Page 2775...the posts right after the picture of Wilson.    I asked why you liked the Saints trade ...and you said it gave us a WR to pair with Smith

Saints trade....not AJ trade.    That's what I was talking about...don't know why you gave that response...do you think you were confused?  If not. I don't get it.

I probably was. I had a ginormous response typed out,but it doesn't matter now anyway

RB I'm starting over....I can wait to see prices drop after the draft.   I don't mind our current guys, but I'm not paying for them.

We need to be smart here with only 4 picks(basically). I don't think we need to spend draft capital on a RB just yet, but both contracts due does become a problem. Sermon was "ok" at OSU. I would guess he would be on par with Scott or close to him, so I suppose it comes down to what Sanders asks for.

All good.   We have more interesting things to talk about.  The better this Saints pick ends up, the more I will look at college players early.  Plus a whole stretch run coming up.

I have a feeling there will be more than the 4 picks.

Every team knows that by now??? You think TB didn't know that last year?

Yes, evidently only in the playoffs do teams want to win though according to No Mas.

Dillard was a top 10 pick? Reagor? The vanishing MS2?

None of those were top ten

That was the main issue you were discussing at time of trade as to why you liked it.    The media was all praising Howie about his ability to keep reshuffling QBs...and how this trade was genius because of that.... and how " you can't have 3 first round picks in same contract year ( another media type of looking for something soap opera or complicated)

Very simple....the trading of those assets on paper was very heavily in the Eagles favor. Simple math showed it.

They moved up from 19 to 18 by swapping a 6th for a 7th.

They received a 2022 3rd, 2023 1st and 2024 2nd... for pick 16 ( pick right in the middle of the round)

On paper = no brainer... weeks before the draft, you can only win on paper.

I know. See sometimes round 2 guys are actually round 1 talents that maybe didn't become "NFL ready" by draft day. SO as Ham pointed out you can find studs in round 2. But it's always hindsight with him. I can point to many more round 2 fails as he can round 2 successes.Dean was actually a round 1 talent,he fell to us because of health issues. Most teams want their 1,2 guys to play immediately. it's kind of nice we can pick those guys off and let them learn without expecting immediate results. This is like being ahead of the curve

Except it wasn’t hindsight. It was my idea of what the plan should have been because of the 2022 draft talent situation.

I'm more curious what we do about QB#2. I doubt Book is the answer there. IDK if we offered Shew enough if he would be happy not playing,or if we just signed another teams cut and let him walk

Don’t think Shew has any better option. Who’s choosing him as their starter?

Why did you like the Saints trade.. what aspect got you excited?  Because what you talked about was now there was no option at QB.  That was media hype along with not paying 3 rookies their 2nd contracts in the same year.

It's a 3 for 1 deal that doesn't need a soap opera reason...regardless of the  possibility of getting another QB.

We added a 2024 second round pick after we hoped that their 2023 first rounder was considerably higher than 19.

IDK why you find this funny. Do you KNOW if we are re-signing Sanders and Scott?? Do you KNOW Sermon and Gainwell can handle the RB duties if we don't? So absolutely it depends on what Howie thinks

Yes, we all know Scott, Gainwell and Sermon isn’t enough

So if you ran the 2022 draft what players would you have taken thru round 4?

Sorry TOP PICKS-better????

So for every "stud" you list from round 2, I can point to an average guy. The trick is in the sauce. Gotta pick the right ones, which is always the challenge, but once again you miss the point of the post

A team that doesn't have the draft tools to move up for one, or teams that can't seem to find a consistent starter(the Jets and Panthers come to mind) Saints also have no draft capital,so that would be a cheap option for them over Winston, Hill

SO, what are you doing at RB? You have Sanders and Scott both with expiring contracts and(as of now) 4 high draft picks,so you may not have Scott either

Yeah, when we got Dickerson(supposedly to replace him),he didn't say alot, but he seems to rave on Jurgens. So if a pro bowler sends their accolades, you need to listen

Idk..  what seems to be the history so far with the approach to the running QB..  Lamar, Murray, even back to Vick.   Let's see what happens when a team is faced with a lose and go home situation.

Math...numbers don't lie ...no spin when you look at the actual picks that were traded

From a pick 'em standpoint its alot easier to come up with one guy than it was with 3(at the time). So still awaiting Hams list of picks he "would have made" thru round 4. I have 2 pikced out at this point,no matter of it's pick 5 or 10. Both are D linemen (edge and a DT to pair with Davis) Both are also from Clemson lol

I'm going out on a limb and saying it's probably the same ankle he has always played on(I could be wrong)

If that Saints pick becomes a #5 or better, I am certain we will end up with more picks. I highly doubt we stay at 5 if we can gain another pick or two in the first two rounds.... But a potential All Start player on the D-Line would go a long way too....

Sorry TOP PICKS-better????

A bit of hindsight now. Because you just don’t know at the time whom would fall. I’m not against the Davis pick….but wasn’t my first ideas. Clearly Gannon needed a Nose more than arguably anything else to effectively run his D. So trading up for Davis has to stand. I really liked how Hurts saved us by getting AJ. So I agree with that trade. Using all the picks we did….just adjust for not making the Saints trade. Now all summer everybody knew Rosie was trading away one of those three first round picks. Can say because three guys coming up on after rookie contract timing or whatever reasoning….it’s Rosie….all the reason we all needed. It was happening. He can’t help himself. Now my whole point of view on trading one away for a future first was finding the right trade partner. All the teams that you’d expect to stink would value their 2023 first round picks. Basically hard to find a team to trade what everybody expects is a top ten pick. So the whole goal of finding a trade partner is somebody that believes their better than they actually are. A team that is willing to trade for now believing they are playoff bound expectations….but really will end up at the bottom of the league. That was Rosie main task this offseason. Finding the sucker. I discussed this all way back in the summer. Saints fit this bill about as good as one could hope. Lost their coach and QB recently. Many had them winning the division still though. Saints bit. Not sure what team would fit these parameters better? Rams didn’t have a 2023 first I don’t even think. Plus their demise has been very shocking. Extremely tough to bet on like this anyway. So if you have to trade away one of the three first round picks….think Rosie found as best a sucker as he could. Exactly what we needed to make the deal. So hats off to him for finding that team. Lions weren’t going to give away their first. It had to be a team like Saints. Believed they could win division….but fooling themselves.
