Our OC's from college, right? So how come watching college I'm seeing so many simple plays we don't use? Crossing routes at all levels, spreading wide receivers out as far as possible to open the middle, rub routes, tunnel routes where they cross the wide receivers short - huh Brian Johnson?

Was this the early part of the game before they ran all over Minnesota to score 31 points in 34 minutes?

Can't keep depending on turnovers - both weeks - and only won by 1 score. If not for the turnovers we would've lost both.

Hey Joemas - was the Eagles game Thurs night on local tv or just prime in Philly?

Ohio state struggling with W. KY . BC/FSU was a good game

Just as I said that they dropped a TD bomb to Marvin Harrison jr. he is going to be a good one

Yeah, just saw that so was curious about your 1st post.

We meet up in late oct, think the 21st. How's your team this yr? We have some good players, not a great team yet

The Eagles will always be on a local channel...even when it was NFL network,  they simulcast it on one of the major networks locally.

I remember the old days... the Cardinals game at home always was a blackout.

BG ...imagine that...NFC east...  Dallas, Eagles, Giants,  Washington and the Cardinals ( St Louis)

I remember being in Wildwood on  Labor Day weekend... having to listen to the radio because it wasn't on TV

Ohhh.  You can just find a gem and develop him... it's just thst easy... lol.

You can find diamonds in the rough players. Which is fantastic. They exist at all positions. Great to build on those players. You can find a DitR at DE. Also can find good value players at all positions in FA. Always love to bring those guys in. After that it just comes down to what position(s) you are missing. That last piece or two are usually the pieces that cost and just gotta pay the price for. I don’t care what position it is when you get to that point of wanting to really be a contender. Not trying to hear the excuse trying to explain how the GM doesn’t believe in investing but so high a draft pick or amount of money based on any positional values chart. Rigidly sticking to that and just accepting roster shortcomings that have the team fall short …makes that philosophical positional hierarchy the weakness of any GM that holds him and that franchise back.
If undermanning the position group is the difference in not being able to win it all ….my point of view that’s just a fail. Fine with starting foundational by building up with considering these paper theory beliefs. Coming up just short with a real close contending top team because the great value pick or FA doesn’t fall to Rosie? You can’t be so rigid. It costs what it costs…at any position…if that’s the difference between having a real shot at closing the deal on bringing home a parade ….or bailing out after one playoff victory.

Heck, I remember only 3 channels and it was black and white - ouch! Lived in Allentown tho so Eagles games always on

I been consistently believing our team probably just isn’t at that level this season. Optimistically my hopes are with trading for a great missing piece and developing this whole current roster. Basically hope lies in Jurgens, Sidney Brown, Dean ….to improve as the season goes on…instead of the more arguably realistic viewpoint that they hit the extremely common NFL Wall that young players have to develop being capable of thriving as the long season wears on. Basically becoming professionals. Longer harder bigger faster version that the NFL dishes out. But sticking to the optimism: not just the young guys being developed. Need all the pieces to gel together to form a Championship team. LB Ellis and S Edmunds meshing in together. With all coming together as one unit. Instead of a group of talented enough separate individuals. I believe that a group committed and hungry enough fitting together can be stronger and tougher than much more talented players just on their own. A medium level slot CB, LB and S that do their jobs and know each other seamlessly figuring out how the three can cover everything working together is hard to beat. They can have weaknesses…but self scouted and recognize what they are. So the D as a whole can adapt accordingly. The whole Secondary becoming just one fist…instead of five fingers. A whole Oline understanding each role under all conditions…moving in lock step. You need a certain level of ability. Most at the NFL level possess that. But several Pro Bowl players pointing at each other for being at fault isn’t as tough to face as several mid level players that move as one unit. Starts with the coaches. Especially new OC and DC. Those two guys have massive work still cut out for them this season. Nowhere close to having these guys meshing together as one unit. One team. Haven’t identified what they can and can’t do well yet. Team can’t go anywhere without this area taking major strides. What main coverage can this personnel become great at on D? Gotta figure out some version of pass coverage that is worlds more reliable than this week two version is at. Offense seems to be missing all those details. Almost across the board far from ironed out. Not one or two little missing details I’m seeing on O. Plenty of them everywhere. Starting up top with OC Johnson. Offensive rhythm is missing. Disjointed playcalling. I’m sure all the stuff he is calling can work. But it’s out of synch when each play should be called first off. Not even close to connecting several plays together….instead feels like it’s a one play at a time thought process. Instead of a larger picture view…each play setting up the next…but also setting up the future play that looks similar…but goes the opposite direction. Meaning you need plays together to achieve first downs…putting together full scoring drives. But also understanding the plays being setup for the next quarter. Spoiled so much with AR on all that. Beyond just the plays being called themselves though. The execution is just sloppy and far from being polished. Those details are glaringly absent. That small fraction of why the receiver, for instance, needs to be positioned and angled exactly right….opening up so the TE can do his thing much more defined crisply and purposefully. Oline together as one handling all rushers. RB backing them all up. QB expecting the whole unit behaving and executing like what happens. The QB can make adjustments then expecting the troubles appearing…being able to overcome. Receivers react accordingly observing the situation in the backfield.
Good news is the O has plenty of talent. Not like the team hasn’t been able to score any points or anything(looking at you Giants). But really has a long ways to go with the entire team(coaches and players). Don’t see much identity or team yet. But 2-0 helps. Think everybody has clearly circled and identified the toughest stretch in this seasons schedule coming. Get here faster than you know it. At current level could be a 4 or 5 game losing streak potentially. Much work to accomplish to be anywhere near ready to come out of that stretch successfully. Focus only that far is plenty right now. Postseason is a galaxy away from being prepared for.

