A bit like the Jazz to be honest. Team still needs a guy that can create his own shot off the bounce to go further in the playoffs.

Agree. If they had that guy, I think they'd be near unstoppable actually assuming Embiid stays healthy enough to play in the playoffs.

[Charania] The Boston Celtics have engaged in conversations with the 76ers revolving around Simmons and expressed interest in the 6-ft-11 guard, sources tell The Athletic. Talks have been fluid with no traction as of yet. Any potential Simmons deal would have to include All-Star forward Jaylen Brown

In the meantime, the 76ers have not had any deal form for Simmons. Morey has continued to set a high price threshold for any deal involving the runner-up for the 2021 NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Philadelphia is once again the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference so far this season, beginning the campaign 8-2 with quality wins while playing through absences and the Simmons situation.

The Boston Celtics have engaged in conversations with the 76ers revolving around Simmons and expressed interest in the 6-foot-11 guard, sources tell The Athletic. Talks have been fluid with no traction as of yet, those sources say. Any potential Simmons deal with the Celtics would have to include All-Star forward Jaylen Brown, an ascending talent who is in the midst of another career season, averaging 25.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

The Celtics are off to a 4-6 start, winning two recent games against Miami and Orlando before losing to Dallas Saturday night. President of basketball operations Brad Stevens admitted to NBC Sports Boston that the organization is "going to find out” if it has the right group of players.

That would be major.  Jaylen Brown would put Danny on the bench, right?  And we go:

PG: Maxey

SG: Seth

SF: Brown

PF: Tobi

C   Embiid

Then Danny could be the high IQ "glue guy" out there on the 2nd unit.

With that line up I fear no team in the East.  Not that we'd be a Finals lock but I would be confident that we can compete with anyone.   And furthermore, the Cs/Sixers rivalry would reach 1980s level animosity, which would also be fun.

i'm thinking philly would have to give up a lot more than just simmons to get brown.

And Absolutely worth it. He has a hammy issue right now which could last all year.

I bet they make Sixers take on Smart and his deal.

Ship him up to Boston!!!

Brown is the better player imo but salary wise how much more could we possibly give up on top of Ben's huge number?  I assume we'd need to add picks to sweeten the deal but throwing in Kork, for example, seems like too much salary.

Throwing in Kork, Celtics only need to cut 1.2 million in salary so definitely possible.

Says Smart can't be traded this year because he signed an extension as well

as crazy as this may sound, i'll take back an injuried player for ben, if brown plays well great if not, no big deal, flip him for picks and trade them for a star or maybe a former sixer that we shoudnt have traded away.

Brown plays well?  And he is shooting 39.7% from 3 on 7 attempts.

He makes the Sixers into a legit legit title contender.

I’d make the trade for brown in a heartbeat. He’s is as close to a great fit as you are going to get. They need a scoring wing who can also defend. Doubt the Celtics would do this trade but Morey should be trying to get brown

alright - we're gonna need someone to drive Benamin up to Beantown - everyone else, start building the Morey statue.

A couple weeks but realistically no way Brad Stevens gives up Brown unless for a Beal type.

i'd think tisse or maxey would have to be included along with simmons in a trade for brown. brown is just the better player...by far.

That's cool.  Any time I look at Boston I assume it's going to have to revolve around Smart.

The offense has been more exciting so far this year when he hasn't played.

HE = The KOD

I'm on the celtics boards.  Tweet after tweet about this rumors being false.  They didn't trade Brown for Harden but they are going to trade him for "all word" Simmons?
