Really - one name - an omnipotent seer of a novel pandemic virus outcome?

I cannot think of one.  Old advice: wash your hands, stay away from symptomatic people and stay the hell home if you are not feeling well.

Pretty sure that was a convenient backpedal - even thought so at the time.

Wait, which side of the argument are you on here?

The vilification of Fauci is insane and exactly why intelligent, rational people don't want anything to do with public service, so instead we'll end up with incompetent, irrational morons in these positions. Basically a perfect reflection of our own collective incompetence and irrationality, as we've seen the last 4 years. We get the leaders we deserve.

This. A million times this.

We get the leaders we deserve. The rot at the core remains the rapid decline of intellect and knowledge among the voting public.

The one where he gets to keep posting his stockpile of Fauci cartoons.

Yeah Mikey Mack, I notice you "like" the Fauci cartoons so I'm not surprised you got hurt feelings over them being called out.

repug leaders & media have successfully brainwashed their moronic followers to the point that they mock science & facts and view a college education as a negative. they're the free-dumb party. 🤡🌍

The Democratic party is only slightly better. They have brainwashed their followers into believing that nothing is their fault, rich people are to blame for all and economic systems that miserably failed and resulted in human atrocities are the way to go. And that's without even getting into all the woke/PC stuff.

Dumb people on one side call people on the other side...slightly dumber. America 2021.

He lied to the people in an effort to prevent people from hoarding them.  This was wrong.  He shouldn’t have done that.  It helped sow distrust in the government.

I've felt for a while that two falsehoods at the beginning of the pandemic really opened the floodgates for distrust and general civil disobedience with Covid restrictions... the first being the aforementioned mask issue, and the second being "two weeks to flatten the curve." Obviously with it being a novel virus they had limited knowledge of how long this was truly going to last, but putting a timeline on it of any kind was just stupid. I'm not saying vagueness/opaqueness would have been a better strategy, but I feel like they backed themselves into a corner right off the bat by attaching time to it. Two weeks later cases kept exploding and you already had a portion of the public feeling like they've been lied to. Not a good start.

I always enjoy the left claiming itself the party of science while also championing trans rights

There's been a far left in this country that bent towards socialism for over a century.  This isn't anything new and it's never resulted in our country becoming the USSR.  The woke/PC stuff is obviously new and stupid though.

The problem is two fold:

1. The message "we really don't have a clue because this thing is new" isn't exactly confidence inspiring

2. The imbecile in charge wanted to re-open by Easter 2020

The issue is people are too stupid to realize that when dealing with a novel virus, information will change and our understanding of the virus will improve. As we get more info, recommendations will change because that's how science works. But people just want to dunk on people on the other side for being "wrong." It's pathetic and sad...small people making themselves feel better by believing they are smarter than the experts actually trying to help the country.

Didn't help the smallest, dumbest, most insecure idiot ever was leading the whole thing and looking to blame everyone but himself.

They have NEVER been this powerful. A socialist finished second in the Democratic Party's Presidential primary in the last two cycles. Harry Truman is rolling over in his grave.

There is no debating the Democratic Party has moved massively to the left.

Both parties are as skewed to the extremes as I can remember.  Now would be a great time for a moderate 3rd party to emerge but there's just too much money, corporate interests and political Fery tied up in the two parties.

I 100% disagree.  Obviously, Bernie's prominence and public branding as a flat-out proud socialist is new (and Warren too for that matter), but FDR was undoubtably a socialist and so was LBJ if we're going strictly off of the policies they implemented and no Dem President since has held a candle to either of those two, despite the fear mongering on the right.

And all of that seems pretty healthy in a normal society.  There should be a balance of left vs. right, ideologically.  If there was a healthy Conservative party, the left's crowing about needing a stronger social safety net would be countered by a consistent conservative vision.  And, ideally, the end result would put us somewhere in the middle.  The problem right now is that the Republicans aren't a healthy opposition party with a consistent ideology.  They're a fascist mess of personal grudges and next to no conservative principals.

both extremes are horrible. but when you're all both sides-ing, don't forget that the dems nominated their most moderate candidate while the repugs chose to worship donald trump.

People say this all the time, but I can't really think of anything Republicans have done that has shifted the country to the "right" in any meaningful way recently. I mean, they didn't even attempt to reign in spending during Trump's presidency. If you watch early Obama speeches from like 08, he sounds further right on many issues than the current GOP.

I mean they really had no choice but to let the incumbent run.  Dems basically handed Hillary her nomination and her treating her candidacy as a victory tour and not doing some self reflection of just how unlikable she was to not only repubs but Bernie Bros gave us Trump.  He knew his base and pandered to it and made sure they came out in droves.  We were saying it was the end of the dem party 4 years ago, too.  Repubs have a lot more clean up to do with the waste Trump left behind though.

Problem is he hasn't gone anywhere and he doesn't plan to.  There's more mess to be made.

I'm hoping they can distance from him but that's not going to happen overnight.  Trump is not one to avoid the spotlight for long.

The high watermark for liberalism was in the 1960s.

Socialism has never been a thing in this country and it’s still not.

lol a small government libertarian would never be seen as a "moderate" in today's political climate. Can you imagine what the left would say about him when he started drastically reducing the budget and cutting handouts?
