You'd hope the last line and woj tweet are just three to maintain leverage in trade negotiations.

Great to hear its being discussed.

Go work with Drew Hanlen, Embiid's guy

Remember when he was out year 1 and all he had to do was sit in his chair and practice his form and release?  Good times!

If he had done that, and start implementing that slowly over the last few years in games, he would probably be a top 10 player by now.

The Philadelphia 76ers had no intention of trading Mikal Bridges when they drafted him at No. 10 overall at the 2018 NBA draft, multiple sources tell The Athletic.

The 76ers entered the draft, run by Brett Brown shortly after Bryan Colangelo resigned in the wake of a social media scandal, with Bridges and Zhaire Smith next to each other on their board. Bridges was the favorite of the coaching staff while the team's scouts preferred Smith. The organization settled on Bridges as the better option of the two.

When Bridges received a call from a member of the Philadelphia front office that he was their pick at No. 10, there was no indication he would play anywhere but the same city had played in high school and college.

The Phoenix Suns, however, hoped to make a deal for Bridges. The Suns tried to trade up with the Cleveland Cavaliers at No. 8 and the New York Knicks at No. 9, but both teams said no. The 76ers did as well but their denial was softer. Phoenix was trying to trade up for either Bridges or Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The 76ers were interested in acquiring an unprotected first round pick from the Miami Heat that the Suns owned, which Phoenix eventually included in their offer about a minute before the pick at No. 16 was due.

The trade was a rare one in which a draft night deal was made on the fly.

"It doesn’t,” one league source said. "Usually it’s pre-arranged; 95 percent of the time it’s pre-arranged.”

While Smith didn't work out for the 76ers, the Miami pick eventually allowed them to acquire Tobias Harris.

"When Mikal got that hat and walked across the stage I think he thought, and the 76ers thought, that he was going to be a Philadelphia 76er,” Ryan McDonough said. "That was the plan at the time. But the plan changed.”

last news i could find about zhaire smith was him not joining the memphis g-league team.

Terry Stotts is out as coach. There are rumblings that Damian Lillard is getting antsy. The calls for Neil Olshey to make a franchise-changing move are louder than ever. And the franchise’s commitment to CJ McCollum is once again being questioned.

Lillard’s 31st birthday approaches in July, and after another season in which Lillard went above and beyond to elevate the Blazers, only to be let down in the playoffs by lack of adjustments and lack of a supporting cast, there is a palpable sense of urgency coming from Lillard’s camp. Lillard wants to win big, and he wants to do it now, and following the Blazers’ first-round exit at the hands of a shorthanded Denver roster, it wasn’t hard to see Lillard’s frustration.

Olshey has acknowledged that over the years, any move of note — a trade or free-agent signing — has been first run by Lillard to receive his endorsement. If Lillard thinks Simmons could work, then that’s the type of move that gives the Blazers a chance to make an instant jump because it addresses their biggest weakness: defense. I’ve also heard Boston could be interested in a player like McCollum, and I’ve always thought Marcus Smart and his defense would be a great pairing in Portland (obviously it would take more to make salaries match, but Smart would be a great start).

Philly sports teams love to do this, we got a bum at LT out of it.

While Smith didn't work out for the 76ers

His mental health is gone.

Yeah.  They are trying to convince the fans it’ll be different this time.

Keon Johnson of Tennessee broke Kenny Gregory's 20-year NBA Combine record with a 48-inch vertical leap. Johnson also had a 41.5 inch standing vertical leap.

Two guys i think will be in the area we are picking that I’d love to snag are Johnny juzang. I love his game at the next level. Think he has a chance to be a maxey like steal that late in the draft. Kid plays bigger than what he’s gonna test at. The other is josh Christopher. Bobby Hurley really didn’t help his draft stock.  But he has a lot of donovan Mitchell in his game. I don’t know or think he becomes that good but he has a skill set like him.

He is a 2nd right now and heard Christopher is a headache

Now we will see how he does in the shooting drills because 27% from 3

Where the sixers are picking at 28 i feel like it’s not a reach with juzang. They took Shamet near that area and i think it shocked people. I feel prospects 25-45 range are all jumbled but usually fall within that range and if you take them in there it’s fine. If we were in the 15-20 range i wouldn’t do it.

Heard similar however also have heard ASU coaches really didn’t think Hurley wanted to be at asu anymore and there was a bunch of dysfunction within that coaching staff. Talent is definitely there.

Trey Murphy, Tre Mann, Ayo Dosunmu, are better if there.

Top 20 to 25 are good quality players then a drop off. No idea with Euro stashes which Sixers need for guys to drop

I’m assuming the sixers use pick 50 as a euro stash tbh.

i like dosunmu but was super disappointing with his tournament showing. I thought Loyola Chicago really exposed him and he should’ve been able to take advantage of that team better than he did. I still think because of the kids personality that someone in the top 25 will fall in love with the kid and take him.

mann definitely fits a need. He is a good shot creator and solid shooter but isn’t as athletic as you’d like. Not sure what he becomes at the nba level as a defender. I think he needs to bulk up more and use his frame better. I think he’s definitely going in the 20ish range so a chance he’s there.

Trey Murphy form UVA right? He has really good size for a wing guy. I think he’s definitely sound defensively cause most Virginia players are coming out. I’m surprised he stayed in the draft cause as a junior he is projected low first early second. I tend to think he plays better as a senior on a better Virginia team that his stock could’ve risen. Especially being a wing. I think he’s likely in the 20-35 range. Tbh he reminds me of a poor man’s mikal bridges. I don’t think he’s the defender bridges was but he is a good 3 pt shooter

Looking at the mocks the NBA doesn't adjust the draft order based on playoff finish? Still picking 28th? Seems dumb.

Honestly you’d only move up to 26th from 28th if they did. I’m guessing they likely get the guy they want in that area.

Just read an article saying that the sixers are making Ben a scapegoat... Gtfoh

Lol he is the biggest issue with the 76ers. Cant be a scapegoat when that’s really the most alarming thing with the team.  He deserves the ridicule after not working or even attempting to get better in the area he’s known he’s had too since college.

However I do think some national media is overlooking the fact that doc Rivers is not that good of a coach and the three Hall of Famer‘s saved him in Boston. Tobias Harris imo is not good enough to be a major player on a championship team and has Covington type moments in games where he misses layups. And our bench was just as inconsistent at the trade deadline as it was in the playoffs.

Ben will only get worse if they want to say he is being scapegoated. He was once the next LeBron and now he is absolutely crap

Don’t disagree. Frankly I think the Sixers are going to wind up wasting Joel Embiid‘s career and eventually trade him to a team so he can try to win a championship. I think they’ve made so many mistakes during this whole thing that it’s the thing that’ll keep them from it. I would argue the process in theory and if you drafted better and didn’t throw money away is a smart plan of action for a team and organization like the 76ers. However the execution and ownership of the Sixers completely screwed up something that could’ve been a masterpiece
