount of weight gain within that group could be like 20 lbs. especially focusing on demographics like millennials who are in prime "getting fat" years under normal (non-covid) situations.

pile a pandemic on top and I'd not be surprised to see the number go up more. but not 0 -> 29 lbs. maybe 20 -> 29 lbs.

Dayumm. Vikas can leap.

Got my shot yesterday (pfizer). Had an appointment but it was still a 2 hour wait. Arm soreness and very tired but otherwise fine.

Unsurprisingly, Republicans proved more knowledgeable about coronavirus whereas dems were more likely to overestimate its effect:

An astounding 41% of dems think that half the people that get coronavirus have to be hospitalized lol

If they had polled CVON it would have been over 90%
