So from my stand point of the goal being to win it all. Anything falling short of that is failure. 30 other teams in the same position.

But at the start of 2022.. this was not your goal.... remember the criticism toward me for expecting more than 12 wins with that roster?   "No Mas, it's unfair to put such expectations on a young QB, let's make the playoffs first"   lol.

Really losing credibility.    Very easy just to admit the guy in charge is doing a very good job... going out of your way to criticize salary cap is really losing it.

But you like that island... you get your attention that way.

Since 2017 think Howie has clearly shown he is willing and able to go get guys to the pursuit of another championship.

Definitely can argue he needs to have a better grasp of when those SB windows are really there can say we were spending on older guys when we weren’t really contenders anymore that’s fine.

But definitely has and is willing to spend to help the best he can to put us over the time for the Lombardi

On a side note 76ers taking game 1 in Boston with no Embidd is huge…. Harden out there looking like his vintage self

UH we don't have a younger core we can build on? We said 3 years ago we wanted to get younger. We did except for a few guys we had to go "all in" for to make the SB run. So now it's a new year. Don't we have young core players in place?

You gotta do everything. Yes we exactly were forced into building a strong young new core. But saddled them with 54 mil dead money fir play in 2019.

Not my bar. Your bar set too low. You want O stats to be the best. That’s your standard. SB win with a parade. That’s my standard.

Off-seasons sure we have had some really good off seasons…. Last year getting Bradberry was huge, White at LB played well, CGJ at S, trading for AJ huge stuff for sure.

did anyone in our 22 draft class really even do anything though? I like the picks of Davis, Jurgens , Dean etc. but can we really say they were a good draft before they have performed?

Well they are the heir apparents and while you are correct we haven't seen alot of them yet, they are still here. So I will assume(perhaps incorrectly) that they still feel they can take over the reins when called upon. I also realize there are some that aren't panning out we are keeping (like Zech for instance) but year over year we have brought the talent levels up from where they were. I was also a Howie basher in '19 and '20,but I have to give credit where it's due and Howie turned himself around. I think he finally realized he has a scouting staff and let his ego go rather than override what his people were telling him. So I say the last 3 drafts were "unreal". You can choose whichever adjective you like, but despite not seeing the '22 guys alot,he was voted as the best GM last year,so apparently the other GM's liked the picks he made, not just me. All those guys we lost on the "all in" run were some of picks for next year we used THIS year, and we still have alot of picks next year too. So it's not like some teams that have traded away massive picks to make ONE. I think he saw that mistake when we moved for Wentz and that that is NOT the way to go,because he changed how he approaches things now. For example this year I saw who we had in on private visits. We had guys that were ranked as 6th,7th rounders(well we DID start with 2 7 picks) so I was seeing how he has changed. He was scouting players we could get in round 7 and it's rare you have those guys in on private visits. He had certain s[pots he wanted to help and he was ready to help those position no matter when we drafted. he took those 2 7's converted that into a 6th,they sold that 6th off for a 5th. To me that is "unreal"

FL you super happy just to have a team that could be considered a possible champ? Or do you need a team to do it? I’ll take a less talented team that brings home the Lombardi over super talented individual’s  coming up short.

Now we’ve switched positions on the bar. 2021 I just wanted that team to make the playoffs. Very good for that group to get there. You complained more about what they lacked. They did lack plenty. But that was the ceiling for that team. Think I even tried to explain to BG how I was seeing things.

My bar never changed, maybe your perception of it did,but that didn't change my bar. I set the bar for Hurts as I would ANY QB we had. before this season started I wanted to see certain things,I just wasn't blindly buying in like you were. I saw all the things I wanted to see from Hurts. That was him reaching my bar,not me changing it. Hurts did the work and proved to me what he needed to,so no my bar never changed

Lost the SB last year. Why are you so pleased and not a bit wanting to look at any tiny things that prevented winning it all? Fell short by a field goal. Not much needed to have gotten over that hump.

