You would know, mopping up those splatters can't be easy. Quite literally the janitors that work in my hospital know infinitely more about PPE in terms of what to use/when to use it than you do. Thats the funny part

But we can all stop getting sick if we just wear masks and avoid each other for the rest of our lives! Of course, our immune systems will become useless, but shut up and put on a mask and get away from me!

If a cloth or paper mask stops even 25% of those droplets from transferring that can be the difference between a person infecting 3 people and 2. And x^3 is much more than x^2 when talking about virus outbreaks. Again: not rocket science.
August 12, 20214 yr Quote SYDNEY, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Extra Australian military personnel may be called in to ensure compliance with lockdown rules in Sydney, the New South Wales state government said on Thursday, as the highly infectious Delta coronavirus variant spreads into regional areas. The move comes as Australia's capital city, Canberra, 260 km (160 miles) southwest of Sydney, announced a snap one-week lockdown from Thursday evening after reporting its first locally acquired case of COVID-19 in more than a year. Authorities later confirmed an additional three cases, all close contacts of the first case, an unnamed man. Australia is battling to get on top of the fast-moving Delta strain that has plunged its two largest cities - Sydney and Melbourne - into hard lockdowns. "We are making sure that we do not leave any stone unturned in relation to extra (military) resources," New South Wales (NSW) state Premier Gladys Berejiklian said at a media conference in Sydney, the state capital. Some 580 unarmed army personnel are already helping police enforce home-quarantine orders on affected households in the worst-affected suburbs of Sydney, Australia's most populous city. read more Several regional towns scattered across NSW have also been forced into snap lockdowns after fresh cases, raising fears the virus is spreading out of control. Despite seven weeks of lockdown in Sydney, daily infections continue to hover near record highs. NSW on Thursday reported 345 new locally acquired cases, most of them in Sydney, up from 344 a day earlier. Lockdown rules were tightened in three more local council areas in Sydney, limiting the movement of people to within 5 km (3 miles) of their homes. So what do we think about lockdowns? Canberra had a single COVID case registered and then immediately went into an emergency one week lockdown. No leaving the house at all except for critical reasons (getting food, medical). My friends living in Aussi land report people being at their breaking point. Same thing I'm hearing from our Aussi employees in my company. They've been in and out of full lockdown now for almost 18 months. Anecdotal story: I met a Kiwi friend this weekend (she lives here in Sweden) who was in New Zealand a few months back to visit family and had to start her visit with two weeks of total isolation in a special hotel despite a negative test and full vaccination status. She was only allowed outside every other day for one hour. She was monitored all the time. They brought her food (she said it was horrible) and put it thru a slot in the door. She had to be fully masked/covered with only the top half of her face exposed and the person delivering the food was in a full body suit. She was not a happy camper.

The only policy initiative that had any impact was the tax cut, and that resulted in a big increase in deficit spending which has long-term downsides. Presidents get too much credit and blame for normal economic activity.

He greatly reduced regulations, which took the boot off the the neck of industry. The economy was already on a steep upward trajectory when Biden took office, and he's benefitted from it's continued climb, but his policies, have reduced where it could be. The continuation of the enhanced unemployment benefits is idiotic.

The virus is going to remain out there regardless of these measures. Better to stick with testing and quarantining to get the transmission under control. Locking everyone down makes no sense.
