Nothing to with playing us. The blueprint to beat them was laid out in last years playoffs. Its like they dont study film

Playoffs are different animal because you have 7 games to play with matchups where regular season you just play your best players

Kork sucks.

Harris needs to be doing more in these games. Rise to the moment.

Harris has never risen. Ben gets heat but he missed 3 layups in Game 7

Team is in free fall. When is Embiid and Thybulle expected back? Seems like they’ve been out quite some time.

[Eskin] I’m told Ben Simmons continues to workout/practice at St Joseph’s University. At times w Hawks team. So tell me why he can’t practice and play w #Sixers? Would love explanation from Benamin and his agent @RichPaul4 . I assume playing with college players cures his mental illness.

I mean it is a bunch of reserves or young guys without the superstar. They probably caught a few teams off guard in the beginning but not now.

I’m doubtful but I’m getting desperate.

Doesn't make sense for the Hawks with Capela

Not sure anyone touches GS this year. Let things play out.

Yea. I’m just looking at teams with bad records right now that might be willing to deal. Don’t even think the hawks would want Simmons without cappella there.

basically have to look at teams with a stretch 5.

Curry is shooting .125

Said it watching the pacers loss in person. He is injured. Something is definitely off and he limped around quite a bit

He had a foot injury.  And I think was questionable for 1 game.  I don't remember if he missed a game or not.  But yes there was a reported injury he is probably still hurting from.

seth can't create so he needs to be set up for good looks. that's a lot more difficult w/o embiid on the court drawing the defense's attention.

Something like this works. Of course need to dig deeper into the players to make it work but the framework works.

Seth is probably the best off the dribble shooter on the team.

It's probably harder for him to move without the ball. Ask that running to get open is tough on a hurt foot.

They should probably let him try to create more. He's good at it.

This looks completely fake to me. No way that's Ben. Details are too precise and the language doesn't fit.

It's most likely a joke.

This team blows.

Is a trade coming anytime soon?

In a word, no. It does not appear any deal will happen soon. As it stands, Simmons isn’t going anywhere until Morey is able to swap him for a truly elite player. And yes, in case you wondered, the Sixers have an actual list of such names internally.

As you may have heard by now, Portland’s Damian Lillard is not only on said list but somewhere near the top. Ditto for Brooklyn’s James Harden, the former Rocket with whom Morey tried unsuccessfully to reunite with in January and who, by the way, could come to Philly via sign-and-trade this summer if he decides to shock the basketball world and leave Kevin Durant behind. Also high on the list: Washington’s Bradley Beal. Those kinds of guys.

But here’s the part that may come as a surprise: A source with knowledge of the list said there are approximately 30 players who would satisfy the Sixers in a Simmons swap, and there’s an internal belief that a fair amount of them — let’s say five to 10 — could become available in the next year or two. And while it might sound like a long list, consider this much: It’s approximately six percent of the league and the rough equivalent to the number of All-Stars selected every season. The framing of the timeline, more than anything else, speaks volumes about the long-term approach the Sixers insist they’re taking.

"This is like a multi-year thing,” a Sixers source said.

The conditions currently driving the Sixers’ roster decisions aren’t about to change. And the stance, in short, is that their title-contending fortunes will only improve if Simmons returns or a trade emerges in which he lands them an elite player.

Beyond Embiid, the Sixers’ combination of All-Star caliber players (Tobias Harris) and high-level role players (Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey, Georges Niang, Matisse Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz, Danny Green et al.) means there’s no need to take on more players of that ilk. As such, the intense focus remains on the prospect of Simmons wearing a Sixers jersey again.

Embiid can't be happy about this if rumors are true and if they are targeting 30 guys then go Fing trade for one.

This isn't the MLB where have to scout minor league systems we know who works with Embiid and who doesn't.

[Rich] Paul’s interview, and this quote in particular, made you wonder if a Simmons return might be nearing.

"This is no longer about a trade,” Paul said. "This is about finding a place where we can help Ben get back to his mental strength and get back on the floor. I want him on the floor playing the game that he loves. I want Ben on the floor, whether that’s in a 76ers uniform or any other uniform. That’s not up to me, but I want him in a state where he can resume play. We want to cooperate and want to work him back on the floor.”

Yet when I checked in to update the state of affairs five days later, the message a source with knowledge of Simmons’ status shared was significantly less hopeful. As it stands, I don’t see a return happening anytime soon — if ever. What’s more, a source with knowledge of the talks between the Sixers and Simmons’ representatives indicated he’s reiterated his strong desire to be traded in recent days.

In the absence of a Simmons return, sources say, the Sixers’ belief is rival teams have grown even less motivated than before about making a move for Simmons because of the escalating uncertainty that surrounds him. If his mental health struggles aren’t solely the product of his Sixers experience, in other words, then who’s to say it will be any different somewhere else? From this standpoint, it’s not hard to find rival executives who confirm these suspicions.

I think they’re just putting pressure on Simmons letting him know they’re not blinking.

Fire Morey

Embiid seems to be supporting the FO in this and if that is the case (and they read it right that his support includes waiting until year 2) I think they are making the right move here. Brogdon or players of his caliber ain’t gonna win you a chip as a 2nd option.

Gonna cost the team a whole bunch of wins over the course of 2 years. And Embiid, 2 years older.

Whats even more concerning is that the article still mentions a guy like Harden, who is also getting older, and will be 2 years older by then...

I dont think its wise to rely on a couple dinosaurs to win it for us.

I said when they gave Embiid the max, they have him locked up for the next 6 years now. Knowing that, the plan can no longer be to win now at all costs while Embiid is still here/healthy. The team is paying him for 6 years which shows they believe he can still be this effective for that period of time. As such, it makes sense to target a guy like a Reddish, Anunoby, etc.... who have all star potential. By next year Maxey is probably a borderline all star, and Reddish or OG can be on that same level as well. Now you have Embiid flanked by 2 of those guys, and Harris who can actually become like a 4th option at that point.

The other thing is, 2 years from now, Curry is likely gone or declining. Green god willing is long gone. And... we still have no cap to replace them. So you go for that super star in this trade giving up Ben + whatever depth is left.... and theres really no ammo to replenish it.

We havent had a team as deep as this years in a long time. Id prefer to see them load up on as many secondary scorers as they can on that Brogdon level. It might be enough. But if not, its not hamstringing us far in to the future. And its also not wasting the next 1-2 seasons like the current stated plan would. I dont know how fans can accept this plan.
