May 15, 20241 yr American Fiction starring Jeffrey Wright, watched on Prime. It's pretty good. Has Wright done any roles where he's not the same stoic type? I like him, would like to see some range.

May 24, 20241 yr I think Fury Road is a top 5 movie of this century, Furiosa was a huge disappointment. The visuals are there, but like with all origin stories, the urgency is gone. The straightforward storytelling that's at the core of Fury Road and 300 is replaced with rote play by play for a backstory that proves unnecessary.

Actually, I would say part 2 was better than part 1. Part 1 was an intro, and not really coherent/structured because of this. While Dune 2 technically picks up after part 1, I would say it was much better from a story telling perspective. The cinematography was incredible, great action scenes, and Austin Butler stole the show as the big bad. Im really looking forward to part 3 and what Villeneuve can do with what is going to be a VERY challenging script.
May 29, 20241 yr If you have kids save your money and wait for Garfield to hit a streaming service. If you don't have kids then never having to watch this movie would be a good reason to never have them.

I might just put it on repeat for the next month.

June 5, 20241 yr They should have retired Martin Lawrence and given Will a new partner in the last one. Martin is washed up and his shtick isn't funny.

June 14, 20241 yr Rewatching one of my favorite 80’s movies, Sixteen Candles. I’d love for someone to even attempt this plot today. -High school jock is unhappy with his smoke high school gf because she likes to party. -Proceeds to throw a rager where she blacks out. -Hands her off to a horny nerd and gives nerd his father’s expensive car to do with her what you will. -Nerd brings her to nerd friends house to show her off blacked out in the back seat. -Nerd also blacks out and nerd bangs her out in church parking lot. -High school smoke wakes up, has no clue where she is, falls in love with nerd, and nobody goes to jail. Hallmark couldn’t have written it any better.
