I get that democrats are essentially lockdown/restriction masochists at this point, but it's actually good news that Sweden did much better than most of Europe even without stringent lockdowns. That's a good thing. We should be excited that hard, economically crushing lockdowns are not in our best interest. Freedom and government recommendations are the way to go and always have been.

Sure, not trying to say they're exactly apples to apples. Just pointing out that if you're looking for a comparable cohort as far as climate, population, culture and timeline of when COVID first entered the country (eg Italy getting hit hard early) then the other Nordic countries are probably as good as you're going to get when it comes to looking at Sweden.

Yeah it is for sure. The one dynamic that is really quite different is the demographic aspect. Sweden has twice the population of Norway and twice the immigrants (more or less). Also Sweden has a much greater level of larger concentrations of people. So I agree there is value in comparing them but it isn’t as straight forward as some in here want it to be. Plus there are other things like regular flu results from the last few years that contribute to the COVID damage. Simple comparisons of one statistic just don’t tell the story I’m afraid.

Oh HEYAL no.  I know his name too and I can't remember it right at the moment.

DieHard on the old board.  His first name is Mike.  Last time I saw him he was still rocking an Al Harris Jersey.

Mine is at 4:20 on the 30th. I tried to not visibly smirk when the attendant scheduled me. @DEagle7 any contraindications for MJ and COVID vaccines?

After my second shot all I did was sleep all day, so I'm convinced it is weed

I think it's your moral responsibility to try it out and report your findings to the cdc.

basically supports the notion that early on blue states were most impacted, but they got control of things by early summer; since July 2020 the case and death rates in red states have been much worse than blue.

which is crazy because we knew a helluva lot more about how to treat the virus in the second half of 2020 than the first half. yet here we are.

People still won't wear masks, or follow any other guidelines.

There is nothing you can say.

Our state is burning again. Second highest weekly increase in all 50 states, only NJ is worse. We just had parent teacher conferences and made the decision to pull our kids out at least until a week after Easter. So infuriating.

A bunch of selfish, ignorant, despicable a-holes.

I'm really curious to what % of people are in fact this way, and also where the "hot spots" of this behavior are.  I know its purely anecdotal, because outside of Chester County and our shore house I've only been to Orlando and Tampa so my interactions with people has been very limited, but I really have not experienced this.  For me at least, it feels like everyone is wearing masks and its the people that have their noses sticking out over them I find myself rolling my eyes at.

Ducey lifted all the remaining mandates out here in Arizona, so it's open season. We never really shut down in the first place which is why we were one of the worst spots in the world at one point a few months ago as far as per capita positives. This is the busiest time of the year for us in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area as well with Spring Training, Barrett Jackson, and overall tourism.

Numbers are on the way up on this side of Lake Huron too. The 7 day rolling average has increased every single day for the last two weeks. The Toronto area just came out of enhanced lockdown/restrictions and vaccinations are happening at a snail's pace. Not to get too "Joe Shades" here, but we're in some trouble.

The bloom coming home from Miami ought to be pretty wonderful.

I’m being 97% sarcastic and 3% annoyed because we’re still in this mess. Chalk it up to spending my second consecutive birthday and my daughters second consecutive birthday in this mess.  Just annoyed...and venting

We all Fing annoyed and if someone would have given a damn and just promoted masks for 9 months we wouldn't be in this mess.

State health dept just released age based data for hospitalizations. A six fold increase in the 30-39 age group and an eight fold increase in the 40-49 age group. Has all the hallmarks of one of the more virulent variants but I'm not sure how much of the samples they've sequenced to confirm. I might start cold calling clinics and pharmacies every day to see if they have any extra doses left over from no shows.

Is it the UK variant that's prevalent in Michigan? That seems to be the one that's spreading here. Also seeing a major upswing in infections/hospitalizations in both age groups you mentioned.

Got my shot today at a mass vaccination site at the fairgrounds.  On the way out the couple in front of me took their masks off and were smoking cigarettes.  I couldn’t help but notice the guy had on a Daytona Bike Week 2021 t-shirt.