Does Hurts? Or does Howie with the roster he put around him lol. And every year you come talking about the cap hell Howie puts us in and yet every year we manage to get guys we need.

oh the cap hell Howie put us in, go get AJ and extend him, get Bradberry extend him rework slay keep him.

Now is the time to start backloading the contracts. Maybe trading future picks away. But we walked in with all this baggage. I absolutely will complain. No doubt in my mind we’d be staring the huge dynasty run if 54 mil of the cap wasn’t dead weight from non intending teams.

And which team wins the SB??? The teams with the most points??? Is that not offense???? You laughed at me when I asked for a mere ONE TD over the previous year. With all we spent on offense that was my GOAL and we got pretty close didn't we? How let's turn up the heat and GET that 32 PPG. You can't count on your defense to get pick 6's(you know like the Hurts drop)

I mean why is it hard for you BG or others to see how much more this team could be. If this Royo wasn’t saddled with dead cap. Wasn’t facing so much backloaded contracts. So much of 2020 is holding these guys back. Great looking team! That’s with the limitations. But I can’t just ignore Rosie path that holds them back also. I agree with him doing it nice you’ve cleared the cap. Once you have a young core to contend with. I’d prefer even to have maybe faced more of the money for the good young players ahead instead of later also. Just so simple to me. It was totally possible for this team to exist with 40 mil extra cap space from less dead money THIS season. While rolling over more money coming in. AND having taken more of the cap hits up front on sone of these guys we are running with like Reddick and Slay and Sweat.

Who TF said I was pleased losing the SB? TINY things-Hurts dropping the ball for 6,Quez dropping 1,those are NOT TINY things

Happy we have a very quality team. But those three areas of the money workings are far from ideal. Just simple math. We could have the most unstoppable juggernaut ever seen if you think about all that.

Kind of like how the top team the Warriors did things to start out. Won it all…then still added Durant afterwards.

  • Author

Most teams can’t even contemplate trying to do what I’m describing. You’d need a GM that is comfortable enough to be patient and keep his job. We’ve had that ability.

If you don’t agree with me descrobe to me how paying Brooks makes our SB contention stronger?

We had a 10 point lead and the offense failed to score enough to win.You can't put Mahomes on the field as much as we did in the 2nd 1/2. You are inviting a loss and that's exactly what happened. yes the field was crap(but we were leading on that very field that wasn't changed at 1/2 time) I didn't like the PI call. I though that was as bogus as they came, however you have to cont on those things and beat your opponent anyway and we failed to do it. ALL we had to do was match KC scoring with our offense for 30 minutes and we didn't

Rosie picked Hurts. Unconventional move too. So Rosie gets major credit for Hurts. Hurts brought in AJ, IMO. I saw us really only needing  Reddick’s knockout blow against the Niners. Not necessarily needed…but guaranteed the win. So we really just had the SB to win. I didn’t see Hurts get enough help in that game at all.

I honestly saw that game as mostly Hurts carrying the team. He refuses to come up short. Pushed him into a whole other level of play that game. He delivered. If he was surrounded by so much help how did we not win?

Three targets receiving delivered. About it for help.

It actually had to be proven at the end of the season…your answer there….couldn’t win a single game without Hurts.

I don't care about money things,I care about the players we put on the field and Howie has done a fine job. it's SO BAD the other GM's think he is cheating. We should adopt the Dullaz approach where they run their guys contracts right to the end then overpay them until they can't. Howie MANAGES the cap[,that's his JOB. So we lost some nice players. it's the ebb and flow. How long were we a .500 club before the SB run???? I was mad at Howie as you stated and I agree,I was.but I won'[t complain about '21 '22 and this last draft. We're going to be a contender for awhile now as I see it

AJ was the 3rd choice, stop with Hurts bought him in. HOWIE brought him in. The 9ers had no QB????(literally they had no QB) Did you miss that part????

C’mon BG I know you watched. It actually played out and happened. An injured Hurts had to play last game of the season versus giants backups…to secure the win. Can’t tell me it was just such a dominant team carrying Hurts. Total BS. Not even a debate. It played out on the field and was proven.
