Apparently his sister's boyfriend got it and immediately developed heart issues that, while rare, are absolutely occurring in thousands in people who have gotten the vaccine. I honestly don't know why dems can't handle people having a difference of opinion than them on this subject. If a young, healthy individual accepts the risks associated with getting Covid and chooses not to get the vaccine, it really shouldn't be a big deal to anyone. If you trust the vaccine to either prevent you from getting the virus or at least prevent you from becoming seriously ill if you catch the virus, you really shouldn't worry if other people don't want it.

I mean, I can handle a difference of opinion, but it doesn't seem like Hopkins in this situation can handle the reaction to it. So, he doesn't have to get the vaccine if he doesn't want to, but retiring over it? Kinda seems like an overreaction.

The mRNA vaccines claim 95% efficacy against becoming asymptomatic (even Delta) but without testing everyone all the time we'll never know if that's accurate. As long as people continue getting only mild symptoms with the vaccine it really doesn't matter.

It was estimated to be roughly 90% efficacy in prevent asymptomatic spread with the original strain, so it can't be 95% when it comes to delta.

All of these numbers are starting to blend together.

Sad. Quote On July 8, he posted another anti-vaccine joke and criticized what he termed undue pressure to encourage people to take the shot. He wrote alongside the post: "i'm not against it, i'm just not in a rush to get it… ironically, as I continue to lay here, in South Corona, in my covid ward isolation room fighting off the virus and pneumonia. And no, i will not be getting vaccinated once i am discharged and released." Well, now you're dead.

And then the people who are worried about what it will do to their bodies as they're dying. FYI, you can't use your body anymore after you die.

Israel is the leading example right now as they are the furthest in to the delta wave while also having large numbers of vaccinated people. So far they see LOTS of cases but very low rates of hospitalization/death. The UK is just behind them from a timing perspective. It isn't time to celebrate but things look good so far regarding the question of how the vaccines will hold up vs. delta. Boosters will be given to those at risk due to underlying conditions in any case.
