The Only point they have  that is valid is children under 12 can not get the vaccine, ok fine mandate masks in schools in areas with high outbreaks

My wife and I just had this discussion. Our kids can get vaxxed.  I said just keep the schools safe and we can socially distance them where possible.  We’ve made it this far without them getting it.

I am placing bets on another lockdown though.  I give it a month and we’ll be ordered to stay at home, vaxxed or not.

I have a good friend that had their own child in the hospital for covid for almost three weeks.  She still won't get the vaccine so I think from here on out the people that aren't getting it aren't going to so you may be right.

That should be considered child abuse

Exactly.  The 46% of unvaxxed morons aren’t growing a brain anytime soon.

Look, I did what was asked of me. But I won’t go back to wearing a mask. These Fs told me that the vaccine was effective and even if it’s a breakthrough case it won’t be serious, so they can go F off cuz I’m not going back to wearing a mask. Sorry.  Punishing me for the morons out there who won’t get vaccinated won’t suddenly make those morons go get vaccinated.  And if they think that it will they are dumber than kkz says they are.

Meh, it's just a mask. "Punishment..." how melodramatic of you

We're supposed to wear masks to protect the people who are waiting to make sure we don't die from the vaccine first. That makes sense.

No, the point is that you can't trust unvaccinated people to mask, as we all knew. The CDC apparently thought the honors system would work, otherwise the initial move was taken purely for political reasons, which I speculated at the time and now pretty strongly believe was the case. Morons.

It’s not just a mask at this point, they think that making everyone wear masks again is somehow going to change unvaxxed peoples mind.  It won’t.  The unvaxxed people also don’t want to wear masks either but they’ve figured that’s better than vaccination, so they’ll just wear their mask when necessary, but still go about spreading the virus when they don’t have to wear a mask.  But all of us vaccinated people have to continue to wear a mask for what?  Nothing!  It’s illogical.

The states with the highest rate of unvaxxed are just going to ban masks anyway

I mean, with the pandemic still raging and each successive variant becoming exponentially more infective, it actually makes a lot of sense to keep masking indoors, even if you are fully vaccinated.

163 million vaccinated Americans.  Less than 5600 breakthrough cases resulting in hospitalization or death.  We don’t know the total number of breakthrough cases but just based off that info you can see it’s pretty rare.  There’s no reason for vaccinated people to be forced to wear a mask.  If they wanna force something, force the shot.  Forcing a mask isn’t somehow better from a political standpoint.  It’s still a govt forcing something on its people.  It’s not any less damning.

Plus the flip flopping makes them look incompetent and like it or not Biden will get the blame, how is it goingn to look now if Biden and everyone in the White House is again wearing a mask? it is step backwards, it is a bad look.

It is indeed a bad look.  But so are the rising numbers.  He’s in a no win situation.  And we are going to continue suffer.

They are rare, but with each mutation, they will become less rare, and with all the unvaccinated, unmasked morons freely spreading it amongst each other, they are serving as incubators for increasingly virulent variants. That's the thing: They're not just fueling the case levels; they're aiding the overall evolution of the virus. We could ultimately be at a point where the virus effectively escapes the vaccines if we don't clamp down. Then we're all screwed.

It is indeed a winnable situation. Vaccine mandates

No proof of that really so far, just speculation

That's just because of insufficient data. It's pretty logical, so I'm pretty confident this will be borne out by the data in due time.

I haven’t seen anything that says the vaccine isn’t effective vs the variants.  That was the whole point in how this vaccine was such a breakthrough design, wasn’t it?

It really isn’t that hard. Announce tomorrow that Medicare and Medicaid will not cover COVID treatments for people who are eligible to be vaccinated and choose not to. Going back to mask mandates to protect idiots from the consequences of their bad decisions only enables idiots to make worse decisions.

The only thing that matters are hospitalizations and death, the end game is reducing it to a flu for most people, there will always be risks, going to have to learn to deal with another minor risk in life in the long run, no other choice

It is currently. There's no guarantee that that will hold, though, if it keeps reproducing and evolving at current levels. Regardless, it'd be best not to find out.

And there is only 1 way to stop that, not lockdowns or masks, maybe we should elect roger goodell as President or head of the CDC

This needs to happen, but as I've been saying, this isn't just about protecting idiots from themselves, at least not in my mind. It's about limiting the idiots' ability to serve as evolutionary reservoirs for the virus to perhaps mutate to a level that renders the vaccines significantly less effective or ultimately ineffective.

That is good but these idiots will just say no worry I won't need treatment I am healthy and still not get the vaccine

Do what I suggested and watch the percentage of people getting vaxxed skyrocket.

Start a vaccine passport program. Want to go to an SEC football game? Gotta be vaxxed. Airplane? Concert? Chuck E Cheese? Show me your vaccine passport. Vaccination rates will go to 90% in no time if instead of enabling stupidity we start punishing it.

So I found some data that the cdc reported from Jan to April 30th there were 10,000 breakthrough cases and then they stopped tracking the total and only focused on those requiring hospitalization or resulting in death.  Because they know the breakthroughs aren’t serious, it’s a runny nose.
