And if he was on that pace Rosie would have tried to trade him. I was a fan of getting Alshon. Good call. Extending him originally...good call. But it was bad business Rosie’s actions with him last season. Just didn’t make any sense. He screwed up. Knew he screwed up...very quickly..like a month. Then screwed up again.

Dude we had to extend him because we only had FOUR draft picks. He played well in the SB,why would you doubt he wouldn't continue to produce? Especially when you know A)I have no draft picks) and B) I would have to pay someone else(see TATE) who doesn't know the system

Call Novacare,they need you

You were here(well there) but you know what I mean. My first complaint when they announced the 53 was Hollins didn’t earn a job. Ward earned a spot. And how could they keep so few WR and TE. I thought Perkins should have made the squad. He could be depth for TE and WR. This isn’t hindsight. These were my initial thoughts.

SO now your question is why would Howie want to trade him? It depends on who he wanted to trade for no? All players are tradable under the right conditions

Like you said Ward was here 3 years, they played him because they had no choice and he was the best PS player. They played Jjaw because they had no choice either. Noone knew if he would succeed or not.Apparently they saw enough in camp to say he would, but the game is not practice. They can only go by what they see

Ward was clearly better than Hollins or JJaw. So they put themselves in that position.

I think you aren’t understanding what happened here. They guaranteed Alshon 2020 and 2021 right before last season started. Then tried to trade him a month later.

Hollins was a waste of time,I have said that over and over.Jjaw we had high hopes for,we played him and he fanned

So after all that...you agree then

SO you sign Alshon, then say Coop becomes available.if I could trade Alshon for Coop on a good deal,I would do it(so would you)

I agree they made the best call at the time.Once again you are using hindsight.Did you have any clue how Jjaw would perform before you played him???? You played him from what you saw in practice, thats ALL you can do

If Jjaw lit the field up you would say why the hell did we play Ward???

And that’s why I say even in the NFL landscape it was shady. Anybody can be traded. But trading  you behind your back(not a prearranged sign and trade) right after you sign a new contract is not good business. It was a backstab move. Even in this NFL climate.

I have always believed that the talent judging skill is much more valuable to a ball club than the Cap expertise skill. People laugh when I say a great talent evaluator is worth as much as a franchise QB but I truly believe that. Not saying capology is irrelevant but I can hire an expert in that category for less than Howie makes and free up my GM to judge talent only.

Who laughs at that?    Obviously getting players is the most important job, coaching would be the only other thing you could argue?

Your round one picks should stick for 5 years each and 40 percent of them should be Pro Bowl players.

Wow... so Joe Douglas from 2017 to 2019 isn't looking so good right now?   Maybe Barnett shows something this year?

I am not just using hindsight. I was ****ing the moment the 53 was announced about exactly that. And DJax was healthy then. Didn’t know all this with Alshon would occur. I don’t have a problem with playing JJaw and giving him a shot. But Ward had a great Preseason last year. He earned a spot. They screwed up. Obvious to me then. Obvious to all now.

Once again I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes. IDK and neither do you

What part are you not believing occurred?

Nothing is obvious when your top WR's and BU's are gone. You play who is LEFT

Results are all that matter. That’s the grade of his job. He’s in charge. But what’s the goal: sell tickets? Be a competitive team? Or for me it’s win it all. I don’t go along with the herd. Have my own thoughts and opinions. I’ll stick with them. I listen to others opinions and ideas. Nothing wrong with always learning and educating yourself. But the truth is Leading up to the SB was the one time I was on the same page with the moves. This isn’t hindsight speaking...you were there. I speak up about my thoughts ahead...not just in hindsight. I thought Chip always not the answer. Most were in love and enamored with everything he did and said. I was the minority. Then we booted him and his moves...and I agreed with everything but the size of Jernigan’s contract after that. And it happened...with our backup QB. So I think track record is important. I feel very confident in mine. You guys know my record and opinions...as much as I might have beat you down with it.

It's funny how all the moves you didn't agree with ....were guys that got hurt?   That's pretty convenient?

Was Ward better than Hollins or JJaw last year? Did we put enough pass catchers on the 53 to start last season?

You buy a car.On your way home you see the same car for 5k less. You take the car back and buy the other? Or are you already locked in to the deal you signed? if someone offers you what you paid for car 1,you TAKE IT and then go buy the lesser priced one?

How the hell do you know unless you PLAY them?

I believe Hollins was already gone?.That left us with Jjaw and a PS player.Thats all we had left. They chose Ward over the others

Not true. But some guys that got hurt was fairly predictable. All the Chipper guys didn’t get hurt. Shipping MCCoy and DJax out wasn’t because of injury. Hiring Chip wasn’t about injury. Like I just was saying to GNC I didn’t agree with fielding so few pass catchers last year. Was there anyway Miller was suiting up last season and doing much of anything? Avery? How about the move for Tate? List is just too long over too many years. Injury hasn’t been the only problem unfortunately.

So,we signed Alshon, then maybe a better deal came along. You TRY to trade so you get the better deal(or what you perceive to be a better deal).Call it backstabbing or whatever you want, but that's the NFL and sports in general

There was a preseason. This all happened to create our 53 man roster.
