For me, I haven’t seen anything to convince me Gainwell is important at all.

Basically I ask myself, if we picked up the best released RB at the end of the PS….is Gainwell even better than that option? Much less show enough of a difference to be worth it?

He knows Siri and the playbook. Biggest check in his favor right now.

Pretty easy to see how Ojomo feels like a fairly good bet to work hard and improve to be developed. I believe he has enough talent to succeed. Gainwell just feels like nothing at all special third string RB…easily replaced. You even brought up Sermon. What’s the drop off from Gainwell to Sermon? Or what if we have to pick up a RB anytime during the season ….will that option even be lesser than Gainwell? Value quality RBs. But tons of options for PS level call up RBs. Cheap trade can be pulled off at the position consistently also.

No clue how your boy does. Maybe he peaked where he is??? Maybe he will be a pro bowler. Too soon to know yet you are already assuming he will make this team(and start) And while all that is possible,I live in the here and now. If gains is so bad why do we keep him here???? If he is easily replaced, why haven't we replaced him? I have no clue about Sermon,he hasn't played a snap. Although a starter will be named every game that has zero influence on how much each will play. I suspect the top 4 get snaps(Scott). So I can't "rank" them until the end of the year when the final stats come out. You're telling me Penny and Swift were not "value quality" RB's? IDK any team that assembled the talent we have at RB for the cost of ONE RB others pay for

Did Sermon or Brooks play in the SB???? Asking for a friend

Well my god call the Linc and tell them, because they are obviously clueless. They need to know immediately so they can go out and find another cheap RB you can bash

https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4371733/kenneth-gainwell  Here, click on the left for each guys stats, they are all here to see. perhaps we like Gainwell because he doesn't fumble(unlike our QB who gave up a free 6 to KC)? Instead of 1 1,000 yard rusher,we have 3-4 capable of getting 400. So who cares how you get the yardage or who gets it? I'm paying 4 guys CHEAPER than 1 1k yarder. Add to that the team with the 1k rusher gets hurt, or we shut them down, their running game STOPS. One of our goes down,we just increase the snaps for the other 3. which option sounds better to you for consistency throughout the season???? 1 guy for 1,000 yards,or 4 guys with 300 each? Do the math(4 x 300=1200 yards) NONE are Prima Donnas either,so check off that damn box too

Seems to me Sermon/Scott would BU Penny, Gains/Swift could be equal snaps playing the one that is hot for that particular game. So we are carrying 5 EXPERIENCED RB's who can take up slack(although Sermon needs to play more meaningful snaps in my view if we are keeping him). if someone better cuts loose and they are cheap, you know Howie will go get them if it improves the room. let the coaches and staff make those decisions,it's why we pay them, then you can bash THEM at years end if you need to. I also suspect Penny and Swift are extremely happy they have this O line to run behind,I'm certain it's the best O line either has played behind and I also suspect we see numbers from both of them. With the Hurts run threat now ESTABLISHED and teams trying to defend that it opens up a plethora of options for all the RB's we have accumulated. if I was Penny,or Swift I would be more than thrilled to be able to "show what I got" behind the best O line in the league. Turn 'em loose and lets see what happens. As far as Gains, yep he has competition which makes everyone better as individuals,so I'm all for it. The best 2 start and that's the way it should be. If Swift is having a bad day,Gains can come in(or vice versa). I love it because teams have to scout FOUR RB's(maybe 5 with Sermon) for every game, not just ONE. We have perfected the "tush push",but now we also have the basher in Penny,so now they have to defend both those also. We're going to be a very hard team to defensively plan against

Comical you would choose a round 7 pick over a guy who plays and contributes right NOW. Gains may or may not get more time(you know we got that guy SWIFT in here?) He would "step up" if we lost Penny. Looks to me like Sermon won't be getting a shot here either despite what they said. In order to "step up" you need increased snaps. IDK how you say you value RB more than most, then bash the guys we have. Getting snap counts to all these RB's will be a bit difficult. How can Gains take a "huge step up" if he has a similar or less snap count than last year? The RBBC will be a shared position with 3-4 players trading off. I see none with 1,000 yards this year. I just hope each is effective at what they do when they are on the field, don't really care who steps up. Just do your job

I don't see " step up " as getting stats so much.  1000 yards,  i don't need that forced like it was last year to Sanders.  The year before they ran for way more yards as a team and more rushing TDs from the RB position.....when they had Howard.

We know the agenda last year during regular season....run the guy so he gets paid elsewhere and get the comp pick.

Stepping up... what happens in the bigger games.

But I agree with Ham....I like this Ojomo kid, I'd keep him on the roster over the 4th or 5th RB.... just I have Gainwell as the only one locked to be here next year.  That's using common sense that he is cheap and under contract.  None of the other guys are.   But Ham brings up the other point as to why he will be here... it seems the team likes him, putting him out on key plays since game 1.   So Ojomo over Sermon or Scott is the idea.

PS. I would also love to see the Gains/Swfit backfield combo and run both out of the back field. GL to your coverage teams when we do this LOL

Why do we have to sacrifice a RB for him? Why can't we keep both? I would be ok if we put Sermon on the PS again with restrictions, but really there are more WR's we can lose if we wanted to keep all the RB on.. I like Ojomo also, but I'm not sacrificing Gainwell for him which was the original point. if you want to sacrifice Sermon, then ok

So let me ask.... you have a few RBs....nothing special.   Wouldn't the one who is under contract for 2 years have the edge to stay on the roster?   Isn't it common sense?

He us under contract for 2 years.   So you get rid of the guys you just mentioned before him.   Not a difficult concept.

Go look at the contracts....then you will see it.  The cheapest one....and the only one that goes past this season. So the other guys have to out perform him, not the other way around.

The practice squad exposes the player to get picked up by another team.    So the idea there is exactly what you said...put the RB on the practice squad...not Ojomo.

Ham has an agenda against Gainwell...he played instead of his boy Sanders on key plays because the team trusted him more.    Same agenda he had against Lane for years due to Ziggy Stardust in Detroit that Ham wanted us to draft.

Gainwell is the locked in here for 2 years with that cheap contract.   It's exactly the idea of building a cheap committee... if you have one under team control, you keep him.  The rest you sign to prove it deals.

Gainwell stays,  next year we find the others who fit either the one year prove it deal...or draft a day 2 or 3 RB to lock in cheap for the next 4 years.

IDK we seem to like Sermon or he would be gone by now. He's hanging around for some reason. I would suspect he's here as a BU 4th RB if Penny can't last the season,so if Sermon needs to go on the PS for a possible call up later I would like to see the "tag" on him so we get a return if someone wants him

Why would anyone be gone by now?  You can have 90 players.   These decisions don't need to be made until the deadline before the season starts.

I agree, but Ima laughing at the ZIggy Stardust lmao. I believe Howie is once again one step ahead of the game because RB's markets are falling and he saw that coming

We would have dumped him off last year,or even this year. Seems to me he is like a Mailiata project. They see something they like so he is sticking around. He's cheap to keep, but apparently they see noone better as RB 5

It's still possible he goes away. Someone could cut loose a better option. Have to wait and see

BTW Ham found Ojomo and I was immediately impressed. He seems like a wild boar/beast that needs contained and controlled. I believe there is a ton of upside there. have NP bringing him along
