Why couldnt Simmons and Embiid get along? Simmons is mainly the reason. But how much of this could be Embiid demanding to be the guy?

He should be frustrated.  I think I mentioned this in the thread after I went to the Bulls game but from the arena I could see several instances where Joe was being doubled off of Curry and not giving the ball up to Curry for a wide open three.  I assume it was happening before then it's just less noticeable on TV.  It should be automatic for him to make that pass and punish the defense.  He has to make it to allow him self to play against fewer double teams.

As far as Maxey, it's tough to do, especially for a young guard whose game isn't fully developed yet.  That's why I preferred he develop his game on the bench where he is the clear primary option before moving into the starting line up and having to try to develop his game while balancing that with integrating himself with the other more veteran starters.

It's ultimately a coaching issue but is Doc the kind of coach to tell Embiid he needs to have possessions where he lets the kid take the lead?   The team and Embiid both need this.  Part of his conditioning problems is that he had been the primary and sometimes only offensive option for this team for so long and it's too much to ask of any big like him.

The other side of that is that his conditioning, or lack of, makes it more difficult for Maxey.  Late in the double overtime game, they ran high pick and roll and Jo is popping out for a 3 instead of going to the hoop when it's open, probably because he was tired.  Now it was his first game back after COVID and a double OT game but still, Jo isn't exactly a rim runner at the 5.

my guess as to why embiid doesn't play more in the post is because he sucks against double teams. hell, he somehow winds up on the floor half the time when he's doubled. there was one in last night's game where he wound up shuffling the ball out top while on his damn knees. 

 he's a turnover machine against the double team & even when he does kick the ball out, it's rarely a crisp pass.

Part of that is he waits to long to kick it out.  The pass should be made as the double is coming.  He often likes to test himself against the double before forcing the pass if the double holds up.  By then, the defense has adjusted.  He has to kick that ball out as soon as the defender comes off the perimeter player and commits to the double, especially with Curry since he is actually a great shooter, a rare exception in Sixers history.
