Is this week 18?

Nope….but maybe Davis could suit up if it was first playoff game. It’s not. So I use good judgement and rest him extra to heal. Postseason I push everybody. In our comfy position with a cushion atop whole conference gives us more flexibility. Extra precaution I’d use.

Players even play hurt because they are ballers, now you want to limit perfectly good high paid players? You think they would like that? Bench Sanders for Sermon because "we need to save you"?

So you're going to ask Hurts to tank? Not hustle? We win games by 24 points every week?

We pay coaches to manage workloads every week

First part: Hurts just carried us big time. 157 yards rushing ….on top of the two TD passes. So not tanking by any means. Far from that. But that one long run…should Hurts have done everything to score? Think he ran like thirty yards. Right there at like the three with only one defender. Do you want him colliding and giving up his body to try and score? Or do what he did…duck out of bounds avoiding the hit?

I'm going to say Davis wants to play as soon as he can play and continue to play until he can't. Goedert too. He(davis) needs the pro snaps, not to be stopped cold in his development. Pro athletes want to play not sit around

And that limits AJ's production? so he should NOT have taken that last TD in,but handed off because he was risking injury right?

UH isn't that what he always does???

Especially with Goedert out AJ should be over 100 yards a game. He is our main air weapon. Oh I forgot, don't throw to him, save him for later

He was injured. You feel the need to force feed him playing hurt? Is the best plan overuseing him to make things worse? They went to him more sparingly knowing he was gimpy. And actually I think his injury gave not much choice. He wasn’t getting as open. Couldn’t leap. So it worked both ways. But I’m surely not playcalling screens for him in that condition. Not going to work anyway. He’s not going to be as effective getting YAC anyway.

I'm not the staff. When he is fit to play he will play

Sure I’m monitoring Sanders carries always. We do need to save Sanders. We aren’t as good without him. They’ve always done this.

So if you don't want Hurts to run or Sanders to run who runs the ball???

I think to score a TD he goes for it. But gotta be smart. A QB sneak for one yard…gotta get it. After running twenty yards….we don’t need him taking the hit. Tough for me to say. Kind of soft thinking. I never really believed in ducking the hit going out of bounds. Best RB ever said he refused to go out voluntarily. Jim Brown thought it soft.

NFL pushes things all the time. No Mas makes fun of me all the time still over that draft pick so many years ago. Ziggy Ansah. Everybody around him said he was the most gifted pass rusher they ever seen. But he touched things out on a bad shoulder.  Ruined his career. Right in the beginning. Davis a high pick. Really large guy. Big piece we need postseason. Those factors make me use extra precaution.

So I’m basically giving Davis an extra game to heal. Then bringing him back extra slowly. Not chancing his long term career. We can afford to take the extra precaution with our situation being fantastic.

So once again, which snap is the one he gets injured on? Why not pull Hurts at 1/2 time?

It doesn't matter what you are giving.him. When he's ready  to play he will play

What precations? he can get hurt on play 2 or play 32,how do you know when that play happens?

We just leaned on both heavily to win. But watching them dominate I still am thinking about this stuff. We needed every bit they gave to pull off victory. So the balance is tough.

Players get paid to PLAY. We assemble a team to PLAY. Players WANT TO PLAY. The fans want players to PLAY. I don't want a team of Prima Donnas,it's bad enough already

I’m saying I take extra precaution instead. If it’s a playoff game you force guys back early even to play. But currently I’m giving an extra week

So let's see,you don't want Hurts running, you don't want Sanders running, you don't want AJ to run pass patterns. I guess that leaves Smith,Quez and Gainwell to get hurt to save the others

Doesn't matter what you are giving. Siri will make that call along with the staff and player

So yeah lets limit our stars, lose games if we have to. GL with  the riots at the Linc 🤣

Hurts can twist an ankle very easily on sneaks,so he needs to stop that BS immediately

This is all true. But there is also times you are upping the possibility. Short yardage is higher impact. Sanders never been a high volume back. So him dominating and you push him to try to go 30 carries is pushing it. We’ve seen many games this year we have one player dominating his matchup. So you gotta go to that. But how much is too much? Felt that way with Goedert one game. After he’s been doing it all day so much…plenty of targets and taking hits….then maybe you back off doing that next screen to him. Gotta be smart and manage. Need to capitalize on the great matchup wins. So where is the balance? I’m saying you gotta utilize restraint. You feed him…but are mindful of his workload.

IDK how much is too much. Did you predict the play Goedert got hurt on as "1 too many"?

Ankle isn’t my concern on sneaks so much. Big hits there. Saw one play this last game where the two guys held him and a third came in with a shot right at the ribs. That’s what we don’t need. He took it. But that could have been our season right there. I don’t know the answers. Gotta win. Hurts gotta run. But if we lose him we are sunk. So whatcha do?

That's why we have staff and coaches and a med crew to make those determinations. IDK of any athlete that wants to sit on the bench, maybe you do. Future paycheck are based on STATS and when you voluntarily limit those you are going to have a mutiny

What??? he sprains or breaks an ankle and he is OUT. So we need to sit him from now until week 18. would Hurts be happy if you sat him for the next 6 weeks??? Or tell him he is not allowed to do sneaks?

Nope. Can’t do that. But like you keep pointing towards AJ bad game. I’m fine with his production being what it was. Forcing him wasn’t going to help. It’s football. Physical game. You can’t stop everything. Ceedy Deuce laid the wood on a big hit…got injured. Nothing you can do. But you can control some things. That you gotta do. Davis wasn’t out there being overplayed to start his career. That was all intentional. They were conservative knowing the rookie body wasn’t ready to play 75 percent of snaps all season. That was wise. Still got hurt.
