Drafted Toney didn’t start him though thank god lol…. Mahomes gave him some support though so can’t drop him yet hoping he rebounds and has a good year

IDk how they can trust him,it will be awhile before they do,so I would snap up Moore if he is available

Have him in one league too.   Bench guy.... no hurt.  In that offense though, anyone could have that one or two big weeks of production.

The rookie caught a TD for them too.  The other TE didn't look too bad and the one WR who runs the deeper routes.

Can't help wonder why we don't bring up Allen as a returner

Isn't he on the practice squad?

Probably depending on Covey’s injury situation. Supposedly he had just a minor hamstring injury…so he should be ready to go. Only get but so many calls up from the PS(believe it’s three). Maybe use Covey’s three…while getting Allen more practice to maybe take over. Especially if Covey doesn’t show enough to prove worthy of a 53 spot.

It's an odd roster.  I'm thinking they spent the offseason learning how to manipulate the rules here.

Basically using the practice squad guys as actually being on the 53.  While protecting the other guys who probably won't play for now...by keeping them on the 53.  7 DTs and 7 CBs?   That's odd...but smart if those are the guys you don't want to expose.

The DT situation likely reviving around my boy Ojomo. Fairly significant injury. Thought they might just put him on IR to start the season. Those designations I believe have to come out by some time tomorrow.

If Ojomo isn’t placed on IR that’s a good sign for him I’d assume. Meaning he might be available week one or possibly two. Would think if he shows he’s completely clear to play then maybe they make a move and drop….ohhh…think it was Kentavius they kept. But with PS call ups and being able to protect a few that are on the PS could just try and get through the first couple weeks. Play it extra safe covering for any injuries that could occur.

The issue with PS, correct me if I’m wrong, is after that weeks games they all are free to be poached by other teams. Then the next phase kicks in and you can protect and call up that next weeks list for the PS players.

Well no need to dress four RBs. Trims down possibilities across the game day players if they do that. Basically comes down to which of the four would you not dress? First option most would think could be Scott. But isn’t he on KO return duty? Not sure if we’ve even learned all that yet this season. I’d sit Gainwell. But understand that isn’t popular opinion around here.

Ringo isn’t dressing I’d bet. Only if he’s a stud corp ST option chosen. But I’d expect the Corners in front of him would be best for those duties. Would be optimal anyway.

Bellicheat on the local news - "There's no baby pool in the NFL, you have to dive right in and try not to drown". Not the most inspirational pep talk!

They're also w/o their CB Jones

I like Tarron Jackson on the PS. But probably don’t need to call him up week one. A bit surprised Janoris Robinson was exposed. Think the Raiders grabbed him.

Not much room to coddle professionals in the NFL …I took as his point.

Trade pieces too in the event another team loses a few guys and is playing 2nd,3rd's. Those guys will still need BU's to the BU's and we'll squeeze them for a draft pick

So I'm not sure I made my point correctly

Let's take a look at previous years and the usage of the PS compared to now.

Previous years they go by the text book roster... making sure you got all the numbers (including enough backups) at each position... that forces them to put some developmental prospects out on waivers and lose some.  But how many guys were they forced to keep...just to balance out the roster.

For example...losing and Ojomo because they has to " roster" a punter or a returner ...or a gunner..etc.

Now...they got wise...nobody is going to poach a player that only made your roster because of need.   Covey, Siposs etc... teams don't want to cut one of their own to put that on the roster.  But they would poach a Ricks or an Ojomo.

The new rules with calling up PS guys...means you shift how you use everyone.

For example...by being able to use PS guys and put them on the game day roster... it is allowing them to just redshirt Ojomo and Ringo type guys...

They can stay on the 53 and never be activated...because of the ability to bring up Covey and other guys from the PS.

Basically... the guys on the PS ( while not on the 53) are ahead of those bottom 53 guys on the depth chart for playing time.

It's manipulation of the new rules in a pretty smart manner.

And correct me if I'm wrong....another team can put in a claim for a PS guy...but can't we block it by putting that guy on our 53?   So in reality he is safe, just that we would have to lose a number somewhere if a claim was put in?

Now if guys get hurt and go on IR... you put one of the PS guys on the 53.

Oh yeah. If Rosie can have the correct crystal ball reading. Expose some players and protect others. Mostly be nice to protect whomever is deemed highest value. The best players…but also players that maybe have a bit more name visibility….like a guy that came from an SEC over a DII school(FCS…however it’s all labeled these days). But can’t go overboard but so much with all this. Need to make the team needs top priority. The lowest players on the totem pole probably won’t fetch much return in trade. But having depth could make trading a higher guy(depth chart) at the same position more of a possibility to part with. Basic example being trade the fourth DT to a team devastated at the position with injury or poor planning. Maybe get an opportunity at getting high return the more desperate they are.

I don't think there is anyone on PS that they fear losing.  Either with the idea that it doesn't make sense for another team to pick them up...or that they feel can't be replaces.  I think the long term prospects to develop are all on the 53 already.

This last part maybe we need to investigate further….because I wasn’t thinking this is officially how it works. You can protect and/or call up a few guys each week on the PS. But after all games that week, calling it after Monday Night Football(probably Tue morning is the official time), I believe PS players are free game for the whole league. Witnessed that Rosie at times is made aware at times of players on the PS getting offers from other teams. I believed it was only if that player, more likely the player’s agent, would prefer to remain here than the new destination….so before accepting the move…run it by Rosie and give him the option to step up and show enough importance of value for that player to promote him instead of losing him.

But your whole theory and explanation of rostering a player to redshirt him while protecting him is a fairly dumb way to go about it. I would just roster that player initially….then place him on IR. Done all the time practically regardless of any injury actually dictating the move.
