I think Blake is more of the exception and not the norm. I think he has value. I’d probably try dealing him on draft night.

Blake had negative trade value, so buying him out made sense for Detroit.

Ross has trade value for the Magic. No reason to buy him out.

I can’t believe so many pages were spent arguing about a guy best known for playing his team out of playoff games and, generally, being a pain in the ass.

Although, @vikas83 is on the other side of the argument. He’s about the most level headed guy here. So, that gives me pause.

That's where I was. Maxey, Green, Scott and some picks. No Thybulle.

If the Raptors turned that down, so be it. But letting Toronto keep us tied up until the deadline, and not exploring backup options, was dumb. If Lowry wasn't happening, you had to move on to something else better than Hill. Push the Pelicans on Ball maybe. Just feels like Morey went all in on plan A with no plan B.

George Hill was plan B.  Ball didn't go anywhere.  Lowry didn't go anywhere.  Dipo is meh.  Dude had one good season.  There wasn't a ton of terrific options out there.  Oubre isn't good either.  They do need some young controllable contracts on the books, too.  Trading two on rookie deals along with firsts would strap the bench in the future.  I just don't see what move out there besides Lowry was a slam dunk.

I will admit I never expected Anthony Edwards to be this good. When he said his first love was football, I was turned off, but he has proved me wrong and love his personality after games.

Wasn't Lebron's first love football also?

Kind of how i think morey viewed it. I’m guessing he also likely thinks better market this summer or next deadline

I am glad we were forced to go with plan B. As you mentioned, the options out there were not exciting... I was dreading the idea of trading young talent + assets for Lowry.

I was fine giving up something for him and so was Morey.  He put an offer he was comfortable with on the table and the Raptors wanted the moon apparently because nobody offered enough for them.

I don’t love oladipo but the return Houston got for him is laughable so for Miami it’s a good trade on that alone.

Stupid move by the Raptors. You have a 34 year old guard, on a team with tons of cap space... grabbing young talent now and going after the big free agents is the way to go.

Nurse is exceptional at developing talent, the raptors are doing him a disservice by having him trot out an aging once borderline star in favor of youth. They should be getting him moldable pieces to bolster his once dominant bench.

If we are somehow able to win a title this year, it will be almost all organic.  A couple role players from other teams, but our core and most depth will be all home grown.  That would be so satisfying.

Lowry was no slam dunk either. Filled a hole and is a good player, obviously, but we would completely deplete our depth to get him and I don’t think he’d make us favorites over a healthy Nets or Lakers team.

And in getting him, you’re basically shrinking the title window to 1-2 years.

The real mistake was in not converting more of our expiring contracts into assets for more future maneuverability. If the price is too steep for a significant trade, OK, but we should have tried to come away with something for those expiring deals.

Tbh i wish we still had saric. He would be a great bench guy. I’m jealous of the Suns

Like the 2008 Phillies compared to those mercenary rosters the Sox and Yankees rolled out in that era.

Honestly, that's been my dream since the process years. Seeing all these superteams constantly form and break has just solidified my resolve. I dont want a team stacked full of mercenaries. Teams like the Sixers, Bucks, and Jazz can still contend. I realize, the way you win big today is with a superteam. For every 3 teams growing the 'organic' way, there is one team (a better team) that is contrived.

But boy would it be sweet to do it with largely homegrown talent. A big middle finger to the status quo winning formula, and perhaps the most philadelphian way possible of going about it.

heat would be a good fit. He could do better though

Rather have green, thybulle and hill versus Lowry.

Need to trust morey. Just about every move he's made so far has worked out great.

The rockets better hit on those picks or at least one of them

Anyone watched much of Hill and have any first hand opinions on his game?

Isn't this kinda weird? Why was he included?

He hasn't played in two months because of a thumb injury.  I have not watched much of him the last few years though.

George Hill is an upgrade to this team. He will know where to be at all times and can be a ball handler when Simmons is in the bench. He might even be on the floor at the end of some games.

Product of Pop, 6'4" with of 6'9" wingspan, good defender, has plenty of playoff experience, career 38% from 3, he had a really good year with Bucks in 18/19.

Will be a solid back up guard that can play off ball as well shown playing with Giannis.
