Niang's shooting is a really, really nice addition for this team.

I know its pre-season and this wont be a common thing. But Toronto cant say the same tonight. We have 8 players in double figures.

Also, Maxey has 5 assists so far, in 25 minutes.

They always seem to overcompensate or something. They try hard or idk.

re: starting Shake Milton- This may be a question Doc is asking himself.

Maxey

Joe

Kork

Niang

Drummond

is a hell of a bench unit. Is it worth it to give up a little with Shake starting (maybe make a trade to get a real PG), in order to have Maxey efficiently run  and bring fire power to that bench unit? Theyve scored 55 points so far tonight.

She has a horrible voice. Thats all there is to it. If it was a man with the same voice, it would be just as annoying. Its horrible to listen to.

They usually do and over enunciate is the words I was looking for.

Thinking about that trade and possible rotations:

Brogdon

Thybulle

LeVert

Harris

Embiid

Maxey

Curry

Green

Niang

Drummond

That team is deep as hell.....

I put Maxey on the 2nd unit because I see him slashing and either going to the rim for layups or kicking it out to Curry, Green or Niang.

Love that we have a PG who drives to the rim and a C who can make it an easy lob for him.

Simmons was a horrible lob passer, and didnt know how to even create those opportunities. And I dont like to see Embiid try those anyway. Maxey working that with Drummond is nice.

Maxey had a step back three in the early 2nd and I couldn't help but think about how I waited to see Ben do that for years.  Over 300 games Ben played in the sixers uniform and I can't recall him doing that move.

anyway  did we get a look at the rack yet? how are those cans?

Well done

Recorded the game last night and just finished watching the first half. I know, I know

I'm getting excited to see what this team will look like with a traditional point guard, assuming they get one in the eventual Simmons deal.

Drummond is going to be a significant upgrade for our bench.  Having a back up center that cant be involved in the offense playing out of the post on a team used to playing with Embiid is going to valuable and hopefully may be the solution to the terrible difference in  on/offs for Embiid they've had since he came into the league, especially if they get a guard back for Simmons that will allow Maxey to play off the bench with Drummond.  I'm really hoping this may be the year our bench stops killing us with 5 minute scoring droughts while opposing benches eat into our lead.

Kate Scott was better than she's getting credit for in here.  After listening to Zum for so long, anybody new was going to be somewhat jarring but considering it was her first game calling this team, I thought she was good.  She was smooth, showed the appropriate level of excitement at the right times, and seemed to have decent chemistry with Alaa.  I was pretty impressed for her first game.

After last night Id do the Brogdon deal right away.

Brogdon/Maxey/Shake

Curry/Joe/Kork

Green/Thybulle/Kork

Harris/Niang

Embiid/Drummond

The starter lacks a true PG, but Brogdon does play that position. All of them can create their own shot which is more important. And you dont have a PG who is going to constantly stop the ball which is even more important.

The bench unit is actually awesome, top to bottom.

agree with all...and i'll add that i thought niang looked really good. just a huge upgrade over mike scott. ...huge.

and i'm kind of tired of shake...wouldn't mind if he's moved in a simmons deal. he just doesn't have it.

in conclusion...

If Shake is anywhere near the starting lineup then the Sixers are in trouble.

You also are not going to call in five guys from the bench at a time. Stagger Embiid with Maxey and  Harris with Curry then bench pieces around them. Unless Joel wants to play with Curry more minutes then you let Joel play minutes with who he wants.

Im not sure. When the team is fully healthy, we have seen Brown, and Rivers bring in 5 at a time. And that unit is good. So, you could.

Im not saying Shake starting is going to happen. But I think it was a purposeful experiment last night to evaluate that scenario. To see how much it really affects the starting lineup, and how much can having Maxey run that second unit actually makes up for it.

And if it does happen, its certainly only going to be for a short time. You know the goal of a simmons trade is going to be getting a PG in there to replace Shake.

having a midge like seth at sg makes it difficult to start a smaller pg like maxey.  that could be why shake got the starting nod.

Agreed.  I really like the idea of Brogdon at the point for this line up.  He really would be a really solid fit.  He was my first choice after they let Jimmy walk but they signed Horford.  Indy got him on a decent contract as a restricted free agent. He would have been a major improvement on this team even then and would have helped offset Ben's weaknesses.  If they get Brogdon and LeVert for Simmons, I'll be really happy with the deal.  If they manage to get picks on top of it, even better.

Honestly, I like Maxey starting at the point. I know it isn’t ideal to have Seth starting next to him but I believe Maxey is going to be too damn good to not start.

If anything I’d be looking for an upgrade over Curry to push him to the bench and keep Maxey at PG.

The most logical solution is move Maxey to off ball and get a guy like Brogdon

Invariably, decisions made in haste come back to haunt you.  I have no problem with the team sweating this one out until January until the right deal presents itself.   Who knows - maybe Lilliard becomes available.

[Charania] Sources tell me that Simmons has emptied his home in Philadelphia and has had his belongings all packed and moved out, and the place will soon go up for sale. The 76ers I'm told asked the Trailblazers for three first round picks and three draft swaps, but Portland rejected that proposal.

The Trail Blazers and Pacers have lead dоgs in CJ McCollum and Malcolm Brogdоn who could entice the 76ers in a pоtential package. But neither has gained traction for Philadelphia. The 76ers, I’m told, asked the Trail Blazers for three first-round picks and three Draft swaps as part of a potential package. But Portland rejected that propоsal.

If you get Brogdon,  and start Maxey,  you have Seth and Shake running the bench unit.  Which isn't really viable.

Agreed plus I think it's better for Maxey long term to play off the bench now where the offense can run through him while he develops his game.  Once he shows improvement in the consistency of his outside shooting and gets more comfortable as a distributer, you can look make changes on the roster to get him in the starting line up.

I think he can develop playing with the starters but I think his development would be accelerated if he was mostly playing when he doesn't have to defer to Embiid, Tobias, and theoretically Brogdon if that deal gets made.

Why isn't that viable? If Shake can run the first unit then he can run the bench. Seth and Shake are competent enough to run an offense with whatever starters for 20 minutes a game.

That would mean once again the Sixers are trying to out a square peg into a round hole because Maxey just isn't a lead guard. He has Sexton/Lou Williams type potential

He wasn't even the lead guard at Kentucky and the video is how he should be used. Slasher, spot up shooter, drive and score or kick.
