Hurts needs to pray that Wentz is a complete bust in Indy

Don't forget about the dynamic duo

If Wentz is anywhere close to re-establishing his MVP form the caped crusaders will be the joke of the city. I still feel that Reich had the biggest positive influence on Wentz. Now it will come full circle during this '21 season.

I mean there's a chance Wentz turns it around but actually bottom line I'm not sure he's that great a QB. I think he's a good QB but that's it.

We differ in opinion which is fine. I wouldn't label him as an AR or Montana, but I still think he's pretty dang good.

Oh absolutely without doubt, healthy disagreement is fine. I think he's got the potential to be good, I wouldn't go as far to say he's dang good.

No problem. I do agree that he needs to learn how to protect himself AND learn to throw the ball away; live for another down instead of trying to play The American Hero lol.

But those have been issues throughout his career so far. He always looks for the big play. Now sometimes that works out but when things aren't right in front of him that's going to cause issues.

That line between good and great really isn’t that huge a difference… I mean go watch Mahomes or Wilson play and some of the hero’s ball throws they make… Those plays could easily be negative as well Wentz is all that different… Reason he was seen as an MVP favorite in 2017 before he went down he can make all those same special throws that only a handful of guys can.

I’m not sure what to make with Wentz though I do think he rebounds in Indy and plays good football will he be great will depend how we want to define it. I’ll go out on a limb and predict Indy in the AFC championship game though led by Wentz

Those plays could easily be negative plays but they aren't. Like Wentz plays could easily be positive plays more often that not they aren't. I could be a professional soccer player but I'm not. My uncle could be my auntie but he's not.

He lost the team. Don’t think you can come back from that

Maybe half the time he’s been good. But he’s been missing the leadership part of the job.

How are you so sure?

That's very true... This is the 21st century.

This 17 game schedule just feels odd to me not sure how to judge a player… Records are likely to be broken but just seems cheap since they need an extra game…

But then again guess it isn’t much different from when they NFL went to 16 games..

I’m sure NFL wants to make as much money as possible and they are not doing that with preseason games…

Correct. Sad part is that those price gouging SOB's actually looking for more on top of current.

This is a good video because it shows pretty clearly what I hope we do a lot of on defense this year.

Breaking Down Patrick Graham Creating Pressure on 3rd Down - YouTube

They have a six man front, with three down linemen, two linebackers and a safety. They can play either man or zone on the back end, depending on how many they rush. They end up bringing four guys and dropping into a two deep zone, which leads to a sack. Keep in mind the Giants had Kyler Fackrell, Carter Coughlin,  Peppers, Martinez, BJ Hill and Leonard Williamson on the field for this play, so from a talent standpoint, we are as good as that if not better.

How might we run the same look?

Let's say the three known rushers are Cox, Hargrave and Graham, and one of the two linebackers is Kerrigan. We know Wilson or Singleton will be the other linebacker (most likely Wilson.) The key is having a sixth player who can rush effectively or drop into coverage. I think Singleton, K'Von Wallace, Davion Taylor and JaCoby Stevens could all compete for this spot.

I like that video because it is an example of scheme overcoming a lack of talent. The Giants defense didn't have much talent last year. But if you look at this play, they didn't need a lot of talent. They rushed four guys - one of which was one on one with a RB, and another of which was unblocked. How many times did we do something like that? The answer is not nearly enough.

It’s a four WR look this is relying on. The fifth guy might as well rush. Him faking a rush and dropping really did zero coverage wise.

Why is it going out on a limb.  They were 7th in the conference with an immobile QB who had a weak arm.  They were limited in the playbook because of that.   I would say chalk is KC vs Buffalo.   Tennessee and Indy could easily end up right there though.

I’m not that concerned with our defense not this season at least we have pieces to make it work. Bigger thing on D for me is the young guys stepping up making some plays Milton/Sweat/Barnett these 3 will be huge on the DL…. Marlon/Jackson if they can show enough to be contributing be even better.

Avery/Johnson- think Kerrigan will be the top rush LB for us but we need a young guys to take over can one of these guys be that for us???

CB- we have talked about it plenty and personally I’d rather go with the young guys we have over signing a vet like Nelson. Figure out what we have in Mcphearson, Jaquet, James etc. either they are the guys or get rid of the and aim to fix in next years draft.

S- similar to most other positions need young guys to step up we have McLeod(when he is healthy) and Harris which are fine but they aren’t getting any younger be huge to get Wallace or Epps to take the next steps.

Honestly been the same on both sides of the ball for me this year it’s more about knowing what we have in young guys and what we need moving forward more so winning 10 games sneaking into the playoffs
