they should've traded embiid for some bench guys from the cleveland cavaliers and gone with pelle & petrusev at center.

Saw that too. Saw he also represented himself in the negotiations.

He did good. Must have been dealing with Brand.

I have never seen a big man fall down as often as he does. That's my main injury concern for him.

He does that on purpose to prevent knee injuries.

Cleveland has also explored the trade market. Kyle Anderson, Terrence Ross, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic, Cam Reddish, T.J. Warren, Thaddeus Young, Tobias Harris, Jeremy Lamb and Harrison Barnes are all said to be available.

Doesn't seem to be working out for him or Anthony Davis those to big dopes are both hurt and laying on the ground " trying to prevent injuries"

Get someone good enough to make Joel a #2 option.

So trade Ben for assets and keep what few we have.  Don't trade a bunch for 1 guy.  Trade 1 guy for a bunch.

Lillard doubles down on short sighted stupidity. Makes it worse now if you just committed an extra 4 years with Joel. So why hurry up and sirens a ton for an over 30 player who won't age well?

Theres no more we have about 2 years.  It's like... we are paying him for another 6 so we have a little time to get the right pieces around him.

And if they don't think they have that much time then they shouldn't have committed to that contract.

Lillard and Embiid will last together maybe 2 seasons. I think they put themselves in an even worse situation if the next step is getting Lillard.

I wouldnt be surprised if it worked in the opposite way and lead to more knee injuries. If someone focused on proper jumping and landing mechanics with him it might be way more beneficial. There is a thing called a JUMP program designed to promote proper form, and strengthen the important muscles that help you do so.

Otherwise, we have a center who is actually trying not to have a good landing so he can purposely fall. And you see him having awkward landings. I remember one time it looked like he damn near dislocated his elbow. On his bone bruise, AND meniscus injury he landed with a completely straight knee on those separate occasions.

Probably the way he is randomly altering position on his way down to purposely fall is leading to more injuries.

I totally agree. I think its a horrible move if it involves giving up Maxey and multiple 1st round picks, and swaps.

Nah, wear and tear on his knees, ankles and feet are the biggest concern.  Not him falling on his arse.....

I believe that has been reported.

It was reported that you read the the entire contract?

yeah Woj said I read the whole contract. If anyone else said it I wouldnt believe it, but Woj is legit.

Embiid would tell them to F themselves after runner up in MVP voting if they tried to put an injury provision in it and the players union would make sure the Sixers suffer for the next decade.

They have one in his current contract though. Players union didnt do anything to the team.

But the players union can make sure players know that a guy that played thru a knee tear and MVP runner up has to sign an injury provision. Good luck getting players

meh... its Joel Embiid. Who wouldnt understand why a team would want that in his contract?

when he signed his other extension it was in October 2017. up to that point he played 31 games in the NBA and has another injury. It is much different after he’s played multiple seasons and became a runner up for MVP of the league.

The circumstances in 2017 arent the circumstances in 2021. That’s another reason the players union couldn’t make the sixers suffer. Cause embiid was fortunate the sixers were willing to give him that massive extension as he only played 31 games

Its funny how an MVP award, that he didnt win, keeps bring brought up as an argument for why he isnt an injury risk anymore. An award that he didnt win has nothing to do with his injury risk. Makes no sense.

Theres no one in the world that wouldnt understand why Embiid would have an injury provision in his contract.

Well Sixers didn't give him one so keep crying. Your takes this off season are just bad.

I didnt give a take on that. I just said that reportedly theres not an injury clause in his contract this time.

You took that in the direction you chose. You came up with the take about the award he didnt win would somehow cause the NBAPA to make the 6ers pay for the next 10 years. Even though he already had one and they did nothing. You came up with that take. And, its a bad one.

You asked for the reason why the Sixers couldn’t do it in 2021 but did in  2017. he had played 31 NBA games. The union could not do anything because based off 31 games he likely didn’t even deserve that type of contract especially when he got hurt and missed more then half of the season when did finally play. So the union didn’t really have a leg to stand on with the sixers in his contract to force the issue.

Actually, I didnt ask.

[Fischer] Ben Simmons expected to remain a 76er barring a change of temperature with Damian Lillard in Portland.

renderTimingPixel.png

Each of Minnesota, Golden State, Sacramento and San Antonio has been consistently linked as a top Simmons destination, yet the overwhelming sense among league insiders continues to be that Simmons, for now, is expected to remain a Sixer once training camp opens on September 28—barring a change of temperature with Damian Lillard in Portland.

That appears to be the ever-important undercurrent to what has been routinely described as a "James Harden-like" package Philadelphia is seeking for any Simmons return.

For the Sixers and president Daryl Morey to move Simmons, it will be with an eye toward maximizing Joel Embiid's prime. Therefore trading Simmons now for anything short of a haul that could immediately be flipped for Lillard, in the event he does request a trade, would be a devastating blow for Philadelphia's front office, and their efforts to pair Embiid with a bonafide superstar.

But that Lillard request may not be coming anytime soon.

There's certainly a possibility Lillard arrives at training camp, looks around Portland's locker room and determines the Trail Blazers roster has not been upgraded to his satisfaction. Yet there's a stronger belief in league circles that Lillard will at least venture into the regular season under new head coach Chauncey Billups, allowing him to revisit moving elsewhere before the trade deadline.

Dating back to Morey's tenure running Houston, he has traditionally begun trade talks with offers that his counterparts deem outlandish as a means to set an extreme parameter for the ongoing negotiation. This year, several rival executives told Bleacher Report they believe part of Philadelphia's calculus behind those unrealistic offers has also been to assure Simmons' camp that the Sixers are at least attempting to move him.

Toronto, though, was never going to entertain a framework of acquiring Simmons for OG Anunoby, Fred VanVleet and the No. 4 pick, which Philadelphia pitched the weekend before July's NBA draft.

San Antonio was open to discussing Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker IV before the draft, sources said, and the Spurs added more enticing future draft capital in their sign-and-trade that delivered DeMar DeRozan to Chicago. Could the starting points of that package be enough to truly intrigue Philly? Portland's eventual interest, as always, would factor heavily into any further discussions, too.

Despite the awkward dynamic that could follow, Simmons may have no real choice but to join the Sixers in September and play his way to a new destination, regardless of the icy communication that has persisted all summer, dating back to Rivers' and Embiid's post-Game 7 press conferences.

Whether Simmons is amenable to that of course remains to be seen, but Philadelphia appears prepared for that outcome. Said one veteran front office voice, "Daryl is not afraid to go into training camp with a potentially combustible situation."

I just explain to you why in 2017 the players union didn’t say anything. So I’m sorry you didn’t ask. I’m informing you of why the players union when he got that extension in 2017 didn’t say anything. Pretty obvious why they didn’t then. He played 31 games in 3 years and got a 5 year 148 mil contract.

Is that the explanation McCollum gave you?
