For a point of reference, the risk of blood clots on oral birth control pills is about 1:1000-10,000.  Not all of those are severe though.

Joking aside, like the approved mRNA vaccines, they are more similar than they are different. Both viral vector delivery mechanisms using an adenovirus (Ad26 in the former, chimpanzee in the latter.)

Right, I figured they were probably very chemically similar, so it's not really surprising. I was gonna use that Scooby Doo meme to show them pulling the hood off J&J as AZ, but my meme-making skills are lacking, lol.

So if I get the Moderna is one of the side effects a strong urge for prostate massages and ejaculating on therapists?

There will be no way to now to convince the anti vaxxers to get the vaccine. It will be either forced vaccinations or no end to this

Never going to happen.  Places like schools can make a vaccine a requirement for enrollment but that's about as far as it can go.

Was there an end to measles? Polio? Whooping cough? etc

Yeah.  Once the whole general public gets their shot at the vaccine we can let natural selection weed out the rest.

Sure, that’s sounds great but I don’t think the CDC will share your view

This is true. Like that time they forced MMR vaccinations and gave thousands of kids autism. Boy was their face red.

Since 1979, no cases of polio have originated in the U.S. However, the virus has been brought into the country by travelers with polio. The last time this happened was in 1993.

Measels was also eliminated in the US, but hanks to anti-vaxxers traveling and bringing it back to their anti-vax communities we get breakouts every few years.

And whooping cough also making a comeback

Very few contagions are ever truly eradicated. Small pox being one, and polio is on the brink, but their mere existence doesn't mean they still have any impact on our daily lives. And that's with measles being ~6x more contagious than coronavirus.

Thanks to people who won't get vaccinated.

I grew up before we had a vaccine for chicken pox. My oldest daughter got it in Spain when I was in the USAF - I must have gotten it then but not noticed.

I did notice when I got shingles years later. I really wish I could have had the vaccine. Shingles ****seased goat balls.

Got my second shot this morning. Got that double derna. Ready to watch an entire phillies double header if I start to feel crappy.

The one benefit of a year of isolating is that I haven't been sick in over a year now. Forgot what it's even like.