I always had color. Think we had like five channels. The second nob got like 27 and 33 or whatever. The huge moment came with the remote control. Life changing. The days before the remote sucked! Had to get up and flip through. Nobody ever volunteered or wanted that mission.

Now I have a whole tray to contain all my remotes. Surround sound, tv, cable, AppleTV(2 remotes plus gaming controllers) and Fire Tv. Geez I should have one universal remote. Funny part is my 7 year old is already ahead of my wife knowing how to work them all. So hilarious to watch my spouse, that has a Masters Degree mind you, have to rely on asking a second grader how to do any of it. Funny story from last weekend. My wife was getting a bit high and mighty on her Masters achievement ,which included some medical training, of how they made her smarter and wiser. Two seconds afterwards she is getting furious and frustrated because she can’t figure out how to work the Tv. All that money and time spent getting her education didn’t help an ounce doing such a tiny routine task, working the TV…hahaha…her enlarged ego being boosted by highest degree in the room she touted as proof of her wisdoms in all subjects…so quickly was annihilated by needing to turn to a 7 year old to do something for her she didn’t understand how to do. Dessert that night was Humble Pie.

Not a fan of the stupid lopsided/no competition college games. You can't tell how good anyone is until they play someone decent. A few good games on today. IDK why they bothered televising the OSU game

And at 11PM, they played the national anthem and went off the air. And you had to move the rabbit ears around to get the best picture

We had antenna on the garage..could flip it north and get a fuzzy NY channel to watch the home Phillies,  Flyers and Sixers games if a NY team was here.

Kids have no clue about only seeing road games on TV.  My uncle has Prism... used to get the home games..and old school WWF matches...lol.

The sports was on a quarter after ... I used to watch Action News, then flip to another local channel to catch another minute of sports before my parents had to watch the weather.   I had the channel flip down to a science.

Times are totally different.   Good and bad.  I feel with limited choices the world was more together with everything going on....it's nice to have the choices now, but just means less in common with other people.

2011 Dream Team under Andy being the prime example of this.  This is absolutely the Andy Reid influence... no denying.    Frustrated me for years...." Bronze standard "   He gets away with it in KC due to the QB.

We view it a little differently now though.  I don't agree the " pieces are always there"   I also think this team is in position to contend because the league is at a low at the moment.  I believe that for Dallas and SF too.

The Eagles came into the 2022 season needng a ton of pieces... a lot got filled with how the GM made a ton of moves.... especially non draft or first wave of free agency.

The team had to shift this year... they wanted to start by keeping Kelce, Graham and Cox.. which regardless of " all in for 2023" ...it's a good move to have these young players learn from them before taking over.

Would I like for the studs at the positions of need to be acquired...sure.   Who were these studs?   They aren't always there... and they have 32 teams in the league that can e interested in them.

We can't act like free agency is only for the Eagles and not 31 other choices.

Acting like Taylor or Queen are simply easily available is a little naive.  " hey just trade a mid round draft pick and don't pay them"  and thinking it's that easy , simply because of other players in the past,  is naive.

Each player has their own issues going into their final year of their contract.   They aren't all looking to come to our team for cheap...and the current teams aren't all going to give them to us cheap.

If it were that easy then 32 GMs  would be doing it every year.

Luck is a big part of it.   The luck of having unexpected players develop and play well.

Look no further than Mr. Irrelevant probably saving Lynch's job in SF. Otherwise look at the disaster of acquiring a RB and Trey Lance....for a combined. ...three 1sts,  a 2nd, two 3rds and two 4ths.

Basically 8 draft picks for CMC.

The luck of Mr Irrelevant at the most important position in sports...  yet here its lack of investment on LB or S????  I think better chances to get lucky there with even better picks than Mr Irrelevant.

Still....either way, there is always some luck involved.

If I am not right .... was Nolan Smith drafted as a lb. I just why isn't he on the field.  Seems to me we need some lb help and he looks like an excellent player.  Hope to see thanks

Just imagine the schemes he could be used In on D

Seth Joyer should be lb coach
