Jets gotta take ‘um. They have Darnold...but still....HAVE TO TAKE HIM! Like the situation in Zona. Had to take Murray...then you definitely have to take Lawrence.

Yeah IDK what happens, just tossing up options for us. Losing Wentz would alleviate the cap issues and since now you would have 2 rook QB's (Lawrence and Hurts) you can basically eat that dead money over a 3-5 year span. Of course if they both get hurt, that is out the window. I was just trying to kill a nest of hornets(issues) with 1 swipe of the stick lol

Yeah sucks,I didn't think we would need to look at O line that early. I figured a few late rounders. IDK we need 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds (UGH)

I just don't see Laurie firing Howie. He is going to be promoted to a new position in the organization. Now Doug that might be a different story.

Yeah I don't see it either. I DO think Lurie has some decisions to make about hiring a REAL GM(splitting that back to 2 separate potions like it was before) and telling Howie he is out of that drafting spot job. I doubt this talk goes well, as well all knew the power struggle when we hired Chip. This is all on Lurie and it will be interesting what he does. He is like the queen, a figurehead in the nitty gritty operations, still he is the owner and he makes the final calls. If it's me, I just tell Howie this is how it will be,hire a GM and let him pick his staff. I don't see that we have alot to lose at this juncture

Early read is D player and then we can get high choice of that grouping in the second.

We are looking at a top 5-6 draft pick this year. Do we trust HR to draft the right player next season? That LB from Penn State may be available and if he is there and we do not take him, we will have let another perennial pro-bowler pass us by.

Is that a rhetorical question or do you really need an answer

I mean I’m on board with the fire howie but every pick he has had in the top12 turned into studs... not a huge list only 3 players

I just think Howie has been a loyal soldier and in my world loyalty has value. AND he did win our First Super Bowl... Hell what do I know?

I don't see us giving up on Wentz next year either. Toooooo much dead money... And if Peedy is toast,  I would want to see if Carson can be fixed by the NEW staff. I am severely disappointed in my fifth yr QB... With the right coaches he could be fixed....UNLESS...he is Happy with his money and new life and football is no longer MOST important.

Well he gets paid pretty well. It's not like he said "ok I'll take pay cut so we can hire(whomever)" So ,I suppose that works both ways and I also suppose he got a nice raise when we tacked on that /GM. IDK what that slash is worth to Lurie

I still think with the right coach...Wentz can be a stud... Gonna need to replace our aging superstars... Don't see us wanting to eat All that Wentz Dead money.  I just don't see Wentz Primary Interest as football anymore. No longer think Peedy is committed to the team success by his actions. Cap projections  next few years, we need to get young and cheap. To survive the Covid  crunch. Time to find out what we have.

Thats why I came up with the Wentz and our 1 for Lawrence(of course the Jets would need to agree though lol). If you read back to my earlier post that dead money would be spread out

Welp, there are too many IDK's for me to know. I know Wentz is making bonehead errors and right now he is the WORST QB in the league, and ontop of that taking the most sacks in the league. He is missing wide open receivers, that is not a 5th year QB IMO. Ped gives up the run game if one or 2 runs plays fail. He then panics and the run game is gone. He is making rookie coach errors and this is also 5 years in. I have no clue as a fan what we have in Hurts. If he played 1/2 game maybe I would, but 2-3 plays that mostly fail and are predictable give me no reference point. Is he better than Suds? Why was he drafted if we like Wentz going forward? I have no answers

You gotta look at things through a defensive point of view. The goal of the defense is to hit the QB and rattle him to make him rush a read or miss a throw. Our Oline can’t handle a blitz or a stunt. Everybody knows this.

Agreed, it all starts with a rock solid O line. Just alot of ? marks there. Mailata looks ok, still need work, but it seems he is progressing. IDk what his ceiling is or how far he can go until he's as good as he gets. Now the right side is even more of a mess with lane out. This will pretty much X out the running game if we can't open holes on the right side. Sanders does ok with noone doing that, but we get down, give up the run and they just tee off on Wentz the rest of the time. I thought we had a D line to do just that to the opposition. They are "ok" but far from dominating which really underscores and highlights how bad our secondary is. If they don't get penetration, the QB's just pick them apart

Fanspeak now has us drafting 7th lol. We're moving up pretty fast(pffffft) This team needs so much it's tough to know where to go in 1,2,3

I can't imagine this guy not going in round 4(no round 4 for us lol).I doubt he lasts until 6 as above. Plays in/out and ST's

So so many holes on this team... so many needs.

Yeah gonna be a rough draft cause we need so many

Only problem is....we pretty much have to draft Asante Samuel Jr in the second round. I mean...don’t we? 🧐

Isn't he just a freshman this year?

This roster isn't a single year fix ... you stick to the BPA approach.  The problem with Howie is, I don't trust him to truly identify BPA or stick to the philosophy when making the pick.  He'll take a lesser player because they have one trait he is focused on (like taking Reagor over Jefferson because he brought the speed element).  This team needs young talent practically across the board ... just take the obvious best overall football players that are available when we make our pick (with few exceptions ... you obviously don't take a QB if one is considered the best prospect when selecting in the 2nd or 3rd).

Part of the O-Line problem is we do not run the ball nearly enough. It is hard to pass block, but nearly impossible when the defense knows you are going to do it. We all keep saying our O-Line stinks, but we never look at the fact they are pass blocking on like 80% of the plays. Maybe this would disappear if we actually started to run the ball 35-40% of the time.....

Tired of hearing"take the BPA approach". ALL teams take the best player......at a position of need. Was Hurts a position of need? No,not then and according to most, not now either. So maybe he was the BA at a position of NON need. SO it was a pointless pick unless you are planning a Wentz dump, which puts in players heads "are we rallying around Wentz, or waiting to see if we should rally around Hurts?". Howie gets too "cute" and needs to draft what we NEED, so to me that will always be a wasted pick. A correct pick LAST year, could have avoided one THIS draft possibly. The Vikes war room cheered when we took Reagor(what a gift we gave them). The Hurts picked had everyone mind boggled and I saw fans jaws drop(mine did too). If Howie got Hurts as a trade chip,he better use him for that. Could have taken a LOT or LOG there and the JP fiasco would have never happened. If we're gonna draft like morons, then we'll have a team of morons(no offense to the players, but y'all know what I mean). C'mon man!!!

This dude is always around the ball, that is until we ruin him lol

I know I have said this before, but almost all teams have players ranked in tiers. Like they probably have Tier 1 which is a starter and possibly Pro Bowl player. They will not have 1 person listed, but probably 8-12. This continues all the way thru the top 200. Now they form their draft board by placing these tiers using positions of need first followed by positions not needed. Very rarely will they have a draft spot where no one of need is there. Most teams will probably try and move down in this situation I imagine.... As for players like QB's. If a team has no need or a QB, I am sure they just leave them off the board entirely. Green Bay has no need of a QB. I am sure they won't have one on their board next year.

I am simplifying this, but I am certain this is almost all teams approach.

I can't understand for the life of me my Driscoll didn't get the nod over Pryor last weekend (unless he was still recovering from injury and not ready to go).  He was first up earlier in the year when Lane couldn't play and after a few early lumps, settled in rather nicely (relatively speaking, considering he is a rookie, etc.).  It kinda reminds me of playing Opeta and Pryor over Herbig recently (at RG).

Maybe it depends on who is making the decision about who plays. It should be Doug and staff but there are rumors that our favorite draft genius has input. If true that would explain a lot.
