Yep. What I’ve been trying to say to you. How often do you throw it 60 yards anyway?

Completions... different than attempts.   But the idea that you miss,  you have to make 20-40 yard throws off the back foot or without gathering.  It's why with Hurts, it's a big deal for him to overcome that issue... he has trouble completing throws when he moves left. That takes away half the field.

A QB winding up without any rush and being able to step up... needs to throw longer than 52 yards.  Not so much for those plays, but for the other plays more common when his feet aren't set.

Really the only time the huge air distance becomes a factor is in a Hail Mary. Then you can either chuck it into the endzone…or you can’t.

Vets know how to draw the penalty, just fake the ball's coming at different timing, stop short etc. Guys like Dak depend on the short ball, which we were miserably bad at defending last yr. That was last yr, which is why we should be looking more to the coming season, we're measurable better than last. Quit living in the past already, Learn from it and move on, as the team has.

Scenario 1...Hurts  I the guy

Scenario 2 Hurts isn't

2A... the pick from the Saints combined with our own is enough to move up for a QB next draft

2A  those picks aren't enough.   In which case we have Hurts and Strong on the cheap next year.  We see what happens there.

There is absolutely zero rush to find out about Strong this year.  If we can pull another Saints trade again next year it sets up another situation where we can trade up if needed.  I absolutely think this is an option for Howie/Lurie.

While they always want a franchise QB,they have always kept their options open and invested in the position.  Financially it's the best option to keep both Hurts and Strong on the roster next year without investing anything major in QB.   We all know they use $$$ as a factor in roster decisions.  In a year where they could be losing Cox, Graham, Kelce etc... they may want to be patient again and reevaluate things at QB.

To me it means they aren't sold on Hurts, but they will not publicly say that.

RE 2 A,that's why I would like to see Strong or at least get alot of updates from camps and practices. No there is no RUSH,however if we see Hurts isnt the guy and Strong has a future, then we need to know that prior to the next draft. The sooner you have the goods on them the more you can plan(barring injury of course).

Hurts-ZERO,because he CAN'T. This is why we supposedly drafter Reagor-SPEED to break free 60 yards downfield. Hurts can't hit him even if he wanted to

Hurts cannot do it,nor even try it. Granted those don't happen often, but still it gives you  a CHANCE and Hurts cannot take the chance due to lack of arm strength. maybe he will WOW us with a few 60 yarders, but seems doubtful

Why is the hail Mary the only time??? We drafted Reagor(the loser) for this reason, the speed to break free 55+ yards away on GO routes, post patterns etc,but Hurts limits those 50+ passes and cannot do 60's(yeah arm strength matters). Like the punter you wanted. How many 80 yard punts do you make? Still if you NEED that to happen he can do it. Same thing here

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/carson-strong-1.html  College stats. SO they bash him on accuracy issues, but seems to me he cleaned that up. Not mobile at all as his -208 rushing yards show(lol). So basically a kid with an arm who is a statue in the backfield (thats how he can get hurt easily). So even  though he is not a runner he needs to at least IMPROVE those skills or he will end up like Bradford and enjoying taking roughing the passer penalties lol. Arod is not mobile either,so you'd need a good Oline ALL THE TIME. I feel we have that, but it must be maintained

nd TB12 rushes how much?

Strong needs to heal up this year to have any kind of future. The opposite of what you’re saying.

I’ve seen Hurts but Reagor…then he drops it. Seen Reagor in the playoffs drop two punts also. So clearly need a new plan.

Like I just stayed….there’s been 25….60plus yard passes since 2016. So let’s worry about more important things here.

Of the 25 60plus yard passes…I think three were Hail Mary

Nope, noone knows what he can do. He needs to practice at LEAST

So QB's gave their team a chance(no matter the odds) 3 times. Hurts can do that ZERO times

I don’t think so. He was told by his Dr and dad to not play. Why ruin the kid practicing? Let him heal and see if he has a future after.

Arm strength is important. But not so much on throwing it 65 yards. That’s the difference I’m trying to communicate to you. The importance comes into play mostly on how long the ball is in the air on longer out patterns. Guys with cannon arms can throw laser darts. That’s where averaged arm guys aren’t as effective. The stronger arm gives less time for a DB to break on the ball.

Or is it how long the ball is in the air on shorter throws - that's where most throws go?

Ten bucks for the public practice

Accuracy on those thread the needle, tight coverage, 20 yd passes - that's the bread and butter. 60 yd passes are rarer, quite often only thrown for the hope of a penalty
